Adopted a 3 yr old apricot miniature poodle at a PetSmart event. He had been with his foster mom for about 3 months. His owner dumped him off and didn't fill out any paperwork. He was adopted once from PCH and returned. Then he lived with a foster mom for 3 months before I adopted him. I called PCH to get some background on Bennie. I asked if I could leave my phone number and ask the foster mom to call me so I could get some insights on what I'm dealing with and how to help him. There is no doubt there has been trauma in his life. He is not house broken, not leash trained, does not know how to go up or down even one step. He is afraid of people. He doesn't bite or growl. He's full of fear. He runs around in circles incessantly, whether inside or outside. I am making progress one day at a time, baby steps. I'm not ready to give up on him because he's not "perfect", but I expected PCH would at least put me in touch with his foster mom so I knew what her experience was with him. All I heard from the guy who answered the phone at PCH, was unfortuately I can't give out that information, and I won't/can't give his foster mom your phone number to get in touch with you. He told me to take him to my vet and get anxiety medication or hire a professional dog trainer. He was ZERO help, no wonder poor Bennie keeps getting returned. Their policy is that if you are happy with your dog, great. Otherwise, return him once again & we will give you a partial refund. That doesn't help poor Bennie lead a better life. Apparently, no one in his young life so far has cared enough about him to actually help him. I'm trying my best to help him.
PCH facilitated the adoption of my dog. Previous to going to the Petsmart location to meet the available dogs for adoption, communication via email and telephone was prompt and thorough. The information that I received about our dog was thorough: our vet commented on the professional information. The mission of PCH is to prepare and facilitate pets for adoption, and THEY DO AN EXCELLENT JOB!
Pet Central Helps is the most PAWSOME rescue ever. We have adopted from them, their adoption process is a very painless process. They find so many homeless animals a wonderful home, and the best part, is even if you don't have a pre-approved adoption application on file already, you can still take your new best friend home that day. We just love this rescue and highly recommend them and also support them through donations. They are a wonderful organization to support with donations. We can't recommend them enough. I would give them more and adopt more animals if we didn't have our plate full with four rescue dogs. This is how much we think of them. You could not ask for nicer, more responsive people to work with and very professional. If you need any information on an animal that they have available, I always receive a timely response which is highly uncommon, they go above and beyond. Again, absolutely a GREAT rescue. We can't thank them enough for everything that they do. The homeless animals would be at a great loss if it weren't for Pet Central Helps.

Wonderful experience in adopting, highly recommend. If you have questions, they answer you and quickly. Got to meet our adopted dog's (toy poodle) foster, which was very helpful and she was so nice. They are so easy to work with, such a pleasant experience, very thorough with vetting, records, paperwork, etc. Adopt your forever best friend from them today. They adopt out lots of homeless dogs which is so great. Absolutely love Pet Central Helps.
I love our adopted Malibu, and all went smoothly when the adoption. However, I need desperately to talk with someone about her. I have emailed several times and called several times and no return calls. I'm just in need of her medical records to be resent. I hope they see this post. We love our puppy
I adopted my puppy from PCH back in June. Susan Maxson was great and fostered Daisy before I got her. I highly recommend adopting from PCH! The application process was easy and user friendly!
We have had the honor and privilege of adopting not only one but, two sweet dogs from Pet Central Helps. We also had the opportunity to meet both of our pups fosters who took such great care of our pups from the time they were rescued to the time they were adopted. We could not be more pleased with all of the staff and volunteers at Pet Central Helps for bringing our sweet babies into our lives.
Pet Central Helps introduced me to my best furry friend, Allison (aka Allie). I had scheduled a meeting and was introduced to very warm and welcoming staff. When I held Allie in my arms the first time.. I knew she was going to be in my life for as long as she was able. I brought her home that night (even though I was only supposed to put the deposit down and finish discussing with my partner at the time...oops hehe) and she's been the best additional ever since. Pet Central Helps is more than just connecting new people to furry family members, but they also provide such extraordinary care to our community. Whether it's helping those that are struggling through these inflated times by giving them a bag of food for their furry family member or helping their "alumni" adopters by continuing to support them through fb groups dedicated to alumni or by providing free classes to alumni when their furry friend has behaviors or puppy training needs. They are truly the best around and each and every one of their staff go the extra mile to help serve those around them, often forgetting their own needs and working around the clock rain or shine through the most difficult and heart-rending scenes.
Pet Central Helps is an amazing organization that truly cares about every pet that comes through their doors. Their unwavering commitment to the well-being of animals is nothing short of remarkable. As someone who has had personal experience with this organization, I can confidently say that they are a true lifesaver for our furry friends. The team at Pet Central Helps goes above and beyond to ensure that each pet receives the love, care, and attention they so rightfully deserve. We are so thankful we were able to adopt our dog, Blue, from them!
