Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Environment, Pollution Abatement & Control
Mission: Recreate works with regional businesses to divert usable, but unwanted items, for use in lessons in waste reduction, and for use in creative expression. Our goal is more art, creativity and less waste.
Programs: Recreate education program: provided waste reduction and hands-on art programming to approximately 15,000 students. This program goes to schools, and the students are visited classroom by classroom.
recreate offers a reuse warehouse, where people can obtain clean usable materials for creative reuse, at cents on the dollar, recreate also offers classes, drop in art studio and other activities. Over 3,000 people visited our center last year.
rolling recreate participated in many community events in our region, to promote reduce, reuse and recycle. We offered free to the public hands -on art projects, as well as public art displays. Over 8,500 people participated in person, and thousands accessed our information online.
after school programs / summer camps - our enrichment programs focused on art and science, using materials that were diverted from our landfills. As finances allowed, we provided this program at reduced costs, and some programs for free.
