Oh, if only I could give this stellar organization zero stars, I totally would. Our company, did some work for the Village Family Services. We did this work nearly a year ago. The job was ridiculously simple and probably worth a measly $300. Fast forward to now, and they owe us about $1,564 in late fees because, surprise, they just flat-out refused to pay us. They pretended they could pay us on time, promised us a check, but of course, nothing ever came.

Do not donate or give your hard-earned money, grants, or anything to them because, on the other end, they are not handling their resources well. I've heard from three other contractors who are also having a hard time getting paid. Don’t do work for them unless they pay you upfront, period. Get a card on file and save yourself from being abused by an organization whose goal is supposedly to keep people from abuse. Horrible management. If I could slap a zero-star rating on them, I would, but since I can't, one star will have to suffice.

My friends had became foster parents with this agency last year. They are welcomed to their home three siblings that turned to be very special needs. My friends are struggling being special needs parents and have sacrificed everything to take in young boys and girls who would otherwise be lost in the system. They are doing everything possible under the sky without support of the very agency that asked them to become part of the foster care support system. According to my friends, the agency pays only 700$ per child and the rest they need to cover from their own pocket.
I think this agency should be audited as to how they spend the money they receive from the government to take a good care of those needed the most.

I currently utilize the services at the Village Family Services Drop-in Center and I am thankful for them. Their services are a godsend and the staff members have been nothing but kind and supportive, and they continue to do a good job every day. The staff connected me to healthcare services and are currently in the process of finding me housing.

I am a current client of the Village Family Services and I appreciate all of the services that I get at the Village's Drop-in Center, which I visit every day. The Drop-in Center's staff got me into a transitional housing program, helped me find a job, and get into college. Overall, the Drop-in Center's a great environment to be in. Everyone is nice and very supportive. This is a safe environment and I find that I'm not afraid to be open with others, whether with staff or other clients. I especially like that when I'm at the center I don't feel as though I'm alone or experiencing life's problems alone - there are other clients there that I'm able to relate to. I'm grateful to the Village for providing this environment and these services.

I am a current client of the Village Family Services and I frequently use the services at the Village's transitional age youth drop-in center. I am extremely grateful for the help and support that each staff member has given me. Too many times people perform their jobs simply because it's their duty, but I honestly feel that at the Village they treat you like family and they genuinely care about your well-being. Thank you to each staff member that has been part of my transition to becoming a young independent adult.

I have been an intern at The Village for two months now and have had a great experience here so far. Everyone is very helpful and always available. I didn't think I would be learning so much so quickly at a mental health agency, and it is because the staff is so wonderful! I drive far to get to my internship and couldn't be happier that I didn't pick a placement based on distance. I have been very happy with the agency and everyone I am working with!

Too often in the Mental Health industry, the client is seen as a patient; someone who needs to be cured. The lens that focuses on deficits is more harmful than proactive as it does not invite the client to be a participant in their own treatment. At The Village Family Services, the first thing that captured my interest was their passion for treating clients as persons. The CEO and COO of the agency are both LMFTs with experience in the Mental Health field. They each make it a part of their daily work schedule to know the ins-and-outs of the agency, including building positive professional relationships with their employees. They are empowering, kind and generous, and very passionate about helping families. There is not enough room in this review nor words that I could string together to explain how powerful my experience with The Village Family Services has been. There is a positive atmosphere the moment you are greeted at the door and when you come to this agency as a client, you are heard, respected, and treated as a consumer of mental health services rather than a patient who needs to be cured. I am infinitely grateful that The Village Family Services exists as a mental health agency, providing ethical and compassionate care to clients and families, and am excited to see how they can blaze a trail to revolutionize the future of the Mental Health field.

I am currently an intern at the Village Family Services' Transitional Age Youth Drop-in Center and I'm happy to know that I am helping people in need. I have wanted to others since I was very young and I'm grateful to the Village for giving me this wonderful opportunity, especially since this is my first time working. The staff has been very supportive of my growth and I wouldn't change this experience for anything else. This is definitely one of the best agencies that I know of that helps the homeless and at-risk youth.

I had a wonderful experience working as a QA intern at The Village Family Services. I gained invaluable skills which taught me how to communicate well with others, become more organized, and detail-oriented. My preceptor was highly knowledgeable, respectful, and flexible, entrusting me to take on challenging, yet worthwhile tasks. The people I worked with were very friendly, professional, and made me feel like I was a part of the team. I interacted with multiple departments within the agency and it was amazing how each person strongly embraced the vision and values of the organization. I enjoyed my experience at The Village Family Services and it taught me how to become a more professional, efficient, and confident worker.

I have been an intern at The Village since April 2015 and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this agency. All of the staff members are friendly, they work together and are dedicated to accomplishing their goals. I have had the pleasure to work with a very professional staff in Quality Assurance since I began my internship. They have taught me things that I never had any idea I would ever be able to do and have pushed me to become a much better professional. I have no doubt that I will be a better working professional after I complete my internship here and I owe plenty of thanks to the staff at The Village.

It is such a true pleasure to volunteer with VFS.
The services they provide for the community are desperately needed and warmly appreciated! The dedicated team of professionals work tirelessly to improve the lives of so many in need. The rewards as a VFS volunteer are deep and gratifying and provide a great perspective of one's own life. It is said that selfless people volunteer and give back to others, but there is proof the rewards are so personal and fulfilling, that it can be very selfish to volunteer. The Village Family Services is the perfect place for everyone to volunteer, get inspired, be inspirational, selflessly give to others and selfishly receive the rewards of love and good deeds done.

