Mission: Family Development Center's goal is to help parents be the best parents they can be.
Discovery Learning Center’s mission is to provide quality, accredited early childhood care and education in a supportive environment; that support extends to the children, their families, and their community. The goal of everyone working with the children is to help each child have more positive feelings about him/herself, including confidence in the ability to learn, increasing self-control, positive social relationships; and exploring new experiences, with the result of growing confident, competent, caring children.
Results: NAEYC Accreditation rated 6 out of 10 standards at 100% compliance, with an average 97% compliance rate across all 10 standards.
The 2022-23 school year and summer camp will have awarded over $120,000 in scholarships.
Target demographics: Families and children in the Routt County area between the ages of 3 and 6 years old for Discovery; Families with children ages 0-36 months for Newborn Network.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 85 children and their families who attend Discovery; 45 children and their families who receive Parents as Teachers home visits.

I have two children who attended Discovery Learning Center and am so happy they were able to have a wonderful start to their school life. The Preschool and PreK classes are taught in a fun, loving environment for all the children and are inclusive of all children. I appreciated this fact, because I have a child that is shy and not very outgoing, but the staff always knew what my child was doing and how they were doing. The teachers are so special. I am very grateful my children had time to learn life lessons and become prepared for Kindergarten with the entire staff. It is a very special school.
We have been so blessed with the opportunity to have our children attend Discovery Learning Center. The staff is amazing, educated, caring and so much fun!! My boys have grown in so many ways since being in their classrooms, and it more than prepared my oldest for kindergarten! He was excelling in everything;) This school is full of love and they have always helped us out in more ways than we can count or thank them for. Like I stated before, such an amazing blessing I am thankful for everyday!!
This place is amazing! The professionalism and qualifications of every staff member is out of sight! Staff members treat children and families with respect and compassion. The curriculum that the classrooms use is top notch, and the kids take field trips on a really cool bus! The communication between staff and families is thorough and prompt. My son just started here, and I have seen him grow exponentially within his first few weeks. I highly recommend the Discovery Center!

School Schedule is accommodating for the working parents, but Much more than a childcare center, and more than the average school too. This is a special environment.
I have had the privilege to serve on the Family Development Center/Discovery Learning Center Board of Directors in addition to serving as a three time volunteer chair of the annual fundraiser. Tami Havener has provided clear, consistent leadership with a program always focused on providing the best environment for the children and families served. The organization has strong fiscal management and is very well staffed with great planning and organization. When I have contributed as a donor to the organization, I know my contributions are well spent and directly impact the bottom line of this great facility.
This little pre-school and kindergarten is an oasis of learning, nurturing, caring, and fun. The staff is top notch. The Director is one of the most dedicated people I know. I cannot stress enough what an amazing experience it has been for my family.
Excellent preschool/daycare! DLC offers a well planned program that fosters self confident, kind, inquisitive little people. My son loves his teachers, his friends, his classroom and the awesome outdoor play area. I never stress about him when I’m at work. I know he is happy, safe and loved.
