Mission: Rochester rotary makes a difference in the lives of its members and in the lives of our community and world neighbors-in-need, with special emphasis on city young people and on people of all ages with disabilities. This is done through the resources of our sunshine campus, the tuesday luncheon forums, and focused activities coordinated through our headquarters. All activities are guided by the objectives of rotary international: fellowship, community service, high ethical standards, and international understanding and goodwill.
Programs: The sunshine campus serves community members with disabilities and city young people. The 2000 campers that attend the sunshine campus program would not have the opportunity to attend other programs due to the severity of their disabilities. The sunshine campus programs focus on our campers abilities by making sure all programs are completely accessible for all campers. The rochester rotary charitable trusts, inc. Fully funds a two-week summer camping program called sunshine camp. This program serves children ages 7-21 with physical disabilities(i. E. Spina bifida, autism, cerebral palsy, etc. ) free of charge to their families. The "sunshine camp" program serves as an opportunity for our campers to enjoy a quality camping experience while providing a week long respite to the parents. To serve a greater number of people within the greater rochester community, partnerships with area agencies have been established to provide quality camping programs for their campers. The agency partners that utilize the sunshine campus include heritage christian service, muscular dystrophy association, american diabetes association, camp haccamo, camp joy and the rochester city school district. The sunshine campus serves as a resource to the entire community serving over 5,000 people annually. The sunshine campus is open from february through november. The sunshine campus is also used by seven other agencies, listed on schedule i, part ii, during the summer to provide camp experiences for individuals with disabilities. This use is subsidized by the organization through grants.
