Causes: Environment, Land Resources Conservation
Mission: The corporation is organized and shall be operated exclusively to protect and restore sagebrush habitat in the american west to benefit native wildlife through voluntary conservation.
Programs: In 2017 the sagebrush habitat conservation fund (the fund) participated in funding the retirement of the 86,000 acre cape horn domestic sheep grazing allotment on the salmon-challis national forest in central idaho near stanley, idaho. In addition, the fund was a participant in the retirement of the herd creek allotment in the jerry peak wilderness also located on the salmon-challis national forest. The fund continues to own the 10,000 acre vya ranch in northern washoe county, nevada where no grazing has occurred since 2011. The fund continues to work toward the retirement of its 20,000 acre mosquito valley allotment located on the bureau of land management administered lands adjacent to the vya ranch. Since 2010 the fund has assisted in the retirement of over 700,000 acres of federal grazing allotments.