I adopted my puppy Juniper (formerly Cupertino) from Pet Central Helps and I couldn’t have had a better experience! The adoption process was quick but thorough and I could tell that everyone involved in the organization was genuinely thrilled for Juniper to find a forever home. Her foster mom, Susan Maxson is just amazing! She told me all about Juniper’s history, sent me all of the photos she had of her from the day she took her in until the day I adopted her, and has kept in touch. She has a passion for helping animals and it shows in every interaction I have with her. I can’t say enough great things about Pet Central Helps and all involved in the organization!
Absolutely love Pet Central Helps. I have adopted two of my babies from this wonderful organization and wouldn't go anywhere else. Susan, the foster mother of both of my adopted pups is amazing. She keeps in touch after the adoption process and does such a wonderful job with her fosters! Highly recommend Pet Central Helps to anyone!

Pet Central Helps was amazing when we adopted our new little buddy. All the volunteers/staff that we encountered were super kind and patient. Our pup's foster, Susan, is absolutely incredible. She has kept in touch since the adoption, and truly cares for each of the animals that she fosters. She sent us a ton of pictures she had when our pup was younger. She sent us home with a little goody bag with some treats and of course food. I feel like if there is anything we need for him we could always count on her for help. It is very evident she wants the best for these animals. Our little guy even knew how to sit, and did great with the command "drop it" , and would come when called at a little over 12 weeks old, from being fostered by Susan. She is just fantastic. I would recommend Pet Central Helps to anyone looking for a new pet. It was an easy and enjoyable experience to adopt our boy.
I have adopted a dog Frodo and kitten Carra Pet Central is absolutely amazing there staff is so nice and helpful and friendly. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Pet Central Helps is a wonderful group! From the people who travel to get the animals, the intake/medical care team, the behind the scenes workers, to the fosters, everyone is so dedicated! They work hard to make sure the animals are cared for and get a chance to find a great home. I am proud to be able to be a part of this organization.
Pet Central has the biggest heart of any rescue I have ever seen. They never turn an animal away! Great nonprofit
PCH is amazing. So many animals saved. I have been a foster for over 5 years and love it. Have adopted 2 dogs and 3 cats.
We have been fostering for Pet Central Helps for 1.5 years and are so impressed. The commitment to the animals' welfare is outstanding. It truly is all about saving animals in need. They provide everything needed to foster successfully. Wonderful, wonderful organization.

We love PCH! We adopted our sweet Leo from PCH in March. The volunteers work tirelessly to help deserving animals find a home. They truly care about helping the animals, and I’m so thankful for them. They are always looking for more fosters and other helpers, too.
Pet Central Helps saved my grand dog Pete from a kill shelter. When they posted him as their pet of the day, I knew he was the perfect match for my daughter who was looking for her first dog. She had recently left our nest after graduating from college and starting her teaching career. She has battled anxiety since 4th grade. We had no idea how much Pete would change all of our lives. He is the life of any gathering, the ultimate snugglebug, and the absolute best anti-anxiety dog. We cannot express our gratitude to Pet Central Helps enough for bringing the perfect dog into our lives.
I have helped with PCH for several years. They are some of the most caring people you will ever meet. They do their best with every single animal who comes through their doors or the ones who have even been left between the doors. Their goal is to get animals from hard situations and find them the best homes to live the rest of their lives in. Being a foster is easy and so rewarding. They give you everything you need to take care of them until the perfect home can be found. Great Rescue! Thanks
Pet Central Helps has done amazing things in the community for the animals who need it most. The staff and volunteers welcome everyone in with open arms, and are always willing to lend a helping hand and teach others what they know. I have learned so much and I couldn’t be more thankful to volunteer and foster for such an incredible organization.
I am a foster parent to pregnant momma dogs and their litters and have literally fostered over 600 through Pet Central Helps and help in recovery every week following spay/neuter and any other necessary surgeries. The staff is incredible and there are so many volunteers we are able to save around 40 dog and cats a week!! The facility is beautiful and all animals needs are met even if it includes a huge deficit in our budget. I have fostered for other rescues prior and nothing beats the work and compassion and lives saved by the wonderful rescue!!!
A couple years ago I lost my beloved dogs to cancer. A neighbor of mine told me about PCH and how you could Foster dogs. I was blessed to receive several Foster dogs to love and was hard to give them up but PCH is such an amazing place they find places for dogs that no one else want and they get the love that they so deserve. I was also blessed to get one of the dogs I fostered as a dog to keep forever. They are truly a blessing and I'm so blessed to be part of this wonderful organization God bless them
Pet Central Helps were so kind and helpful. They connected me with my sweet George. I would be lost without him. I cannot say enough good things about him.
