Mission: When the Springfield Home for Friendless Women and Children was established on April 27,1865, it became the first charitable institution of its kind not only in Springfield, but also in all of Western Massachusetts. The "Home" was founded to respond to a multitude of problems facing widowed women and children at the end of the Civil War era. With over 135 years of continuous service and d.b.a. The Children's Study Home, we continue our mission of providing needed services to troubled children and families in our community through high quality educational, residential, and community based services.
