Mission: The St. Louis Park Emergency Program’s mission is to identify, address and respond to the critical and emergency needs of residents in St. Louis Park.
Target demographics: Residents experiencing financial crisis or poverty
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 3,600 St. Louis Park children and adults.
Geographic areas served: St. Louis Park, Minnesota
Programs: We are the St. Louis Park community food shelf and social service agency. We directly provide food and clothing to residents in need, as well as advocacy, referrals, and build a collaborative relationship.
Beyond food, clothing, and access to social workers, STEP runs a volunteer transportation program for medical appointments, emergency financial assistance to prevent homelessness and for short-term job transportation, backpacks and school supplies to students, diapers and baby formula, Kosher food, birthday bags and holiday toys.
Since 1975, STEP volunteers and professional staff have been empowering lives and restoring hope.
I'm a STEP volunteer and I truly love the opportunity to talk with and assist our clients, as well as to work with our wonderful staff and other volunteers. I'm very happy that we now are able to help people not only with food and transportation, but also with rental assistance.
I am a STEP volunteer and I love it. I am so pleased that STEP can now assist not only with food and clothing but also with rental assistance. Both the STEP staff and the volunteers are very hard-working and all do their best to assist our clients in whatever way they can. I love talking with our clients and getting to know them a little bit. It is a true honor.
STEP provides so many fantastic services to the community, and has a wonderful staff and amazing, dedicated volunteers. They're also very fiscally responsible, and creative fundraisers - telling the organization's story in interesting and engaging ways. The totality of this well-run nonprofit makes it easy to keep them on my annual donation list.
