Tip Me Frederick offers a structured and effective approach to the humane management of feral and stray cat populations. We have had first-hand experience with Tip Me Frederick and it has been exceptionally positive. Tip Me Frederick volunteers provided us with an education while helping both develop and execute a plan to get control of a burgeoning colony of cats. Because of Tip Me Frederick, the colony population is no longer growing, the cats are healthier, and the environmental impact of the cats has even been reduced. This is a group of knowledgeable and caring people who are a tremendous resource in our community.
Thanks to Tio Me Frederick I have been able to spay and neuter lots cats over the years for a very affordable price. Tip Me Frederick makes it easy by lending traps and providing assistance in how to use them. I have three kitties living in my backyard that I spayed and neutered several years ago, a mom and her two kittens. We live close to a barn and several kitties have found their way to our yard that I have spayed and neutered. Additionally I have a friend who had a farm. We were able to trap and spay 15 kitties on her property. I am so thankful for Tip Me Frederick. I don't know how we would have been able to trap and spay all of those kitties at one time without the use of their traps and the affordability. Having them vaccinated gave us piece of mind. I can't say enough about how much they have helped me, not to mention what a pleasure they are to work with.

I also live in a rural area, and a farm near us got rid of their cows, and the cats wandered off. Seems one lovely lady arrived here, and we fed her. Within 2 years I was looking at 21 cats! We fed them,, but it was really out of hand and I was overwhelmed. A friend told us about Tip Me, and I called. They have been wonderful! It took 3 trips but we got them all done except 1 preggers lady, So after she is done weaning the 4 new babies we will get them done with their help and be finished ( I hope). We don't mind feeding and sheltering them,, but the reproduction rate was horrible. They were fantastic with traps and advice, and taking them to a vet for neutering and rabies shots. I understand they don;t ask for payment if you can;t afford it, but we were happy to donate to them to cover the costs and help out. I can not give them enough love for all the service and care they provide, and they love the cats!
I don’t have a personal story, but I have countless friends who have needed help with stray/feral/colonies and they have always jumped to help out immediately. Frederick county is lucky to have them
I have been involved in animal welfare for over 40 years, and have been a huge admirer of Tip me Frederick over its 8 years of operation. TNR works, and Tip Me Frederick is the best example I have ever seen of an organization in this field. Babs Wratten, founder, and dedicated volunteers have never taken a dime for their work. By focusing on spay neuter, they stem the cat overpopulation problem at its source. Volunteers trap cats in all kinds of conditions and weather, and the cats are taken by a ( rented) van to a low cost clinic .I have seen first hand the cats that pass through the hands of a veterinarian for probably the only time in their lives. Some have serious injuries that need to be addressed. The van rental, the surgeries , the medications ....This all costs money. Again: no one gets paid for this work. It is entirely a labor of love. Is it effective ? Absolutely !! Let's look at the numbers. TMF spayed and neutered 1,069 cats last year! It has already done 600 this year. All this at a time when Covid had the country at a standstill. Not this group. They are on a mission. If you step back and think of the reproduction pyramid, then you really get an idea of the absolutely remarkable impact this group is having on community cats in our region. I could keep writing, but the facts speak for themselves. TMF is a well conceived, organized and highly effective group of dedicated animal lovers who deserve all of the help that they can get to continue in this vital work.
Tip me Frederick has helped me TNR many cats in the Hancock area. This group is very important to help the control of cats. The cats depend on them.
wonderful, responsive organization. so appreciate the help with uncle's farm cats he could no longer take care of. he is so grateful. he said his cats were all so healthy and happy after they were spayed and neutered years ago. he got food sometimes and gave food sometimes. he made it a point to donate when he could.
I can't say enough positive things about Tip Me Frederick, especially Babs. A few years ago I had a mama feral give birth to 3 kittens in one of our barns. I was at a loss as to what I was going to do with them... how I was going to afford to get them all spayed/neutered and vetted let alone get them trapped to do it. I reached out to Tip Me Frederick and Babs walked me through the process and got me set up with a local vet. Since then I have had 4 more ferals show up that I have had vetted and two more scheduled to be vetted in the near future. Whenever I've needed help I have been able to reach out and get advice and guidance... from how to trap a "trap smart" cat to handling a cat that is causing problems for the other cats (Babs directed me to a feral cat sanctuary when all tactics failed). It would be wonderful if people would vet their cats so there wouldn't be such a large feral population, but since that is only a dream.... thank goodness for an organization like Tip Me Frederick... what they do for the Frederick area is beyond needed and they give people like me the opportunity to make a cat's life better and safer.
Tip Me Frederick has made it possible for the feral cats in my neighborhood to get spayed/neutered and vaccinated. They are a wonderful rescue!!
