What an amazzzzzzing year of artists you've assembled! I've got at LEAST 4 more I'm rather sure I'll be attending! Thanks so much to ALL of you at the Thrasher for bringing this incredible array of uber talented folks to come here and touch our hearts, feed our souls and lift our spirits. It's a very special gift and I am eternally grateful.
The Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake, Wisconsin, is a community gem! We've enjoyed many events there and look forward to many more.

The Thrasher Opera House is a local gem!! They host amazing and fun shows for date nights or fun family nights. Our small community is so lucky to have this, they are always showing up for this town, and we love it!
Wonderful non profit bringing live music and culture to a town that otherwise wouldn’t have it. Love the thrasher!!!
My wife and I recently moved to Green Lake after living in a different state our entire lives. For a small community, there is an amazing amount to do and see. Other things not withstanding, the Thrasher is one of the more influential reasons we chose the community. They consistently bring in top quality and unique artists/groups. This includes former recording stars (Rikki Lee Jones, Kenny Loggins), to well known comedy groups (Second City), to artists unknown to us. The genres are as varied as they are unique and interesting. Blues, country, folk, world music, ethnic, rock, pop, jazz, and more blends than you can shake a stick at. Quite often a lesson or pre-concert session is included.
The Thrasher is a shining, small-town gem with a world view that offers surprises for everyone, all in a place no one would expect, but everyone loves.
My wife and I feel blessed to have such a great performance space in our small community. on occasion, when we are at a show in the "big city", we are reminded of how good we have it. Roby, Martha, Maria & Rachel do a great job of bringing excellent music to Green Lake.
Thrasher Opera House brings an amazing variety of entertainment to a warm, cozy venue. Where else can you visit a charming lake town of 1000 people and listen to award winning musicians like legendary bluesman Eric Bibb, iconic folksinger Tom Rush & founding member of the Byrd's, Roger McGuinn? In addition, the Missoula children's theater keeps returning and involving young people from the area in their 1 week long workshops that culminate in charming performances.
There isn't a bad seat in the house and tickets are reasonably priced. Best of all, the artists love the place and it shows. They keep returning for more small town hospitality from the appreciative audiences!
There are lots of reasons that make me happy about living in Green Lake, but the number one reason for me is: Thrasher Opera House. Thrasher provides many opportunities (almost on a weekly basis) to enjoy a wide variety of live performances--music, especially. I've "discovered" performers new to me, thanks to Thrasher's line-up. In addition to offering great concerts, Thrasher also serves as a community gathering place. It's a site for meetings, forums, and celebrations. Thanks to many generous sponsors and other donors, as well as a solid volunteer force, Thrasher's ticket prices are relatively affordable, allowing a diverse population to enjoy the arts. Thrasher is definitely one of Green Lake's treasures!
The staff of this venue is amazing. My husband and I had our wedding in Green Lake - the ceremony at Vesper Circle in the Green Lake Conference Center and the reception in the Thrasher Opera House. Our guests were blown away by how welcoming the entire town was and in particular by how attentive and accommodating the Thrasher staff was. The Opera House was a beautiful venue with a lot of charm and personality, and our live band sounded incredible on the stage. HIGHLY recommend this venue to other people either looking for event space or a great place to hear live music in an intimate setting.
The Thrasher Opera House has a crazy high-quality program for its size, due to the great team running and the community of Green Lake supporting it. Pick any concert and just go, you will not regret it AND probably go again ;-)
While I am also a board member, I love to comment from the standpoint of an experienced nonprofit professional. The Thrasher is such a fine example of a social enterprise. They do so much for the community besides providing great concerts (which would be enough). They sponsor the Missoula Children's Theater, host community events, and draw people to Green Lake That might not otherwise come. It's a pleasure to be involved with an organization that does such great work while maintaining financial integrity.
Thrasher Opera House (TOH) is a PEARL to this community and central Wisconsin! It brings music of all genres, theater including Missoula’s Children Theater twice a year, comedy including Second City each summer, and so much more! It is a destination location for many visiting this resort community that includes the deepest lake in Wisconsin, many fine restaurants and miles of beautiful countryside to hike and bike. If you have not yet experienced a performance at TOH, there is yet one more item to add to your bucket list!
Every concert I attend at the Thrasher seems to have a moment or two that are absolutely electrifying — something you'd like to bottle and bring back home. I don't know why this seems to be unique to the Thrasher (for me) but it may have something to do with the venue's artist selection, physical intimacy and wonderful staff.
This outstanding venue a block away from Wisconsin’s deepest inland lake is a treasure as it hosts largely very talented individuals on the cusp of making it big. This means it hosts artists who, while not household names, are toward the top of their respective fields and so make every effort to excel in their music/performance.