I am a new foster for PCH and they have been amazing to work with. The staff and volunteers are super friendly and make the process very easy. The vet staff is responsive and quickly get what is needed. The 3 dogs I have had have been super sweet.
My dad adopted a dog named Marvin from Pet Central Helps and we could not be more happy. The employee that helped us matched my dad and Marvin perfectly. I really believe they rescued each other. If you are thinking about adopting an animal, this is the best place to do it.
Pet Central Helps is awesome! We adopted our pup through Pet Central Helps and loved working with the staff there, you can tell they really care.
Between myself and my daughters family we have adopted 4 dogs. The process was painless. PCH answered all questions before during and after the adoptions in a timely manner / addressing any and all concerns - I recommend all the time.
This rescue is wonderful to adopt from. They ask thoughtful questions to help match you with a dog or cat who will fit in well with your lifestyle and household. Their adoption process is smooth and the support after adoption is really great and appreciated. It is a rescue I often refer my friends and family to, and I hope to adopt from them again in the future! They are a very well deserving rescue to support with donations as well.
I have adopted two pets from Pet Central Helps and both experiences were awesome. PCH tries to give you as much information on your pet as they can. PCH is there if you have behavioral issues or just need advice.
If a friend of mine was looking to adopt a pet, I would highly recommend Pet Central Helps.
I am not only thankful for PCH but for their founder Lisa. Lisa has taught me so much about running a rescue and how to handle all animals. I was lucky to be a foster coordinator and in that process found my furlove. Thanks to PCH and their relationship with a shelter down south, I adopted Finley at 4 weeks old. Next week he'll be 5 and is the best friend anyone could ask for.
PCH and their staff were very quick to respond and to help us find the best match for our new 4-legged family member. From the first phone call, to our interactions at the adoption event, their love of animals and finding the perfect fit for us and for Bleu was first and foremost. The adoption process was really quick and easy. The follow-up information with medical records, chip information, and more came to us via email shortly after the adoption. We're looking forward to sharing on the Facebook Alumni group with the amazing foster family that took in Bleu prior to our adoption.
I adopted our first Kitten 4 years ago, he was a little guy with a mild case of Cerebellar Hypoplasia, who turned out to be a big handsome boy. He is the most loving, smart, goofy cat I have ever had. I always said if there is such thing as a soul pet, he is it. Then, we just recently adopted our little black kitten and she got here last week. I can’t wait to see her personality as she gets older, she is so sweet now. But, in true nature of a kitten, she eats, sleeps, and runs around like crazy and plays. Both experiences have been wonderful to work with the volunteers and fosters, very thankful to everyone who works hard to keep the rescue going and find good home for these pets. They have given me two of the best kitties!
We weren't looking for a pet, but a friend was fostering a senior Maltese. As soon as I saw her, I knew she belonged with our family. She has brought so much laughter and joy to us. She is housebroken, loving, patient, and cuddly: I can't ever thank PCH enough for completing our family.
I have such a soft spot for PCH! The love and compassion their staff has for these animals is unmatched. I have fostered 3 dogs over the past year and only “failed” and kept one :) I love the in person events to get the available pups in front of potential adopters! I will continue to volunteer my time and open my home to fosters, it is so much of a “feel good” in being a small part of their journey to their furever homes ❤️ Thank you PCH for running this amazing organization!
Their love and compassion for animals is absolutely amazing. They have an efficient system and looks so effortless to those who aren’t behind the scenes. So thankful for all their hard work and commitment to our furry friends who need help
I love pet central helps and what they do for the bloomington-normal community. I’ve never met a group of people so caring and dedicated the cause. I love their energy and you can tell through their animals that the level of care the receive is outstanding.
I LOVE PET CENTRAL HELPS!!! Their staff and volunteers are incredible and I’m proud to volunteer in the shelter and be a foster to hundreds of momma dogs and their puppies!!! I have 100% always received support from the Director Lisa Kitchens and Karry Rich and Paige Sveda as well as every volunteer I’ve been blessed to be a team member with!!!! Our rescue is top notch and saves so many dogs and kittens due to be put down if we don’t step up! I’ve worked with a couple other rescues who also have good volunteers but are unable to save the number of lives as PCH nor has such an awesome building set up and support system to get dogs/cats in and vetted and adopted out quickly to continue to save animals at risk. I am proud to be a team member of this organization and am an unpaid member hoping to continue working with my friends and such angels who give so much time and love and support in caring for these sweet deserving animals! We truly can’t save them all or we would!!!! But proudly continue to rescue and attempt to save, vet them , love them all we can. Please consider joining us to continue to make a difference in thousands of lives! It takes a village
I can't say enough positive things about Pet Central Helps! The adoption experience was amazing! It is very apparent how much each individual involved loves and cares about all the animals that spend their time at Pet Central before finding their furever home!
