Having been involved with Scouting for over 12 years, I can honestly say that Quincy Friends of Scouting is a means of support toward participation in so many of the ancillary activities such as Scouting memberships, camp, camporees and trainings that are available to Scouting youth. By providing funds, equipment and support to the Scouting community in Quincy, MA, Quincy Friends gives where a barrier toward participation may exist. These days, where prices of food, fuel etc has risen so drastically, a family's ancillary programs may just go unattended because parents can't afford to pay for them. QFoS helps to facilitate these payments.
I remember when I was going from the pack to the troop and the charter org rep for QFOS Ray Theberge sat down and talked to my family and I about the troop and why I should join. He always said never let money be the reason you can’t go. QFOS has helped send many people to summer camp, Snowshoeing, backpacking even high adventure trips like a World Jamboree. This organization gives any scout in Quincy a resource that they can use to have amazing experiences in the outdoors.
Quincy Friends of Scouting is the BEST organization! Ray, Diane and all Assistant Scout Masters (ASMS) are awesome and beautiful people inside and out. So thankful we know them. My son completed his Eagle Scout through the help of Ray, Kevin, Mr. Leach, and all ASMs. They helped us raised our son! We are so blessed, grateful and thankful of this very family-friendly organization!!!
My experience with Quincy Friends of Scouting Inc was excellent. Ray and Diane Theberge are some of the most caring and loving individuals I know. They dedicate their entire lives to helping others, through Scouting.
I witnessed this firsthand when I first moved to Quincy, MA from Italy, where I've been a Boy Scout my entire life. Ray welcomed me as if I were his own child, and introduced me to the thriving Quincy Scouting community. Almost every single day he had an activity with the Scouts, whether it was volunteering at a Quincy event, mentoring kids to reach their merit badge goals, or simply offering his time to a Scout in need.
Words cannot express enough the level of trust I have in this organization and its members!
Quincy Friends of scouting is one of the best non-profit groups out there. I was personally involved as both a client and a volunteer for the organization for many years. I grew up with just a single mother who signed me up with scouting at 5 years old. Throughout my tenure of scouting I was given opportunities that I never even imagined I could.This organization relieved many of the financial burden that was placed on many families who were going through tough times. I was never once denied the opportunity to attend a trip or scouting activity based on not being able to pay. Today I still remain a volunteer for this amazing organization helping to give back, so, that other young men and women can have the same opportunity as I to enjoy all that scouting has to offer regardless of economical situation. I hope to continue to give back to this amazing organization for many years to come.
