Mission: The Mission of The JMML Foundation is to cure Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML) and to improve the quality of life of JMML patients and families through research, education, advocacy, and charity.Our Vision: Through our effective, efficient management of public funds, we will be the primary enabler for the research necessary to cure JMML and the primary international support resource for families of JMML patients.
Programs: Jmml international symposia & working group meetings. Through this program, the jmml foundation coordinates an international scientific forum, driven by a focus on the disease and not by country or institutional goals, combining basic & translational research to improve survivability among jmml patients. In fy14, we co-sponsored with the national cancer institute (nci) the 5th jmml international working group meeting, our 8th conference overall, on december 7th, 2012 in atlanta, ga. This meeting gathered 14 representatives from the 4 major jmml research groups throughout the world to work towards the improvement and standardization of jmml treatment & research worldwide. Results of this meeting included definition of and commitment to 4 collaborative projects: an international prospective study; us participation in an ewog-mds azacytidine trial; jmml colony assay standardization; and follow-up on current cbl-positive patients and development of symptoms for cbl screening.