I don’t think I could have had a more positive experience. The time, care, communication, and flexibility offered by the staff and the foster mom was exceptional. We were hesitant to add a new puppy to our busy house, but after getting to spend time with the dogs, we actually ended up adopting two siblings. They have been wonderful, energetic, amazing additions to our family. I would recommend Pet Central to anyone looking to adopt.
Excellent experience adopting our sweet Bert (german shepherd/border collie mix). PCH was super responsive, outgoing, and friendly. I had a great time talking with the volunteers and hearing stories about Bert from his foster when I picked him up, and I have found that PCH has a great Facebook page and alumni group. I would definitely adopt from them again, and I recommend them fully.
This place does an AMAZING job at matching pets to owners who will love and care for them as family members! We adopted a puppy less than 1 week after our application was approved and he has been AMAZING for our household!! Would definitely recommend this organization AND would adopt from them again in the future!
I can’t tell you how great Pet Central Helps is! From the fosters to the vets who do the spaying, they take care of everything! Plus the added bonus of getting to rescue/adopt this little bundle of Papillon/Chihuahua who we named Fern. We rescued her and she rescued us!
PCH was very easy to work with while adopting my puppy. The team was prompt in answering my questions and walking me through the process.
Pet Central Helps is amazing!!! I cannot say enough nice things about them! I adopted my dog RuPaul from them back in may after years of searching for a Chinese Crested. Ru was a special case and dog most shelters/rescues probably would not have given a chance. PCH was transparent, open and honest about his issues and their conversational style approach to the application process lead to a perfect fit.
Pet central is an amazing organization that provides the best care and training to every animal at their shelter. They make sure each animal finds the most perfect family and we were lucky to adopt our dog from here! Couldn’t recommend Pet central enough. They are truly amazing!
We adopted Jasper (Junebug) this summer and it has been fabulous! Their adoption process and communication was very clear and helpful.
PCH really came through with the adoption of my pup, Charlie!! They were very helpful & patient answering all my questions and supplied me with as much knowledge of the dog they could! I would 100% adopt from them again!
We adopted Levi (Peppercorn) 2 years ago from PCH. I can’t say enough good things about this organization. We had a great experience and staff and volunteers were very helpful.
After losing my 9 yo boxer I did not think I could have another dog. But when I saw my little Caliber my heart melted! I submitted my application and before the end of the next day PCH called me to complete my interview and had the adoption team contact me to finalize everything! I had such a wonderful experience with them that I reached out again to help my brother get a dog. He is very old fashioned & has no internet, email, or smartphone. They let me submit his application and send all the information he needs to my email. They were able to call him to do his interview. They then called me to finalize the adoption! Two days later my brother had Chucky and is very happy!
I love how Pet Central Helps is still involved after the adoption. Free training and advice for health or behavioral problems that come up several weeks later! They are so helpful and really cares about all the dogs! My adopted chihuahua had six teeth pulled; because they were so bad during her spay surgery! They do whatever they need to to make sure we have a healthy dog mentally and physically… uptodate on shots and meds!

I decided to start fostering for Pet Central Helps in March of this year. They make it so easy. They try to Match the best foster for each dog or cat. Anyway, I had a mama with 3 babies and I ending up adopting the Mama. Her name is now Foxy. She is a special needs dog because she is deaf. We love her so much.
The adoption process was phenomenal. The staff doing the adoptions are very informative and kind., especially Gina! They make you aware of any details that they know and what the foster says about them. They are available for any questions that come up.
Lisa the Executive Director and Vet Tech is unbelievable. She is on call 7/24. I don’t know how she does it.
They also have free training managed by Dr. Val from ISU, twice a week for a long as the dog needs. All shots and medical care are up-to-date when they are put up for adoption.
So whether you want to donate your time or money. You are in the right place!
Consider fostering... all food and medical care is provided for free while the animal is being fostered. The best place to foster any animal. Or Consider adopting... they are the most supportive through this process and you can connect with the foster parent or adopter by the Alumni group on FB.
My rating is Excellent.
We have adopted 2 dogs from Pet Central Helps. Both dogs came to us already spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and healthy. Their foster homes provided our dogs with such a loving start. We are so thankful to Pet Central Helps for all the rescues that they do. We are so happy that Jett and Lucy found their way to us.