I was looking for a cat or kitten as a companion for my current male cat. Tip Me Frederick was so helpful and informative during the entire adoption process and it is clear that they match cats with the best home they possibly can. Lisa, who was my kitten’s foster mom, was so amazing as was Sasha who is the adoption coordinator. Everyone on their team obviously not only cares for the cats in their care, but loves them like their own. Tip Me is the perfect matchmaker devoted to finding these loving felines their furever homes.
This is easily the worst run, disaster of a nonprofit organization. They will help you turn a 4 feral cat problem into an epidemic of 20 or more feral cats.. turning your home and surrounding areas into a slum. Encouraging others to feed feral cats is reckless and irresponsible. They will do nothing but ensure feral cats multiply... and starve to death.
Great organization that cares for Frederick communities and the health and welfare of felines that live in them.
People drop off strays where I live. Thanks to Tip Me Frederick this year I’ve been able to make sure the ones I couldn’t rehome have been neutered and vaccinated for rabies. They made the process so easy for me. Without their help the stray cat population in my area would be more than I could afford to take care of.
My husband and I are having health issues and have asked Tip Me Frederick for help with traping, spaying/neutering the community cats we have been taking care of. Even though it's a holiday weekend they have been communicating with me to get things started. I very much appreciate what this organization does for community cats and the people who care for them.
I had some stray cats show up at my house and Tip Me came and picked some up and got them ready for their forever homes. I am grateful for the work they do not only the sweet, friendly cats, but also for the ferals. They care for ALL cats and try to help them all. They are also very responsive to questions and request for help.
I take care of a feral colony where I live. Tip Me Fred has always been there for me! From helping with the cats being fixed, to lending traps, to vaccinations, and often with lots of advice. Barbara is friendly, knowledgeable, and always available. I highly recommend her/them!
This fantastic group helped me so much! Their work for/with homeless cats is incredible. I can't express how thankful I am for the support they provided!
Tip me Frederick is a volunteer group that goes into cat communities and does TNR. If they find kittens or cats that seem like they are sociable they will foster and find them homes. They work with one of our local petstores to showcase available cats and hold adoption events. If I was in a situation of looking to adopt another cat it would very likely be from them since I always fall in love with the ones that are staying at the pet store. Hard working group of people.
TMF has helped thousands of cats in the Frederick area over the years. We are all better because they exist.
Tip me Frederick is a great organization! They have changed my life by changing my community. Personally, as a kitten foster, I love watching kittens grow and learn to love in a happy and safe environment. It makes my heart smile to see them adopted knowing they are going to safe and loving forever homes. From fixing the strays to finding homes for cats and kittens, they have added so much to the lives of barn owners, homeowners, and cats alike!
Tip Me Frederick was the only rescue that helped with TNR for the feral cats in my neighborhood. They are a wonderful group and have made a huge impact with the feral cat population in Frederick County.
A neighbor advised me of some stray cats in a wooded area where I live. I was overwhelmed when I also found young kittens. Tip me Frederick came out several times & helped trap neuter/spay & with the help of Friends for Life Rescue we were were able to adopt out 8 kittens to wonderful forever homes.
I had a colony of feral cats in my area. Tip Me, helpped trap and fully funded the TNR of over 10 cats. They are always available to give advice and direction. I love them and what they do to help save the cats in our area!
Tip Me Frederick is a great source for those that rescue cats and foster them. Thank you for the great and selfless work you do. This is one of the rescues in her new forever home.
I found a very sick cat on the side of the road and brought him home. He was so dehydrated that his eyes were sunken in and I gave him food and water. He responded well to the food and water but I knew something was wrong but wasn't sure what. I was very worried about the vet bills and finding him a home. I contacted Tip Me Frederick and Babs initially said I could get about a 20 to 25% discount at the vet. The cat was having issues where he was having a hard time urinating. He would literally sit in the litter box for 20 minutes trying to pee. So I took him to the vet and ended up not having to pay any of the vet bill. This was a huge relief for me. Tip Me Frederick also provided some food and medicine for the cat. Since I already have two cats and it would be difficult for me to take on a third,Tip Me Frederick was able to find a home for the cat. I ended up becoming a foster mom for Tip Me Frederick in order to help pay back for what they did for me. I'm very grateful for all the help I received from Tip Me Frederick. Colleen
Thank you for all you do! They have helped spay/neuter some of my animals! And everything they do is through donations!
Tip Me Frederick is always there for me! Without them I would not be able to rescue Spay and neuter. They are most knowledgeable and have many resources willing to offer knowledge and assistance.
I began working with Tip Me Frederick in the fall of 2018 after becoming aware of the organization and it's efforts to help spay/neuter feral cats. It may be a small amount of volunteers but they are very dedicated to helping community cats and getting populations under control in humane ways. Volunteers have been able to step in last minute and help in a variety of ways. Be it by trapping, driving the cats to clinics, raising awareness, or helping find funds to pay for procedures and care.
