Mission: Safe Haven, Inc. (SHI) has concentrated its efforts in the Murphy Elementary School District in Phoenix, a blighted urban area which is 90% Hispanic and in which 40% of the households are single parent families living below the poverty level. More recently SHI has been consulting to help the Wilson School District, in east central Phoenix, to form its own community development non-profit. Working closely with the school districts and the City, SHI works to develop leadership by facilitating neighborhood associations, block watches, etc. SHI builds new homes, repairs existing homes, raises funds for after school and summer school and other training amd parenting programs for youth and adults.