Working with PCH was the best experience! The staff was kind, caring, and knowledgeable. They took the time to ensure we would be a good match with our dog and they did a great job! We can’t imagine our life now without Jasper (formerly Puck)! Thank you, PCH!!!
We applied for our puppy and had an excellent experience through the adoption process! She is one of the best things in our life ❤️
This is (GingerSnap) Now known as Bocephus!! He has been the best addition to the family! We adopted 2017 from Pet Central Helps!! And they were so Amazing!! Easy Application process!!! And you can tell they deeply care for each and every animal that comes too them!!! I would 100% adopt from them again!!!!!
We adopted Bullseye from Pet Central a year ago, and have attended their training classes some as well. Our experience with them was wonderful. We would definitely recommend!
We adopted our sweet Maggie (formerly Boo) from Pet Center Helps and had a great experience. She was well cared for by her foster momma. They had a great system, from the application to finalizing the adoption. I was especially impressed with the transfer of the medical records, as this hasn’t always been so seamless with other rescues— it was so easy and we got everything we needed. Her foster momma took such great care of her and was so helpful and informative. We are so lucky to have Maggie as part of our family. Thank you, Pet Central Helps!
In addition to adopting our sweet Silverado, our family frequently fosters animals in need. Pet Central Help saves so many pets from euthanasia every year and is always making a difference for animals in the entire region. We are so thankful for all that they do!
Provided time for me to make sure it was a good fit, by offering a foster to adopt program. They took care of medical needs during this time, including an issue regarding his blind eye, resulting in an eye removal. Also provided ongoing behavior training classes and professional consultations, at no extra cost.
I adopted a puppy during the pandemic and it was a wonderful experience! My puppy had been at a fosters house. At an appointment at their facility she was handed over to us. She was and is a happy healthy little girl. Pet Central was very professional and easy to work with their adoption system.
We adopted our Olive in June 2020. In the middle of pandemic. Pet Central was amazing to work with and took amazing care of Olive and her siblings before they all found their forever home. We will absolutely be adopting from them again when the time is right!

We adopted our fur baby on 6/27/2020. Pet Central was wonderful to work with!!! When we adopted Olive, her foster mom spent a good amount of time with us sharing what Olive liked and didn't, and her schedule. We are very thankful she spent that time with us so we could make Olive’s transition to our family as smooth as possible. Thank you Pet Central!!!!!!
I contacted PCH after my 8 year old cat lost his sister / littermate. He was a bully, and a jerk. They suggested Butters (I renamed him Jonesy) to me. I was able to meet / adopt him in less than a week. He is the sweetest cuddliest cat I've ever had and has been the perfect brother to jerk cat.
We started fostering after having to put our dog and cat down in a short time frame. Our 2nd foster had demodex and his poor skin was in rough shape when we first brought him home. We saw first hand what a little love and attention can do for a dog! We even ended up adopting him! We've continued to foster and Pet Central has been great to work with while we show dogs how great it is to be in a home while they wait for their forever home!
We adopted a pup from these folks after losing two of our elders to cancer in less than six months. Our youngest boy (bonded on those two) was healthy as heck, but depressed. We adopted Sweetheart and she was in marvelous shape, bright and healthy and oh my goodness such good eye contact! (prior experience with other rescues not nearly as positive) and has been a dream pup and companion for our boy. The process of adoption was simple (we've had the same vet for 20+ years and the same trainer for more than 15) and straightforward. So grateful they were there to take in our sweetie's mom and take care of her pups!
Pet Central helps believes in keeping pets with people, and provide an array of community resources to help make that happen. They provide an area food bank, free training for their adopted pets, and will offer low-cost medical care once the facility is open. The things this rescue accomplishes far surpasses my expectations and it will only become greater when the facility doors open!
We searched for a puppy to adopt for 3 months, with no luck. PCH had an adorable puppy that we applied for but unfortunately it was already spoken for. They communicated via email which allowed us to get in touch quickly a few weeks later when the perfect puppy became available. When we meet our puppy Jazmine, we were highly impressed. The foster had done such a great job training and caring for her. We will definitely recommend PCH!! Thank you
I was able to adopt my wonderful River from this community/business. The supervisors/managers were able to contact me when they received a specific type of dog that interested me. The handling of the whole situation was excellent, and if I had the ability I would adopt again. I couldn't be happier with the level of service and passion all these people share to make sure doggos get to a home that will love them forever. I would recommend them over any other agency in the area. Please, if you are looking for your furever friend, please strongly consider them as your go-to resource for finding the lucky pet that will be in your care.
I live in Phoenix and I flew home to pick up my little blond pup. She Is awesome. She was potty trained and knew the basic commands as well as being extremely social. She was a welcomed addition to our family and has met numerous dogs in the neighborhood and now we have daily play dates. Pet Central is amazing and their fosters keep providing loving happy homes to so many animals. Keep on doing what you are doing as your matchmaking is stupendous.
