Good day all just wanted to give a big thank you to Arasan Rural Development Society(ARDS) for the great Tuition Centers to Poor Children at kalakad Teachers Resource Guide which has a superfluity of great ideas for teaches to utilize. The Arasan Tuition centre was very informative and the teachers were very excited about Pedagogy they use the hand note to enhance the academic skill every day.
Thank you so much for providing my son with tutoring assistance related to his Science, Math and English studies apart from these the children will be trained in good health principles, hygiene practices and civic behaviors along with the moral education. Because of your help, my son he is earning better grades and enjoying Tuition classes so much more. It is so encouraging to see this progress. We will be in touch soon to schedule more tutoring sessions..
Tuition Centers to Poor Children
The rich children get extra coaching through paid tuition classes whereas this facilitation is denied to poor children. Hence they stay behind in education which ultimately ends in school drop-outs. In order to help the poor children, we propose to conduct 100 Free Tuition Centres in Tirunelveli District which will help 4000 poor students to be benefited. It is found out that these centres will immensely help the poor children in pursuing their education and promote their performances. In each center 40 poor children studying 6th to 12th class will be admitted. 2 special Tutors will be imparting supportive education. The centers will be running at the evening hours (5.00 p.m to 7.00 p.m) after the closing of schools at 4.30 p.m. A cup of nutritious beverage (hot milk) will be provided to the children. All the children will be provided orientation education on computer knowledge once in a week. Besides these, the children will be trained in good health principles, hygiene practices and civic behaviors along with the moral education.
Thanks again for all of your help.

Arasan Rural Development Society is a Non-Profit, Non-Political and charitable grass-root level organization. Providing service to the poor and the disadvantaged since 1988.
It aims at empowering the community, specifically women and girls from poor and marginalised communities, to lead a life with dignity and improved living standards.
Balwadi Education to children
The poor women in our target villages are hard working labourers. They need to go for manual works with leaving their small babies in their homes. For caring such babies in the age group of 3 to 5, the grown up children (mostly the girls) are retained in the homes as baby sitters. Thus the children especially girls become school drop outs. Moreover the kids also suffer with mal nutrition and losses their opportunity to begin their basic education. In this background ARDS began to operate balwadi centres in Kalakad and Cheranmahadevi blocks.
These centres operate from 9.00 a.m to 4.00 p.m with the intervals for food, games and snapping. Children are taught alphabets, numbers, names of birds, animals, objects and the back ground of their neighborhood. They learn through play way methods. They are also practiced on good health principles such as proper methods of hand washing, nail care, tooth brushing and using toilets. (While these children adopt these health principles in their homes, they become health ambassadors to their poor illiterate parents). In order to promote the health of the children, mid day nutrition is also provided. Periodic health check-ups are conducted in which height and weight of the children is also measured. Each centre is administered by one instructor and one helper. One health worker regularly visits these centres.
We require funds for running these centers continuously.?? Presently our centers run at rental buildings and hence we propose to construct new and convenient buildings for our children.
ARDS welcomes you to participate in our development programmes by making donations and/or sponsorships. You can also work as a volunteer to help the poor and the needy in a participatory development process.
Please contribute your mite in our endeavours to improve the socio-economic conditions of rural poor.

Homes for the Distressed Women
Ours is the joint family system having the families sheltered together which often become the reason for family disputes, issues between husbands and wives, domestic violence, dowry harassment, etc. The women become victims and often forced out of the homes. Even though they make complaints with police, they can't go back to their homes after putting case against their husbands/in laws. In these circumstances, suicide alone seems to be the solution for them. Our Short Stay Home provides timely shelter to such women and extends all possible counseling, legal aid and rehabilitation services.
Secondly many young girls become the victims to the sexual traps of the anti socials. When it is exposed, the girls are abandoned both by the persons involved and their parents. The girls are adversely affected both psychologically and physically when they become pregnant. Our Home provides attentive care to their feelings and sorrows and consoles them in their depression and ensures safe shelter, food, health care, delivery and post natal services, counseling, legal aid and rehabilitative services. The main objective of the Home is preparing the discarded women and girls as independent in terms of socio economic needs. Besides this, the children of these distressed women are also being cared with free education, nutrition, recreation etc. The families are contacted for reproach measures so that they can restart their family life if possible. The rehabilitative training (such as basket making, toys making, sewing, typing) have enabled our inmates to upgrade their skills and gain economic independence.
Presently our Home runs at rental building and hence we propose to construct a new and convenient building for our inmates. ARDS requests individuals, the donors and organizations to support our mission through generous donations / grants / partnerships

Rehabilitation for Disabled
ARDS is partnering with the District Rehabilitation Office for the Disabled; Tirunelveli in implementing National Programme for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disability (NPRPD) in Kalakad block of Tirunelveli district. It aims at ensuring early intervention for checking the severity of disability.
ARDS has conducted a survey for identifying the disabled persons. The census helps to ascertain the number of needy persons, and the nature of assistance they require. Vocational training programmes are organized to help disabled persons take up self?employment. Steps have been taken for forming self?help groups (SHGs) for the disabled for ensuring credit?linkage with banks. The focus of the programme is to make the disabled persons lead a decent life with an income on par with normal persons, and to eradicate the social stigma. We also offer counseling to the family members for treating the disabled with dignity.
We have also identified that there are about 1738 physically handicapped and mentally retarded persons with unemployment and poverty. The state of physical deformity and mental illness hinder than to work as manual laborers. They require our support for getting aids & appliances along with medical care services. Provision of skill up gradation trainings and credit assistance for their income generation units will help them to lead dignified livelihood. We require kind donations for rehabilitating these marginalized groups of people.
As on date 1216 disabled persons were issued Identity cards and 179 disabled persons were assisted to get monthly subsidy grant from government.
