Mission: Our mission is to spark the imaginations of kids worldwide -- especially urban and disadvantaged youth -- about the excitement of science education in an effort to help them stay in school, see hopeful alternative possibilities to the lives they are living, and create viable jobs skills. Our model is to provide critically-needed science equipment, such as microscopes, to science teachers who work with 10-14 year olds; and connect and mentor teachers and students with our worldwide network of professional scientists. We are presently connecting kids 25 countries around the world from Brazil to India to Saudi Arabia and throughout the U.S.
Results: Our work this year focused on getting more microscopy kits to more schools around the world and connecting those kids and teachers. Kids from the slums of Brazil and projects of New York City whose daily lives include drugs, prostitution and gangs are gaining a new perspective on life's opportunities and choosing school and literacy over the alternatives!
Target demographics: Low-income children between the ages of 10-14 years old worldwide.
Direct beneficiaries per year: More than 50 teachers and thousands of students.
Geographic areas served: Worldwide.
Programs: MicroGlobalScope, Terrabotic and PlanetCheckUp
