Mission: The south shore conservatory of music provides community access to quality education in music, drama, and dance to over 3,000 students from 1,500 families throughout the south shore area of massachusetts.
Programs: Private and group instruction is offered for more than 3,000 children and adults, from beginning through advanced levels in piano, guitar, voice, and the full range of orchestral instruments. Children as young as six can begin traditional lessons. Students may register at any time during the semester for 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons. The conservatory provides the highest quality arts education and includes the following benefits to all private lesson students: - optional weekly performance workshops under the direction of the dean of students. -regularly scheduled recitals in a relaxed atmosphere to help the students gain performance confidence. - a faculty of diverse talents and personalities such that making the appropriate student/teacher match is always possible. - annual concerto and departmental competitions with scholarship awards. - discounted theory and musicianship classes. - discounts on all chamber and small ensembles.
the duxbury music festival at the duxbury campus brings a select group of approximately 20 students who participate in multiple private lessons and intensive ensemble coaching as well as a variety of daily performance opportunities. A generous allocation of time for daily practice ensures that students have the opportunity to reap the benefits of their individual and ensemble coaching. The program includes: three 1-hour private lessons, four 1-hour ensemble coaching sessions, numerous student recitals, five faculty concerts, solo and chamber music master classes, and solo and chamber ensemble competitions.
through our evening under the stars series, the south shore conservatory hosts various performances every saturday night throughout the summer. The conservatory looks to host an array of performers and styles of music to promote musical appreciation within the community.