This was my first time visiting not only The Thrasher Opera House but also Green Lake. I was there to enjoy Todd Mosby and the New Horizons Ensemble. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the venue. From the staff member who originally took my phone order for the tickets to all the volunteers we came into contact with during the show, everyone was top notch. Very friendly and very professional and such a beautiful venue! Very good sound and lighting, ample street parking all wrapped up in a historical building in a beautiful location. Well worth the trip! Come for a show and stay the weekend!
What was a classic old opera house from many years past has been meticulously resurrected into an amazing venue in a great small Wisconsin town. It is a great place to catch a show. It's small, intimate and offers a close up experience with the performer(s). Highly, highly recommended.
I attended my second concert at this venue on February 5th, 2011. It was a concert by John McCutcheon.
This is a fine venue with good acoustics, seating and view of the stage. The old opera house has been lovingly restored and I look forward to attending more events there in the future.
The calendar of events lists many well known performers from a variety of musical tastes.
It was well worth the drive from Madison, Wisconsin. I encourage everyone to attend events at the Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake, Wisconsin.
Thrasher Opera House is a gift to our community that keeps on giving. My family has benefited from a wide array of experiences in a beautiful setting. We've heard George Winston perform during the Christmas holiday season. We have had the pleasure of listening to numerous other talent musicians.
We've attended Missoula Children's Theater performances when our daughter was very small and watched her blossom as an actor in 8 productions put on by Missoula Children's Theater over the last 6 years. Our independent small business believes this is such an amazing opportunity for local children that we have begun sponsoring this program whenever possible.
Just this month we've gone to Thrasher Opera House twice for very diverse evenings: a children's performance of the Frog Prince through MCT and a screening of an independent film, Feed the Fish, which was made in Wisconsin. Both were affordable experiences in a lovely venue within 20 minutes from our home. The arts are a very important part of our lives and we look forward to continuing to benefit from Thrasher Opera House as a part of our community.
When I look around the audience at any of our performances, I see total engagement in peoples faces, whether the venue is Celtic, folk, country, pop, jazz, theater or comedy. This to me is the reward of all the hard work that it takes to keep the doors open of such a gem in our small community! Many of these faces in the audience belong to those that have traveled often many miles from our neighboring states to see their favorite artist perform. And, each performer finds the warmth, acoustics, and overall experience of Thrasher to be so unique that repeat performances are almost always requested by the artist. If you haven't experienced Thrasher, this MUST be put on your "A" list!
The Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake is an absolute treasure. The programming has always been diverse and very entertaining. My family and friends look forward to the performances. The staff does an excellent job of involving the community youth in many educational and fun projects. All of our local businesses have benefitted from the extra activity The Trasher Opers House created.
The Thrasher is definitely a FIND. The building is well maintained, acoustics are great, soft great chairs, wine and beer are available which is a nice touch, the staff are always very kind and helpful, and the PRICE is right. They offer very affordable events so one can truly experience new ventures without hesitation. We drive one hour to come to the Thrasher and it is well worth it. We have a lovely dinner at a restaurant nearby ant then walk over to the event.
We have seen a jazz singer, Eric Bibb that we had seen in Liverpool, England where we sat in a large stadium and he was quite far away to sitting just three rows away from him at the Thrasher!!!! For St. Patty's weekend we saw a wonderful riveting irish band, and recently we saw the two men from Switchback who sang a mix of their own songs and Christmas songs. Even our 21 and 34 year old sons thoroughly enjoyed their phenomenal voices and instrumental talent. We are incredibly fortunate to have the Trasher available and one that is able to search out for a wide variety of talent. We have NEVER been disappointed yet, and doubt we ever will be. Because we have never been disappointed it also encourages one to try new events that you may not have thought about going to. We are anxious to see and hear our next event. We have been telling others about this "find" and will be bringing more with us as we continue to venture to this beautiful town.
We have enjoyed many musical events at Thrasher. Almost all have been artists we would not have been aware of, or unable to see because of cost of tickets, and distance to travel to a larger venue. It is a rare occurrence to be disappointed in the performances that we choose to attend.
We love everything about Thrasher- the outstanding acoustics, intimate atmosphere, comfy seats, as well as being able to meet our friends who also enjoy the music here. Very often the artists comment on how much they love to perform at Thrasher. They seem to deeply appreciate our small town charm, friendliness, outstanding welcome they receive, and our love of their music. It feels very cool to be a part of this 'inside' perspective. There is always an opportunity to meet & speak with the artists who perform here. I think they view it as a 'getaway' stop while on the road.
We love Thrasher, and wish it a long, prosperous run.
