Mission: Our mission is to empower children of all ages to work with their caregivers to build relationships and strengthen the Milwaukee community through partnerships and service experiences in an inclusive environment.
Our vision is to instill the belief in our children that they are responsible for and capable of being dynamic and change-making citizens within their community.
Toddlers and Kids on a Mission strives to provide an environment where all children and families feel safe and affirmed, valued and reflected. We are unaffiliated with any faith traditions or other organizations. We partner with diverse, established, and effective organizations within Milwaukee that, like us, recognize the capability of children to make change, serve others, and build relationships.
Results: Toddlers and Kids on a Mission has introduced hundreds of young children to hands-on, empowering, and respectful service opportunities at inspirational Milwaukee organizations. Along with that, they've given parents of young children a chance to engage in service opportunities alongside their family- thus modeling acts of kindness in real time.
Target demographics: our natural environment, schools, neighborhoods, the elderly, and more
Direct beneficiaries per year: 200 children and 10 local agencies
Toddlers and Kids on a Mission teaches my children that even though they are 4, 2, and 1, they can make a difference in their community and the world. Our favorite missions have include packing homeless bags (and handing them out), serving dinner with SVDP meal programs, and trick-or-treating at our local nursing home.
Our board and leadership team is an amazing group of committed parents who know our kids can do more than we think. The sense of community with other families is a huge reason i feel privileged to be part of Toddlers and Kids on a mission.
Kindness is one of the most important values for us to teach our daughter Audrey. Toddlers and Kids On A Mission help us do this by providing tangeable and meaningful experiences for her. The family centered and varied volunteer opportunities show her she is capable of helping others, and what's more, that lots of kids are helpers. Audrey mission quotes: "Is today a helper day," mornings leading up to a mission. "That little boy have me his stick. He was extra kind!" Earth Day clean-up at the Urban Ecology Center "We made really good soup Mama. I hope the people like it." Mindful Pallet cooking for St. Vincent DePaul meal service.
TOAM chooses and plans events very carefully with kids in mind. Activities for the youngest kids are structured just for their attention spans. Kids of all ages come away from events feeling like they've made a difference, learned something new, and gained an understanding of why we volunteer.
