SAFE, South Atlanta for the Environment is a community-based organization, neighborhood groups, governmental agencies, businesses and other stakeholders in Neighborhood Planning Unit-V (NPU-V). This collaboration is facilitated by the Environmental Community Action,Inc. (ECO-Action. SAFE partners pledge to share their knownledg, resources, and time, in order to bring about social and environmental justice by protecting their physical health and built environment. Our goals are to:Conduct a multimedia environmental assessment, Design Implement a leadership training institute,Establish environmental priorities, Develop an environmental risk reduction plan,Share lessons learned with other communities, Ensure the sustainability of SAFE beyond the current funding sources. The source of funding for SAFE is a grant United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) grant. We are now stepping it up to envolve our youth in the community regular clean-up to beautify where live, work, play and go to school. We have partnered with several of the recycling business in the NPU-V communities and other nonprofits as well.