This organization really cares about the animals, volunteers and families. The process was wonderful, very easy and nice that the form could be completed online first. Thankful for hearing about Pet Central Helps and for all the foster families who make this possible.
We had been looking for a furever puppy and just didn’t find one. One day it she found us. He were not looking and went to get treats for our other girl and there she was. We had no intention to doing anything that day. We held her and my 5 yr was in love. They were able to mark her pending while we ran home to get our other dog to make sure and they were good together. And now we have our perfect family. They made everything easy and assisted with my son and other dog while i filled out all the paperwork and it was thorough. Thanks for making us happy and our family complete.
Pet Central Helps made the adoption process of getting my best friend so seamless and exciting. They truly care about all of their animals and provide the best possible care as well as any additional information a new pet owner should know. I could not thank them enough!
I had just lost my senior cat to cancer, and I was not looking for another cat...until I found the cutest little kitten at PCH. That little boy captured my heart. My vow of no more cats lasted exactly 12 days. The volunteer staff and fosters were so kind and knowledgeable. As soon as I was approached, I was able to my little boy, Harve, home. Within 6 months, I adopted again...but the greatest gift that I received was that my house felt like a HOME again!
I was ready for a new puppy and luckily found Liberty. She has been a great addition to our family. Her personality mirrored her new sister and they have been inseparable since. Thanks for completing our pack.
I had been thinking about getting my son a cat for a while, but wasn't sure yet. We decided to stop in PetSmart one morning to look around, and he came face to face with a little gray kitten. Needless to say, we came home with said kitten, Buzz, and they have been inseparable ever since. Everyone on the staff that we worked with was so incredibly kind and helpful. This was the first time I've ever adopted a pet, but i would definitely reach out to them again if I ever decide to get another. All of the animals are taken care of and loved. It shows. For anyone looking for a dog or cat. I HIGHLY recommend getting ahold of PCH.
We adopted our cat from Pet Central Helps in October of last year at Petsmart. She is a great cat, and the people at Pet Central Helps made it a great experience for us, and our 3 kids who were so excited to adopt a kitten that day!
We recently adopted our 1st pet not directly from a vet clinic from Pet Central Helps and the process was simple. This group seems to genuinely care about their rescues.
Wonderful Rescue! We got our Sasha and our Little Bit from here. Such love and caring! They both had the same foster Dawn Marie. Thank You!
We adopted a puppy in April and he is awesome. We had a great experience visiting with his foster mom and other volunteers helping us decide which puppy was right for our family. He is healthy and happy and pet central helps is a great organization.
We went into Petsmart to get dog food and came out with a dog named Bella. My daughter and Bella instantly had a connection. The volunteers let us visit with Bella, introduce our dog to her, and answered all of our questions. It was a very pleasant experience and the staff was amazing!
I started out as a foster to our adopted Dexter. He is an American Bully and couldn't be a better fit for our family. The staff at Pet Central Helps was very good about making sure that all of our needs were met. He was up to date on vaccines, neutered and semi housebroken. Lisa also made it clear that we could contact her at any time with any questions we might have for her.
Filled out the online application(as instructed to do on the website) for a particular puppy and even put down a 2nd choice, in case #1 wasn't available. Received a communication stating someone would contact me within 48 hours. I contacted the rescue at 48 hours to follow up on my app. and was hoping to set up an appt. at Pet Smart on the following day, where the puppies were going to be. I was told that they were just starting to go thru applications for this particular puppy and that she would be calling me that evening. Never received a phone call! Next day, received an email to come see the puppy at Pet Smart and possibly take it home that day. Go to Pet Smart just to find out they let someone else come in that day and adopt him. Then, this particular "volunteer", who clearly shouldn't be dealing with customers, decided to try to lie her way out of it and said she tried calling a dozen people the evening before and no one answered. Total LIE!!! My phone never rang and never got any messages. Another volunteer had the nerve to ask if we put a deposit down. You CANNOT put a deposit down if your application hasn't yet been approved. There, again, that was the point of me calling to check on my app the day prior and yes I would have put a deposit down had they allowed me to. Then, the director comes to talk to us and keeps making ridiculous excuses for this "volunteer". I was super annoyed by this point. So, basically what me and my DISAPPOINTED family learned thru all of this is that clearly it means nothing to fill out there useless application and there customer service was in the toilet. Process is completely broken and they have a terrible way of conducting business. I would not recommend this place to anyone!!! If I could rate ZERO stars, I would.
