Mission: Midwest Brain Injury Clubhouse, founded in 1999, to provide additional services to adults with brain injuries. Managed care and increased number of uninsured individuals result in many returning home with significant disabilities despite progress observed in therapy. The goal of the Clubhouse is allow young survivors to return home with community based services to continue to grow and improve and possibly obtain gainful employment.
Programs: At mbic, the strengths and abilities of individual members contribute to the combined success of all members. Staff and members work together to complete individual tasks and group projects required for the day-to-day operation of the clubhouse. The daily work of the clubhouse is completed within several units:*business unit (administrative work, computers) *employment unit (return to work or school) *community integration (outings & volunteering)*health & wellness program (exercise & educational speakers)work relationships and communication skills are developed and maintain progress within the organzation, they are able to develop and strengthen abilities that support their personal goals.
