Causes: Family Counseling
Mission: As a nonprofit organization, the agency's mission is to enhance the lives of children, families and individuals by building opportunities through partnerships and community based support services.
Programs: Since inception, touching families inc. Has served an estimated 2,800 families and 5,000 children through the family group decision program (fgdm). The purpose of fgdm is to empower families to think, plan and use their resources to address family issues. Fgdm gives families choices and opportunities to plan creatively for their children, form community partnerships, and utilize family strengths to resolve family concerns. The family group conference is a key component of fgdm by which a family can meet with relatives, and other formal and informal support systems to address concerns and develop creative solutions to support the needs of their family. The family group conference promotes positive family structure and builds on family strengths to maintain the family unit.
the summer food service program (sfsp) provides free meals to children from low income families so they may receive the same high quality nutrition during school vacations that they get in school cafeterias during the school year. Continued nutrition helps children return to school after summer ready to learn.