PCH has the best volunteers! They are truely caring, helpful, kind, and will do anything for the dogs & cats they rescue. It really amazes me how dedicated they are. PCH volunteers show love on a daily basis.
i adopted Yadi and Jaxson from PCH. Jaxson came to them with a crushed foot so the vet recommended the leg to be amputated. PCH took care of every thing. They are the best two dogs ever. PCH does a great job of caring for their animals.
My dealings with PCH involed them helping my employee with PCHs food bank operation. Their help allowed this person to keep their dogs instead of surrendering them.
I know several people involved with this rescue and their passion for rescue and placement of dogs is 2nd to none. Truly believe they go above and beyond.
I have fostered several dogs through Pet Central Helps and each time I have found them to be attentive, caring and to always have the pets best interest in mind. A couple of the dogs I fostered came to Pet Central Helps with health issues and each time they have been seen right away and taken care promptly. I will continue to foster through Pet Central Helps for as long as I can!
Not only did I adopt my spoiled baby Theo (top picture before PCH rescued him, bottom pictures of him in his happy new life) from PCH, but I spend a good amount of time volunteering with this organization as well. There are so many ways to be involved, and we have a lot of dedicated, hard working, and kind volunteers. For PCH, its not just about adopting out pets; its about making connections, pairing people with an animal best suited for their life style, and then keeping that pet with their family. They have great resources that they offer to families who adopt to ensure this. They prioritize the health and well being of their pets; they spay/neuter, microchip, and provide all age appropriate vaccinations and shots to their pets; and they meet all the medical needs of their animals ASAP. And on top of that, PCH does it all without facility construction being completed. All animals are in foster homes, so the great work that PCH does will be quadrupled when our awesome facility is complete. Have questions about PCH, our mission or values? Check out their Facebook page, or bisit their website at www.petcentralhelps.org
We have adopted two puppy's from pet central helps! Atlas who 10 months now and max who 4 months now. They were very friendly and helps us with information and ways to help us with our dogs. They check in with us to see how our dogs our doing. They also have groups where we can post pictures of how our dogs so they can see how they are doing. And we can also puppy's for there littler and how big there are getting. We truly appreciate pet central helps. I have and will recommend them to anyone looking for a animal! They truly care for all the animals.
We fostered Edgar before adopting him. He’s paralyzed, but PCH took him in. They never give up on the dogs, and provide excellent care. The staff is friendly, supportive, and helpful. They are a nonjudgmental, helpful community resource with progressive shelter approaches to help pets stay with their families.

I adopted my second dog after fostering and volunteering with these guys for over 6 months. Everyone who I've ever meet volunteer, Foster or even adopter wise has such a love for animals! Plus the board members are amazing some of them are my favorite people. One of my favorite sayings is going to adoption events and talking to the people who are looking into adopting and the joy they have taking home their new forever friend! It's always satisfying when an animal finally gets a home after it's been to adoption event after adoption event or it's gotten brought back for reasons not of the animals fault and they end up finding their home after being there for so long and the updates we get from the new owners on how they couldn't imagine life without them.
My experience was not so great. I found the volunteers to be unpleasant, rigid and uncaring about the dogs. They don't seem to care about the safety of their puppies. They were more interested in making money than making sure the dogs go to good homes.
We adopted Reese (formerly Della) on January 17..what a snuggly cutie pie. She has done so well with our family and Pet Central Helps was great in the entire adoption process.
That people were great and very kind and Dean the puppy we adopted is playful and took our other puppy as family quickly. We thank you very much
Stella (fka Terra) has been such a welcome member of our family. We had a Lab for 15 years that passed in the spring and it took us months to even want to find our new baby. Everyone has been so happy to have her and she has doggie friends on both sides of our fenced in yard. She is learning more every day and we are just so thankful to have found her. The person who was fostering her did an AMAZING job with potty training her also- she only had 2 accidents the first couple of days she was home and has been fine ever since.
We had a wonderful experience adopting our sweet puppy, Jack, from Pet Central Helps! Every person we talked to was kind, informative and more than willing to help. Communication was timely and efficient, and the adoption process was pain free.
I started the foster process with Pet Central with a Pocket Pity who was placed into the caring paws program. Dexter was surrendered by the previous owner after all efforts were made to keep them together. After two short weeks of fostering, I decided he was the perfect fit for our home. The foster and adoption applications were both painless. They were thorough in having the animals checked by a vet prior to being fostered. They also had a dated set prior to the adoption to have Dexter neutered. They also take the time to microchip the animals as part of the adoption service. They are always available to answer any questions.
