Causes: Civil Rights, Lesbian & Gay Rights, LGBTQ
Mission: Fostering pride, equality, and respect for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities locally, nationally, and globally.
Geographic areas served: San Diego
Programs: We are one of San Diego’s oldest LGBT-serving nonprofits, and are best known for our annual flagship celebration - the San Diego LGBT Pride parade and festival that brings together over 300,000 individuals from San Diego and across the country. The proceeds from the annual Pride celebration funds our own year-round programs to support the LGBT community. As the primary axis where the LGBTQ community intersects in San Diego, San Diego Pride has also developed volunteer-led supportive programs for the other 363 days of the year that focus on connecting with, empowering, and organizing the most marginalized LGBTQ populations in San Diego who live at the intersections of multiple identities. Last year alone we engaged 72,869 LGBT community members through over 30 programs and events BEYOND the pride weekend festivities including: the Youth Leadership Academy, QAPIMEDA Coalition, Latinx Coalition, She Fest, the #MeTooLGBT Conference, The Trans Day of Empowerment, Pride World Forum, Pride Youth Marching Band, Queer Youth Chorus, Pride Youth Art Show, and more.
