Have you come across a child who can neither see, hear and speak? Yes, 3 disabilities together! Can you imagine what and how this child will learn, live and grow, especially when 95% of our learning comes from what we see and hear! Sense India works with such "deafblind" and multi-sensory impaired children and young adults. We are striving to bring meaning into such lives through education, training and support to parents. It is almost 20 years that I have been with Sense India and have witnessed transformed lives through your support so come forward and extend a helping hand.

The organization efficiently handhold each of its project partner in project implementation to ensure support and proper inclusion of every child with deafblindness and MSI identified. Its a model organization working on education, healthcare, vocational training as well as advocating for rights of persons with deafblindness.

Great work for people with deaf blindness and supporting the deaf blindness.
I know this organisation. It is a national wide organisation, working for persons with deafblindness in India. The organisation had great role in getting deafblindenss being recognized by Govt. of India and to include deafblindness as one of the disabilities through the RPwD Act - 2016.
Feel proud to become a supporter of Sens International India.
With Sense India- you can see the commitment and passion they have as a team and an organisation to work for a group that is marginalized by society.
keep up the great work
Sense India is a very outstanding organization with excellent track record. It is known for its transparency and accountability. It has set highest standards of statutory compliance and governance. It has succeded in mobilizing from the Coporate and the individuals within the coutnry. It is well respected by many State Governments as well as Central Government.
I have been part of Sense International India from the day of inception. In fact, I was part of the interview committee which appointed the first Director. Subsequently, I was Chairperson of the Board as well. The growth of Sense India is truly unparalleled in respect of its spread, coverage, reach and penetration to remote areas as well. Due to efforts of Sense team, the services for persons with deafblindness are becoming a true reality. What a great achievement that the newly enacted Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 recognizes deafblindness as a stand alone disability. Similarly, the Scheme of Provision of Assistive Devices to Persons with Disabilities also recognizes deafblindness and allocates resources for provision of need based devices to such persons. The Rehabilitation Council of India, a statutory body, also granted recognition to teacher training course for the teachers of the deafblind. It is all due to efforts of team of Sense India that representatives to this organization are now invited to most national level committees on promotion of various aspects of services for persons with disabilities. The Sense India on the occasion of celebration of 20 years of its meritorious services, has convened a national level conference for the educators. About 400 Special Educators shall be attending this conference. Even 4 months before the conference, it is fully booked and and there in no scope of new registration. Such a fantastic response speaks about the popularity of the organization among the special educators. The organization is well known for its transparency, accountability, statutory compliance and professional approach to all its activities and initiatives. According to me, Sense India is most efficiently managed, well governed and well respected non-profit organization with a clear mandate of providing individual need based services to persons with deafblindness. It is a matter of great honour for me that I have a true witness of growth, progress and success of this organization. It has emerged truly a national level, well spread and well respected voluntary organization.
(Explanation of picture - Thanks to Sense India that Shruti is the first deafblind girl who has completed University Level Diploma in Physiotherapy from BPA School of Physiotherapy.
Sense International India is a great example of an effective organization. Keep up the good work!
Sense International India do amazing work empowering some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people. The results of their support for people with deafblindness are fantastic and they manage it on slim resources. Their work is helping to ensure that no-one is left behind - as per the Sustainable Development Goals that Governments including India have signed up to. They are also sharing their expertise with non-profits in Nepal and Bangladesh to enable empowerment and support of people with deafblindness in those countries and have recently returned from delivering training in Sri Lanka. They are impressive!
Sense International is a great organisation, with a team of dedicated and expert staff/volunteers
SI India reaches to the poorest and most marginalised by their sensory and physical disabilities and the lack of knowledge and sometimes rejection that surrounds their education. From teaching a child to be able to stand or sit, to brush their teeth, maybe eat and drink by themselves, to enabling the more independent ones to integrate in mainstream schools, to train young adults to set up their own small businesses supported by family member, SI India impacts on the whole family. Parents can begin to see a future of greater independence and achievements both their child and for themselves, they are freed to work without worrying about their child or having to leave them tethered at home for their safety, household income can grow and their family's status in the community is more secure. SI India has improved the lives of thousands of families across the majority of Indian States (23 out of 29), working through training and overseeing the work of local partners, state health, welfare and education institutions, leaving solid expertise behind to continue the work.
