I remember Daryl, Poodle Rescue CT from years ago. We adopted our first poodle from her. To say she was patient was an understatement. She worked with us to help our standard be the best possible dog. Since I have adopted other pups. Attempted to foster. Look forward to helping now that I’m retired. Also, any dog that has been taken in by Poodle Rescue goes through a series of exams, tests, grooming I don’t see that and other rescues. Poodle Rescue assures that when a pet is adopted, all information is known upfront.
January 18 , 2024. 7:43 am My family dog was hit by a car. Marlo was rushed to the vet ER in Shelton where expenses was out of immediate reach. During a traumatic experience for the dog and family . We were in desperate need of support . The Vet ER suggested Poodle Rescue of Connecticut to assist due to her injuries were pressing and needed immediate attention that could not wait. Like any parent you do whatever to save your child. The rescue want to rehome her with someone else but instead of allowing the owner to take her back. The rescue was offer the full refund of what the rescue had spent. They decline! Further we learn the vet er did not do the surgery on the dog until the next day. We wonder why that wasn’t offered to the family. Darryl and her team at the poodle rescue ct , we are asking for you to return Marlo home! She has a loving family that loves and misses her dearly. The behavior The PRCT demonstrates is Predatory!
I adopted my third rescue from Daryl and Poodle Rescue in July of 2021. Prior to that my husband and I had lost a standard and knew we wanted another. Well that poodle was a handful. He was and stayed in the terrible two's for most of his life. Standards are puppies, from my experience they stay puppies. Daryl spent a good deal of time training my husband and I on how to work through the issues we faced. A few years later my husband and I went to check out a smaller poodle. We had lost both our Standard and our toy. We knew which rescue we wanted. When we got to meet the little one, he could have cared less about either of us. He wanted to be with his puppy friends. Along comes our now 10 year old. Took one look at my husband and fell in love. I now adopted another little one. To say that it was easy, it was not. That is why you fill out an application, you give them your history, your pets history, your vet history. You explain the type of home you have, is it fenced. How would you care for the pet, how much do you feel it will cost to care for a rescue in one year. If you feel this is private, you should not be adopting. These rescues have gone through enough. They had been loved in some cases and through no fault of their own found themselves alone. Many parents are heartbroken to give up their little ones. Some are discarded, they were not loved, they have scares we can only imagine. Some show right away, some come out when you least expect it to happen. This is why the protocol exists for how to adopt. You want as a rescue to be sure you are placing that dog in the best home possible. They have gone through enough. The right home takes time. Once you get the dog, it takes months to find what will work. It's not about cost, poodles require regular grooming. Remember, while we can joke that it is more difficult to rescue a pet, the hope is that the home these pups go to is truly their forever home.
Review from Guidestar
These people are truly awful. My husband contacted them to ask about adoption and sent this..."Hello, Do you have any poodles currently available for adoption?"
Daryl didn't send a real response but instead sent pictures of the dogs like they were just for sale. Then my husband sent then this:
"Thank you. How much for the first one? He or she? Age? Specifics?"
Then "Daryl" replied with this...
"When you ask how much it’s a deal breaker for us here in rescue."
My husband's last reply before they completely ghosted him..
"That doesn't make much sense...the dog is for my disabled daughter.
How else would I know whether i can afford the dog or not prior to meeting?"
And then nothing.
I contacted them and they ignored my email.
My colleague contacted them and they ignored her email as well.
These narcissistic psychopaths are running some sort of puppy mill scam and should be shutdown immediately. They should not be allowed to care for any animal or person.
Do not believe that one fake review that they have on here. The person who earlier mentioned that this is in fact a scam was more than ACCURATE. Do not waste your time with these over zealous, retired losers. I will be making it my business to report this company to as many agencies as possible. Do NOT send them any of your information. You've been warned.
