R 1 99 is an exceptional non-profit that daily suits-up to tackle an incredibly daunting, depleting, and complicated issue through its dedication to personalized engagement with client survivors to develop their self-awareness, compassion, and accountability. R 1 99 doesn't advocate "quick fixes" or "easy solutions," as it knows there is no such thing when helping people heal from profound trauma. To the contrary, R 1 99 recognizes and respects the time, energy, and individualized focus each client needs to take ownership of their journey toward healing. R 1 99's Eden products further point this non-profit's dedication to wholesomeness and health for the entire being - including self-care for body, mind, and spirit.

She has discovered a unique therapy solution, to help ease the effects of different traumas in individuals who have experienced. them through Eden Products Her survivors learn to make natural High quality, hand-crafted herbal products for bath and body. The education that goes into making these products is far-reaching, In the process, they learn discipline of work itself, a knowledge of natural products in the environment and the satisfaction of actually selling something they assisted in producing.

Great products for a great cause! Very easy to work with and ships very fast! I love the soaps and scrubs.

I could say soooooo many wonderful things about R1:99, but please allow me to highlight just a few.

There are so many wonderful community organizations serving in the trenches of the DC Metro area and providing assistance to the most vulnerable of peoples. R1:99 has consistently provided the tools and space for community leaders (as well as caregivers) to refresh and rejuvenate from the fatigue they experience as a result of constantly pouring themselves into the lives of others. Because those constantly giving are seriously at risk of burnout, they need time to heal in order to continue their precious work. R1:99 provided Overcoming Compassion Fatigue (OCCF) seminars in order to afford leaders the critically needed tools to help them understand the why, what, how, and when they need to refresh and rejuvenate.

Many older veterans are still trying to heal from wartime PTSD. Traditional therapy often doesn’t work due to their being stuck in the flight/fight part of the brain. R1:99 provides group therapy to veterans and their spouses at Knollwood Military Retirement Home using creative arts, which is the language of the mid-brain or fear center. The therapy R1:99 provides is a kinder, gentler approach to working through traumatic symptoms and has helped many veterans heal on a deeper level. They seemingly enjoyed this art experience, stating it helped them prioritize and focus.

On a more personal note, I have supported R1:99 for more than 20 years and have volunteered within the ministry the last 15+ years. I have personally witnessed the significant impact it has had on the community, the DC Metro Area (and beyond) and, more importantly, with persons who have experienced and/or are experiencing trauma. Recommend R1:99 be given a top-rated seal for 2023.

I first became aware of Restoration 1:99 in 2013 through my work with Samaritan Women, another organization that serves trafficked women in Baltimore, MD. Candace Wheeler, founder and executive director of Restoration 1:99 is a highly professional, dedicated, compassionate and conscientious therapist. Basically, Candace IS Restoration 1:99, working as primary therapist and future-oriented thinker of everything that R1:99 is and what it stands for. R1:99 is an exemplary non-profit organization.

I am aware that during the past year Candace (and R1:99) have been deeply and negatively affected by some damaging misinformation shared on several sensationalist websites, simply due to her name, career path and misguided/limited "information."

A person with a very similar name (Candace Wheeler Montgomery) has recently been featured in Hulu ("Candy") and HBO Max ("Love & Death") projects detailing a period of time in Candy Montgomery's life related to her acquittal of murdering her best friend. Following the trial, Candy Montgomery moved from Texas to Georgia and became a child mental health counselor in Georgia.

The Candace Wheeler I know has never been married or lived or worked in Georgia, but someone stole an image of Candace from the R1:99 website, modified it and quickly, without in-depth research, placed the words "Candace Wheeler Georgia" over the modified picture and substituted this picture for images from the original Newsweek story about the real Candy Montgomery (nee Candace Wheeler) and posted the modified article on sensationalist media websites. These sites have subsequently been inaccurately linked to R1:99 and Candace Wheeler.

I hope many people read this review so they become TRULY informed of the truth that these are two VERY different individuals.

Lastly, if facts are what you need, Candace (from R1:99) was in college in Kansas at the time of the murder in Texas (1982), and has never been married or worked or been licensed as a therapist in Georgia.

My church supports R199. I’ve heard Candace speak, and have been impressed with her love for her clients and commitment to serve them with her important and much-needed skill set. I recently ordered a selection of Eden Products soaps for a friend for her birthday and the presentation was great! I’m sure my friend will love them!

I have been receiving support from Restoration 1:99 for the last three years and her sessions has been very insightful, fun and transformational. I have developed tools and resources to manage difficult and overwhelming emotions resulting from complex childhood trauma. I have learned a completely new way to live, involving self-compassion, nonviolence, meditation, prayer, and love for myself and those around me. She definitely taught us the importance of Self Care. I first learned about Restoration 1 99 about five years ago and was really moved by the type of work they do. I think their approach, of treating people through art therapy, is extremely valuable. It's a wholistic approach that allows the client to gently explore aspects of themselves that can get missed it more traditional talk therapy, but has nonetheless, substantial affects on one's mental health.

I've had the pleasure of receiving good self care and coping ideas to better myself through Restoration 1:99. For the past 2 years, I've been able to have sessions with Candace and been able to apply what I've learned to my everyday of living, and share with family and friends. It has truly been a blessing! I have been a client with Candace Wheeler for just under three months now and have already seen an incredible decrease in my anxiety and depression. In this short period of time she has helped me compile a toolbox of methods and techniques for regulating my own nervous system and managing the symptoms of CPTSD that had been plaguing me for years. Founder, CEO and Therapist Candace Wheeler is a multifaceted force to be reckoned with. In the 5 years I've had a working relationship with Candace, I've been awed by her drive to help, heal and renew those tossed about by the ravages of human trafficking, PTSD and complex trauma.
I've shared in her training Healing Conversations and been blessed to list her work as a vital resource in my book about spiritual healing after sexual violence.

For a number of years, I have been concerned that people in the United States have not recognized human sex trafficking as a significant challenge. I became aware of another non-profit that served this sub-population and through them, I came to know Candace Wheeler, Founder and Executive Director of Restoration 1 99. This organization serves the very people who are most in need of therapy and support, the survivors themselves and their families and friends, as well as the professionals who work with the survivors. What a wonderful organization. I have purchased fantastic herbal products from their Eden Herbal Products store and donated to the organization since 2014 when I first became aware of them. I support them and hope that you will consider supporting Restoration 1:99 as I do.

I've known the Founder of Restoration 1:99, Candace Wheeler, for nearly 20 years, and have supported her ministry financially ever since I met her.