Sense International are a fantastic organisation. Their expertise in working with people with deaf blindness is unrivalled and the staff are compassionate and inspirational
Sense International is a highly respected and effective organisation, working with and for people with deafblindness in India, and providing technical support to other countries in South Asia to ensure that No one is Left Behind. Thanks to Sense International, Deafblindness is now recognised as a unique disability in India. Support Sense International India to ensure that the rights of people with deafblindness are now realised.
Sense India the only organization working with person with deafblindness. Sense is doing in really in very remote areas of various state of India where no other organization has reached. And more thing I want to say if you want to see the equality then you should visit sense India at least Once. A to z all the people are equal and very humble.
I have been part of the development sector for over 15 years and most of it spent in the area of disability. However, I have only know of Sense International India doing such remarkable work in the area of Deafblindness across India.
It is truly remarkable and a testimony to their accomplishments when one hears of the organisation & its work without even meeting the people that make it possible.
So a review. I, being just a commoner, am not in a position to review the great work that people of Sense are doing continuously for past 20 years. On one hand I feel really happy as I get to know what actually is being done, as couple of friends who are working there keep sharing, and on the other hand I feel I didn't try much to do something for physically disabled, instead I get myself entangled in stupid day to day miniscule problems of life. Kudos to the entire team of Sense India who are trying to beautify the lives of the most beloved humans of God, A big big Thank to all of you. Kudos to the deafblind people who in spite of facing actual problems of life, are trying hard to give some meaning to their lives.
I HAVE BEEN DONATING TO SENSE INTERNATIONAL INDIA SINCE LAST 6 YEARS. THEY HAVE BEEN DOING SOME FANTASTIC WORK IN INDIA FOR DEAF BLINDNESS AND CREATING AWARENESS IN THIS SECTOR.
I WISH TO ALSO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM OF SENSE INDIA FOR GETTING DEAF BLINDNESS RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE DISABILITIES AND IS NOW PART OF THE "THE RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES ACT, 2016". THIS WILL POSITIVELY IMPACT THE LIVES OF MANY FAMILIES ACROSS INDIA.
THEIR AWARENESS DRIVES SUCH AS MESSENGERS ON CYCLES ARE SOME UNIQUE EXPERIENCES THAT WE GET TO SHARE WITH DEAF BLIND PERSONS.
I FULLY SUPPORT THE PASSIONATE TEAM OF SENSE INDIA AND CONGRATULATE THEM
Sense india is one of the few NGOs I have known working selflessly in the field of deaf blindness which is rare. Their passion for work and the commitment is to be applauded.
I have seen their work and have always admired the dedication of the saff.
Congratulations to Akhil and his team for working with deaf blindness for over 2 Decades now.
Am sharing a photo of the promotional event done by sense india - messenger on cycles .
I still remember the day I stepped into Sense India's office in A'bad where I met team of SI, driven to fulfill the vision of organisation of bringing meaning into the lives of deafblind children & adults and become active members of the society. I got an opportunity to work with Sense India and I have witness wonderful transformation of deafblind individual. Sense India is the only organisation working for deafblindness along with their teachers and parents across India. 20 years of changing lives and with our support they can reach out to many more in another 20 years!
I have seen Sense India grow over 20 years, how the wonderful staff and partners have changed the lives of so many children and families. They have given hope to so many, truly inspiring work. Well done Team India. Gillian Morbey
I have been working as a volunteer with Sense International India for the past six months. Great team putting up great work together! It is with great enthusiasm that the team comes together to provide support structure and facilities to enable the deaf-blind children to learn activities of their daily learning and other skills. The team also facilitates collection of funding to enable all the support activities. All in all it has been a richly rewarding experience to work with Sense International India and help the deaf-blind children whose world otherwise becomes very limited!