I have been working with the Village Family Services since February and the work they are doing is invaluable to the San Fernando Valley. The staff truly has the best interests of their clients in their heart and the work that the Drop-in Center is doing is truly amazing. I personally work with Charles Robbins & Georgeanne Barrett and they are very dedicated to The Village Family Service and work tirelessly to secure the financial support the organization needs.

I assisted with establishing the adult/youth mentorship program with The Village Drop In Center. I provide mentoring services to the clients of the Drop In Center each Wednesday late afternoon - from career planning discussions to resume building to improving interviewing skills.

The Village Family Services Drop In Center provides an extremely valuable service to the teens/young adults in the community. it is a safe, bully free environment that not only keeps them off the streets, but also helps with building skill sets through their various activities and classes it offers. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the team at The Village.

This past weekend the National Park Services picked one group to take on an overnight camping trip to a site we've yet to use as a campsite. We chose Village Family Services (VFS) who brought out 21 people (clients and their families), only two having ever camped before. Three VFS staff accompanied the trip.

I was the ranger in charge of planning and implementation and was impressed with this group throughout. From my initial phone call proposing the idea I received professional and constant communication reassuring me that there would be a good group of campers ready for this adventure. They arrived enthusiastic, showed their appreciation throughout and were incredibly hard-working during the trip. The staff were engaged, connected well with the youth and families and worked above and beyond their normal duties to make this happen.

I was lucky to have this group on our campout and hope to connect with them again!

I am very proud and fortunate to receive the opportunity to intern at such an amazing agency such as The Village Family Services. This agency is consumed with one of the most professional and educated staff who work collaboratively as a team to grow and make The Village the best it can be. The agencies goal is to respect and provide the best service for their clients, by eliminating any kind of bias as the key value at The Village Family Services is respect and equality for all. I have learned a great deal of clinical information as well as administrative work which I am thankful for. I am also very honored for all the help I receive from this agency, as every person in this agency helps with open arms to see all the clients, employees as well as interns succeed!

I am a donor to Village Family Services because I am inspired by the life-changing work they do in the Southern California community. The dedicated staff melds compassion and cultural competence to fulfill their mission to protect children, preserve families and build a stronger, safer community. Village Family Services focuses on the needs of youth and families who are under served, such as homeless youth in the San Fernando Valley, laying the groundwork for a better future.

I have had the opportunity to work with The Village Family Services in many different capacities across their various programs and am so impressed with the values and work ethic the organization prizes. Their commitment to trauma-informed services, a well-trained and highly competent staff to deliver those services, and evaluating themselves in the spirit of continued growth is unparalleled at other agencies. From their leadership to their line staff, anyone who interacts with this agency is guaranteed a pleasant experience where they feel valued and appreciated. The Village Family Services is a model that should be emulated other places. We would be lucky to have more folks like them.

I have been a senior administrator in the nonprofit sector for the past 25+ years, and also a volunteer at The Village Family Services for the past three. The staff is beyond gracious, helpful, and truly care about the children and families that come to them for help. No matter what the need, now matter how long it takes, no matter where the family or child is located in Los Angeles County, TVFS stands ready. Their "target population" is low- and ultra-low Latino households dealing with issues of domestic violence, abuse, or neglect. Not the happiest of subjects and yet the staff at TVFS handles each and every case with complete respect, courtesy, and the amazing cultural understanding and competence that they have been known for since the beginning. I cannot say enough about their professionalism and dedication and it is a honor to work with such an outstanding group. Simply put, they care.......and it shows.

In 2012 I had the blessed opportunity to work as a Public Health Intern at The Village Family Services. Within the five months that I was there, I felt a connection to this staff much like my own family. I learned social responsibility skills that will forever be instilled in my practice as a public health professional. Everyone is treated as a valuable, unique individual. Every voice is heard.

The services at TVFS are evidence-based and current in regards to best-practices. A holistic approach is harvested and the fruits of this collective labor by this staff are sweet and nurturing.

I provided pro bono immigration services to a client of the drop-in center within the past few months. The staff of the drop-in center were always extremely responsive, professional, and helpful throughout the process. Their passion for providing youth with a safe and stable environment within which they may find peace or direction shines through in the work that they do. It was a pleasure to work with them and I would gladly do it again.

I was very lucky to receive a summer internship at The Village Family Services of North Hollywood. At the time I was an aspiring academic wanting to continue my education and pursue my MSW degree at USC. During my time at The Village, I was able to work closely with the social work staff and other mental health organizations that we collaborated with, at the time, to provide cultural competency workshops. It was a blessing to be able to experience DMH paperwork and write briefs for clinicians because it relates so closely to the work I am doing now as a first year MSW student. I am proud to have been a part of The Village's family because I was able to learn so much and grow in a very nurturing environment. I believe the staff are both dedicated to their clients and nurturing young minds.

I have had the privilege of serving as a Board member for The Village Family Services for the past year, and I am continually inspired by the dedication of the staff and the life-changing work they do. This agency is unique in Southern California because it unites expertise with compassion and cultural competence to focus on the specific needs of children, youth and families that are inadequately served. One of the primary reasons I joined The Village Family Services is because they "envision a day when all children and youth are free of social, emotional, verbal and physical harm" and there's not a more important mission than protecting children from abuse, preserving families and building a stronger, safer community for all.
