PETA is an awesome organization. My favorite victory of theirs is when they helped save 4,000 beagles from being tortured in experiments. One of those beagles was in the Puppy Bowl even!
Those one star reviewers have never actually gotten to know PETA.
I have, I even have friends who work with them.
I've seen the inside operations.
I've been in "the belly of the beast". There is no beast, there's only kindness and compassion for all animals big and small.
Just so much love all around here, it's such a shame others can't feel the love. Only hate.
I don't block that, I allow happiness in my life like PETA does
I'll always adopt and never shop after learning about what pet stores and breeders do..
Anyone that believes there's "ethical breeders" is insane. So many healthy animals being euthanized in shelters and people still buy from breeders.
I seen one person once compare buying an animal to being pregnant saying "We buy animals instead of adopting them from shelters the same reason women prefer to get pregnant over fostering, because they don't want a child that already has mental problems".
Breeders and people who buy from them heavily disregard life, I'm not one of those meanies. That's why I'll always adopt.
I went vegan after I ordered one of PETA's starter kits and I feel so much better after transitioning.
My stomach no longer hurts all the time, I have a lot more energy, and I've finally dropped the pounds I've been wanting to lose.
I thank PETA for helping me improve my health and compassion.
PETA helped me rescue a sweet outdoor cat that was severely abused and neglected. He's now such a sweet indoor cat. They also helped cover the cost to get him neutered.
After learning from PETA about what happens to animals in zoos, I no longer support any zoo.
I really love to do photography now for reputable wildlife sanctuaries.
Keep up the great work PETA.
Dated a Norfolk Peta person. I happen to think Peta is an exceptional organization however, not all of their members are good people. The person I dated was a pathological liar, a drunk and a full blown thief. She lived with me for a period of time and at the time, I was caring for my Mom.
She told me "If your Mom were to have another stroke, you should let her die before calling an ambulance". Really??? She then gave me an ultimatum "Either your Mom goes in a nursing home or I'm leaving".
I told her she can leave. I guess she didn't care for that response because she proceeded to steal my Mom's jewelry and about $10,000. worth of other personal effects in my house. She use to steal prescription drugs from her previous employer (I still have proof). She would borrow money from me (literally thousands of dollars) then go to charity organizations claiming she couldn't pay her bills (rent, utilities) and would accept donations from them after I gave her money to pay her bills. Of course, she never paid any of the money back to me and lived in my house for a year but never made any contribution.
She also use to steal toilet paper from her employer saying they "don't pay her enough so, she has to compensate herself somehow". She claims to be a vegan but isn't. She drinks wine (1-2 bottles everynight) and use to hide the bottles around my house- definite alcoholic. The wine she drinks isn't vegan. She NEVER drinks vegan wine. She use to ask the home health aides (I had helping me care for my Mom), for money so she could go buy wine. She went to a Salvation Army dropoff location and filled her car up with donated items. When I asked where she got all the stuff, She said "it was laying in a parking lot". After a few more questions, she said the stuff was "near the Salvation Army". She ended up giving the items to her grandkids and other family members for Christmas.
When she moved in my house, she brought her Granddaughter's pet guinea pig. She NEVER ONCE took care of it. I ended up feeding it, cleaning its cage, spending time with it. I told her, she needed to care for it, it was her responsibility. She promised she would but she completely wrote the little guy off. Never fed him, no water....nothing. Her Granddaughter came over one weekend and she found her guinea pig dead in his cage, starved to death. And she's a PETA member???? I realize nobody's perfect but, this girl is a pathetic hypocrite, lying thief, freeloader. A truly sick individual and a drunk. I thought people should know about this alleged "vegan" who has a holier than thou attitude because she claims to be a vegan and love animals but then lies, steals, ISN'T a vegan and gives recommendations to let a human die before getting help, if they suffer an illness.
Talk about a low-life.
Never trust Peta.. They Destory CULTURE and kill the native animal/breeds disguising like a FRIEND all around the world. BAN PETA #banpeta
Never ever ever trust them...
I would never recommenced any PETA organization to anyone! They are the biggest hypocrites on the planet saying they are for the animals and then they are high kill when they do get animals! I don't support them and i never will
This is a top-notch, very well run organization that puts its full heart and soul into helping animals who cannot help themselves. I am not sure what motivates some like Corey Faure and EEmminger77 to spew such slanderous comments, but it only takes a little research on the internet to dispel the rumors they propagate. "No Kill" shelters sounds like a humane concept at first glance, but "No Kill" shelters actually cause suffering for the neediest animals. Judge for yourself: http://www.peta.org/features/turned-away-closer-look-kill/
It is not true that PETA routinely euthanizes animals, it is not true that they use violence or have anything to do with bombs, it is not true that they discourage the keeping of companion animals (many of their staff do so), and it is not true that they hypocritically use animal products. Their courting of celebrities and their more flamboyant publicity stunts are not my style, but I can't blame them for that if they feel that these efforts have political value. Such advertising methods certainly have a long history in our culture. My only basic disagreement with them is that they oppose the trap-neuter-return method of managing feral cats; I think it is the best available approach. As an organization I feel that they have done a great deal of good, and I can't think of any real harm they've done. I will continue to support them.
So much can be said here... but I'll keep this short. PETA is a very HIGH KILL SHELTER... they kill more than 90% of animals taken to their shelter. They support mandatory spay and neuter laws which yes, is controversial however logically thinking if the entire nation passed this legislation, then there would be an end to all domesticated pets. They also support BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION. The Support banning of Pit Bulls in particular. People should donate and support their LOCAL Shelters and Rescue Groups!!
Repeatedly across the nation, PETA has terrorized animal shelters for euthanizing sick and unwanted pets. PETA takes in these animals and euthanizes 90% of them while denying their own continuous hypocrisy.
They use violence to get their way. They actively teach people and students in seminars how to make bombs to destroy the organizations they wish to target. As crazy as it sounds, it's unfortunately happening all the time with this organization. On top of all this, their hypocrisy takes the cake. You'll often see a higher up using an animal product that they actively condone the use of.
This organization is disgusting by any standard, and you have to be a fool to become one of their loud, annoying, obsessive sheep.
While it is true that PETA can be extremist, this particular part of PETA does a lot of good.
I know people who were non-members, helping out with the animals after PETA investigated and helped to close down a business in Texas (Global Exotics), where there was horrific abuse of animals. As an animal lover, I feel very comfortable giving to this particular branch of PETA.

This is not an operating organization, so please see People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on GreatNonProfits to review PETA. In response though, as it does each year, PETA issued a news release about its annual intake, adoption, and euthanasia figures, hoping to engage the public in useful efforts to address the neglect and homelessness that are affecting companion animals across our nation. The situation for animals everywhere—not just in PETA’s “backyard”—is so serious that this year, it also released PETA's statistics in a video detailing the whole story behind PETA’s companion-animal services and other work to prevent, alleviate, and end massive animal suffering (http://investigations.PETA.org/petas-rescue-team/). PETA promotes shelter adoptions and adopts out animals too, but does advocate that companion animals are lifetime commitments not disposable items as the "pet industry" treats them. Many of these anonymous anti-PETA postings are from an industry front group; see http://www.ConsumerDeception.com Please do get the facts; see http://features.peta.org/petasaves/
