I first found out about Taffety Punk when a professor recommended that I see their all-female production of Julius Caesar. Impressed by the creativity, daring, and spunk in this small theater group, I decided I wanted to contribute to their success as much as possible. I believe in the passion and attitudes of these artists and find what they bring to the DC theater scene to be fresh, raw, and truly special. Volunteering for them is not only a way for me to promote this amazing company, but also a way to become involved with genuinely wonderful people. I am tickled pink to be a member of their Street Team and will continue to give my time to them as often as possible to keep this incredible company growing!
Taffety Punk Theatre Company rocks! In a field that's lost a lot of integrity, TPTC sticks to its ideals no matter what. High-quality theatre, cheap tickets despite rising costs, hard work, a DIY spirit, and a generous attitude are only some of the qualities that make TPTC a wonderful organization. Many people could learn a lot from this company, and I hope to see it continue to rise on DC's radar. DC is lucky to have a small company of this caliber in town.
Working with Taffety Punk over the years, both as a board member and as an affiliated artist, has made a significant difference in my career. More importantly, though, Taffety Punk has absolutely energized the theatergoing community in DC. Audiences flock to their shows, which challenge and provoke and thrill in equal measure, if only to feel alive and blown away in a shared space full of relative strangers: an experience that's become all too rare in our country. I've seen so many people walk out of so many shows looking like they've been changed. I'm honored to be a part of the organization.