The team at Sense International India is one with passion towards persons with deafblindness and they are reaching out to more of the unidentified day by day. All the best as you make it to greater heights.
Sense India is a well-governed vibrant team of committed professionals who give their best in reaching out to persons with deafblindness. The philosophy of working with partner organisations helps reach out to the maximum and the long term relationship with organisations around India is indeed impressive and a commendable achievement.
Best wishes for the milestones to be left behind in the coming years!!
Deafblindness being a unique disability needs specialized focus and intervention. I have been a part of Sense India since 5 years and i must say that lives of Deafblind and family members are transformed . There is a huge difference in saying & doing ,here we believe in doing things. Sense India does not only focus on Educational, therapeutic, vocational intervention, but it also pursues into a adult being an active member of the society through income generation programmes being specifically developed for the adult. over the years i have seen those tears of joy of the parents when their Deafblind daughters & sons hands over the income that they have earned through their business. I am proud to be a part of Sense International India
Sense International India is providing astounding services for the deafblind people since 20 years. Sense provides a platform to every deafblind individual for living their life full and active. Deafblindness is a disability and Sense is disabling the disability.
I am happy to work with Sense India and support the cause of DEafblindness.
We are a strong team with good values
I participated in Messengers on Cycles (MOC) event organized by Sense India in June, 2017. That was the first time wherein I participated in cyclothon and it feels really great that I got a chance to participate in a charity event. I was not aware about deafblindness earlier but now I am aware of the disabilty. I felt happy seeing energetic deafblind individuals in the event. Sense India is doing great work for deafblind population of the country.
over a year ago Like many people i had never heard of a people being Deaf and blind at the same time. Sense India has helped me broaden my horizon with regards to the disability sector.
Highly transparent and ethical in its functioning Happy to be a part of sense India
Sense India is a rare non-profit organization working with the deafblind individuals in India.
The work is such that it not only has a critical mission but also manages to execute with tremendous effectiveness and efficiency. I am proud to be associated with such an organization.
Sense International India, also known as Sense India is an award winning national organisation representing a little-known disability called deafblindness which was recently recognised under the enacted Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 for the first time in the history of India. Sense India works with local, regional and national organisations to develop sustainable services for children and adults with deafblindness along with collaborating with the government at central and state levels. Its relentless work has so far transformed the lives of close to 77,500+ deafblind persons who have found a meaning to life with self-esteem and confidence.
Sense India has been working since more than 20 years & it has not only brought positive change in the lives of deafblind individuals but have also made a significant difference in the lives of parents & teachers of deafblind individuals. "Deafblindness" was not recognized as a disability earlier but due to the advocacy efforts of Sense India, today deafblindness is recognized by law and government of our country. Sense India has provided many opportunities to deafblind individuals which have made them not only self confident but independent too. It feels great to be associated with a committed non profit like Sense India
India's only national organisation working for children and adults with deafblindness along with their teachers and parents across India! Factors that set them apart:
Working for a unique disability
How many times have we been tired of our kids, who are perfectly normal, scolding them and telling them to be understandable and calm them down, in times when they don't understand stuff or get sick etc.
The guys at sense do these, but the magnitude of the whole thing changes, because the kids can't hear or see. Imagine yourself at a place where you have to explain to a child what is happening to him/her and then to make them overcome the same and to teach them to live a life. Not just children adults too loose their sight and sound and helping the adults to adjust who have become a child once again, who have to forget all that they have learned and have to learn things all again, is another task all together.
Over and above that, many of us may want to help a blind person cross the road, what we don't realize is that some of them cannot hear you, so trying to talk to them is futile, trying to make a deafblind individual explain that this is going to happen to you on the street, is another task.
So Sense working on getting the kids and individual under their wing, trying to educate them, trying to educate the public about them and to make sure the individual rights of these individuals remain intact, is by far no small act. I was stupified and had to collect myself. Their work and efforts and the efforts of the deafblind individual really minuscule things we do.
