Mission: Providing nonprofit organizations with business and development expertise, empowering them to focus on their missions.
Programs: The organization provided 20,696 direct service hours of business and development services to our supported organizations. These services include accounting, database and administrative support, fund development support, and board and strategy development support. These services build capacity, create back office efficiency, and provide tools and expertise that allow supported organizations to focus their time and resources on achieving their stated mission. One hundred seventy-three (173) nonprofit 501(c)(3) agencies were served. Supported organizations also benefit from shared spaces with access to conference rooms.
the organization promotes "best practices" for nonprofits in the community through our training sessions and leadership awards. Each year we award the excellence in nonprofit leadership awards. The nomination and awards process educates board and staff leadership about the importance of governance, oversight, and transparency. The support kansas city (skc) staff developed and presented 19 workshops and training sessions for nonprofits in the areas of accounting and fiscal management, fund development, database management and governance. In addition to the awards and training sessions, the skc staff met with 45 agencies one-on-one to provide guidance and resources as they explored ways to build their organizational capacity.
the organization acted as the fiscal sponsor and backbone service organization for the cultural competency collective of gkc, the advocacy capacity collective, and #healthiermo. These collectives seek to enhance nonprofit sector skills, organizational effectiveness, and engagement of stakeholders.
