Mission: The mission of the united way of the wine country is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community through leadership, community engagement and effective investment.
Programs: 1) 206 earn it! Keep it! Save it! Volunteers processed 5600 tax returns resulting in $2,640,000 federal eitc and $7,600,000 total tax refunds across 5 counties. 2) schools of hope served 522 students, tutored by 584 volunteers in 36 schools in sonoma, mendocino and lake counties. 3) days of caring provided 899 volunteers and completed 69 projects at 61 different non-profit agencies. 4) 12,644 saved $583,850 on prescription drugs through our promotion of familywize across 5 counties. 5) 4500 children ages 3-5 received school readiness backpacks in sonoma, lake, del norte and humboldt counties. 6) 1,000 children ages 5-8 received summer reading packs containing six books each in sonoma county.
united way of the wine country delivered designated donations to 520 501c3 agencies in accordance to the wishes of 2,308 individuals.
united way's funding for local community service programs delivered the following measurable results:1) over 33,000 residents were connected to health and human resources through a 2-1-1 call center and 45,000 residents connected through a 2-1-1 website in sonoma, mendocino, and humboldt counties. 2) 176 individuals received financial education and asset building services in sonoma and lake counties. 3) 794 individuals were provided with education around cardiovascular disease by trained community health workers in sonoma county. 4) 12 lake county valley fire survivors received financial assistance with recovery. 5) 3 sonoma county high schools produced six little free libraries placed in low-income neighborhoods.
