Causes: International, International Human Rights, International Peace & Security
Mission: Advancing the worldwide study and strategic use of nonviolent actions in conflicts by encouraging research and policy studies on the methods of nonviolent action and their past use in diverse conflicts, sharing the results of this research with the public through publications, conferences, and the media, and consulting with groups in conflict about the strategic potential of nonviolent action.
Programs: Policy and outreach program: responds to requests for expert advice from those seeking to rely on nonviolent action in conflicts and explores how nonviolent resistance can be applied to the national defense needs of some countries.
publications program: produces a monograph series, as well as conference reports, pamphlets and occassional papers. The institution has also completed the editing of an encyclopedia on nonviolent action and an annotated bibliography. The institution also supports program-related media productions.
research program: tracks ongoing nonviolent struggles throughout the world; provide the institution staff with updates and in-depth information about a variety of groups and situations; maintains the institution's socail media accounts; produces relevant articles to post on the institutions's website; and assists senior staff with research projects.