Incredible Cause and an Incredible team of people. Working for people with deafblindness in a diverse country like India is no easy task. Yet day after day, the Sense India team - including their partners and the parents and educators of children with deafblindness ensure that identified children and adults now live a fuller life. Highly transparent and ethical in its functioning, it's hard not to be inspired by the work and the people. Kudos and all the best.
The work that Sense India is doing is phenomenal. Deafblindness is a unique and complex disability. In a developing country like India, people with disabilities continue to remain invisible. But through their work, it is evident that Sense India is going above and beyond to ensure children and adults with deafblindness have access to better care, medical facilities and livelihood opportunities.
Sense International india is making an remarkable changes in the lives of deafblind person's with the huge programs from baby screening to natioanl level advocacy and expertise staff working with the unique disability and finding ways to bring them to mainstream level is really extraordinary and highly transparent and dedicated team . Proud to be associated with sense international India
Sense India is a committed NGO working with the objective to provide quality disability rehabilitation for children & adults with deafblindness. It provides equal opportunities and social integration to the deafblind population through its programmes.
The service providing by Sense International India on the field of disability rehabilitation for the Deafblind people with or without other disabilities is truly appreciable. I am truly touched with the dedication & commitment that Sense international India team has shown in transforming the life's of Deafblind person.
A unique NGO working with a unique group of individuals. Individuals who are invisible in the public domain because of their disability. People who cannot see, hear and speak. Working as a catalyst this NGO is helping thousands of deafblind children and adults to connect with their families and community.
Working with a network of partner NGOs it is ensuring deafblind people have access to support, advice and resources to lead a dignified life.
Sense India works with some of the most marginalised and invisible children of India. Deafblind children face dual disability of vision and hearing loss making their world limited to their fingertips. Sense India is the only national level NGO in India that works exclusively with these children. It provides education, rehabilitation, vocational training and employment to deafblind children and adults.
Sense International do remarkable job putting blind and deaf people in society where they deserve to be. There program across India help deaf blind to earn respect. Great job and keep it up forks.
Sense India is a unique organization working exclusively for the deafblind and multi-sensory impaired population of the country. People with deafblindness are on extremes of margins of development and are denied services and rights. However, through the Sense India work, they are receiving support services and becoming independent in their lives. I am impressed by the work commitment of the whole organization and believe they will always remain the top nonprofit organization in India.
Sense International India is an award winning quintessential Indian not for profit organization representing a niche cause which not many professionals in the disability sector happen to be aware of. Their expertise and knowledge in terms of implementing decentralized customized programs are critical to developing a roadmap for deafblind individuals in the country. The programs are designed in tandem with the impact parameters and onground challenges carefully assessing its feasibility and viability. Highly transparent and efficient when it comes fund usage including monitoring, tracking and reporting.
An organization which has been working very very hard to raise awareness on deafblindness. Extremely ethical when it comes to clarity on fund usage and brutally honest when it comes to talking about the rights of the differently abled. Powerful. Very powerful.
In a world where education system lacks inclusive education, organisation such as Sense International are working to bridge the gap. A child, who has every right to get educated irrespective of his physical disabilities is being supported by Sense. This has not only made them self confident but has also created a huge impact on their families.
Sense International India always look for the first opportunity to support the activities related to deafblind and MSI. We at sahayogini palak santha experienced the speed at which they assessed our requirement, encouraged us to set up the Centre which is now fully operational. The support is all encompassing. Their swiftness always encourage to think big and are a driving force to work for the cause in a larger measure. They are a seasoned bunch of professional at work. We are fortunate to be in the partnership
I volunteered here for 2 week and it was the most productive 2 weeks I spent this year.
Sense is a NGO where they put in their 100 percent for the deaf blinds, where they highly appreciate efforts made by people and create massive awarness about the cause. The people who work in sense are empathetic and love the work they do, And in my view this is what an ideal NGO should be like.
