Mission: Saavi provides programs and services to meet the needs of individuals with vision loss, promoting individuals to become independent and active participants in the community.
Programs: Comprehensive day program services for blind adults through des rehabilitation services administration. Services include orientation and mobility training for independent travel; home management training: braille; access technology; individual counseling, support groups, and blindness specific class to support a student in orienting to vision loss; career exploration job readiness, and job placement/retention; ged preparation; english as a second language; health and wellness. In this period, these comprehensive services were provided for; sixty-six (66) in phoenix, forty-six (46) in tucson, az and seventeen (17) in yuma, azacademic supported education services for twenty-seven (27) blind college students in tucson, two (2) in yuma and forty-six (46) in phoenixbep - business enterprise program held its second training cycle this fiscal year as an extension of supported education and job training. Two (2) individuals participated in the program and engaged in training with the vision to manage vending and dining within the business enterprise program. This program has trained five (5) in total, with all participants successfully obtaining their vending license. Adult residential services for 16 (16) blind vocational rehabilitation students residential program for twenty-seven (27) blind and visually impaired individuals transitioning out of high school (stepping out program)six week summer residential camp (ready set go youth! ) for twenty-five (25) teenage students in july 2014 and thirty-two (32) in june 2015 for blind and visually impaired high school transitional youth ages fourteen to twenty years oldreaching empowerment through achievement and learning (real) program program for blind children services included;-two week summer day camp (nfb bell academy ) for twenty-two (22) blind children ages five to twelve years old-weekend programming events for blind youth ages k to 12th grade; attendance 320 students, 163 parents with 20 events of activities including daily living instruction, communication skills, orientation and mobility and other social and enrichment activities. Transportation program received six (6) new vehicles as part of the federal transit program to be used throughout the state to provide transportation for students and blind staff. Program provided 10,200+ rides for blind and visually impaired individuals with transportation and 269,539 miles were driven. Provided independent living services statewide for an average of 46 individuals per month who are blind, 85% of who are seniors over the age of 65. Provided day treatment activities for nineteen (19) developmentally disabled individuals who were also blind and visually impaired which included 1,736 hours of programming, delivering 28,176 units of service through a contract with arizona division of developmental disabilitiesphoenix children's adaptive sports program conducted 7 events for blind children of all ages. The program served 89 students and 16 family members with 138 hours of direct activities between january and june including; introduction to goal ball (olympic event), indoor rock climbing, beep baseball, karate and martial arts classes and a hiking/biking event.
