Causes: Human Services, Seniors, Supportive Housing for Older Adults
Mission: Summit Independent Living Center, Inc. is a non-profit, non-residential program serving people with mobility, neurological, hearing, visual, and other disabilities. Summit provides consumer and advocacy services to residents of Missoula, Ravalli, Mineral, Lake, Sanders, Flathead, and Lincoln Counties as well as works on a systemic level nationally and across Montana to improve the lives of individuals living with disabilities. We believe that people with disabilities have the right to control their own lives and enjoy the same opportunities as all other citizens. This includes the right to: Make their own decisions and direct their own affairs, Have a family life, Have choice in services, transportation, housing, education and employment, Participate fully in the social, economic and political life in their communities, and Contribute their unique talents and abilities as respected members of their communities

Programs: The medicaid self-directed personal assistance services (sdpas) program allows summit to act as an intermediary to provide self-directed personal assistance services to disabled persons. For the year summit served 260 individual consumers with personal assistance services.
the independent living program, supported by department of education part b and c grants, allows summit to operate as a center for independent living. Summit used the funds to provide advocacy, peer support, independent living skills training, and vocational services for 675 individuals in seven western montana counties. An additional 926 individuals received information and referral services through the program. Summit also conducts extensive education and advocacy to bring about positive social change resulting in increased opportunities, independence and quality of life for all persons with disabilities.
