Nonprofit Overview
Causes: International, International Peace & Security
Mission: To equip young people with the communication and leadership skills necessary to address the root cause of hatred, discrimination, and violent conflict. Building bridges programs create a safe space for young people to meet face to face with those they have been taught to fear. Together, they develop personal connections based on empathy and respect and the confidence to transform divisive attitudes in their communities.
Programs: The organization administered three educational programs: (1) building bridges: transform equips young women and trans* youth with the skills to transform divisions and conflict in their schools and communities; (2) building bridges: legacy provides program alumni with the opportunity to continue developing leadership skills in a cross-identity group, while also gaining professional development; and (3) building bridges: shift provides tailored workshop and training experiences for youth and adults to build skills in facilitation and team-building.