I have fostered, adopted and volunteer for Pet Central Helps. Fostering was a wonderful experience (7 five week old puppies that were dumped), but when it came time to go to their forever homes it was bitter sweet. I love the Pet Central does a 3 week, 3 month and 3 year checkup on the adopted animals. They support pet adopters to make sure there is success. Of course we kept one of the puppies, and he is a laugh a minute always makes me smile. Volunteering with this group is fun! They have great events in the community and volunteers are positive and hard working. I’m thankful we have this kind of rescue in central IL!
I am a foster for PCH and it's been a wonderful experience. This group truly cares about helping animals. Whenever I've had a health problem with one of the dogs from kennel cough, sick stomachs, or injuries they have quickly gotten care and medication to them. Some of them are rescued from the kill shelters in poor shape and PCH provides the medicines, shampoos, etc that is needed to help get them back to feeling good. I've enjoyed every dog that has come into my home. This is a great organization and one I'm proud to be part of in some small way.
I sponsored one of this organization's dogs because of it being a puppy mill mom that was dumped in Kentucky and that it needed veterinary care. I followed up with her throughout and after she was adopted I found out this organization had adopted her to a someone who had multiple domestic abuse charges against him in the Chicago area?!?! It made me sick! Also I found out they do not do any reference checks on any of their adoption applications!!!
My Girlfriend and I went to a Petsmart 6 weeks ago to get something for our cat when Pet Central had an adoption event. The moment we saw her, we named her Stromy, we fell in love. For 6 weeks we have been extremely happy with her. She is fun, sweet and playful. She has been wonderful and Pet Central has helped out so much. Thank you so much.
Great people doing great things. Fantastic experience, you can tell they are professional and love what they do.
I recently signed up with several county and pet organizations to adopt a shelter dog after I lost my Lady dog. I found many of the contacts to be very frustrating with the adoption application process and requirements necessary to meet the standards for being considered for adoption. I felt like I was being discriminated against just because I was looking to adopt a dog. I felt like a criminal instead of greeting me as someone who wanted to save a life and give a good home to a shelter dog. I felt the exact opposite with Pet Central of Normal, IL. They had a very easy application process, and helped myself and my husband find just the most loveable wonderful dog that is a real blessing to our home and our lives. Weezie goes to the office with me and all of my staff love and adore her already. She now runs the house and the office! Thank you Pet Central for your help. Marsha
Thomas, now named Tucker, has been with us one week today. He has been a wonderful addition to our family, and we are so lucky to have him! He loves to snuggle, sleep, give kisses, and chew (gotta work those puppy teeth!). He had his first puppy check at the vet and is 10.8lbs and perfect. Even though he's only 4 months old, he's doing extremely well with potty training. Tucker has been great with teaching my 7 year old son that dogs are wonderful! Thank you, Pet Central Helps, for giving us this amazing little guy!!
We adopted miss bailey (Speckles) this past weekend and she has already been such a blessing! She's the perfect little puppy and a great addition to the family ❤ Really impressed with Pet Central Helps: they took great care of her before we got her and Lisa was super helpful in answering any/all questions I had and setting up a time to come meet and adopt her!
After the death of my long time bichon pal Lacey, I was looking for another Bichon, and preferred to adopt one in need of a home rather than buy a puppy. I went on Petfinder in search of another bichon. I was getting a bit discouraged as some of the adoption groups either didn't respond to emails, applications or calls, and others didn't bother to update when a pet had already been adopted. Then I came across Pet Central which had Snuggles & Cuddles, a bonded pair of Bichons. They were prompt in responding to my adoption request and answered questions I had. Their fees were affordable. Very high adoption fees were something I discovered at many rescue facilities; to the point I could not afford to adopt.
I talked with Lisa on Tuesday and Thursday I made a trip to meet Snuggles & Cuddles. I feel in love immediately and brought them home with me. They follow me everywhere outside and are still exploring all the smells and sights of a farm.
Both have issues with strangers, but it is pretty much as it was explained to me and will take time to get over.
I have nothing but good things to say about my Pet Central experience. Great folks to work with.
I lost my older dog last fall and had been searching for a new little girl to fill that hole in our hearts. My daughter found Shelby (aka Blondie) on Pet Central's website and it was love at first sight! She's a happy healthy little girl who loves to play with her big brother and cuddle with me. Pet Central is an ideal place to find your special new friend.
Chewy (formally Eros)
We found our little chewy here on Pet Central Helps. After we got him home we learned that he had Coccadia, Pet Central has been amazingly helpful with the expenses of his treatments. It took a few days to warm up to our sister but now we are best of friends and get to play everyday. Chewy has become a wonderful member of our family!
I found our Derby on Petfinder.com, and it turned out that Pet Central Helps was the agency who posted the listing. The application was easy to fill out and Exec. Dir. Lisa contacted us the next day. We drove up from Springfield the next evening, and picked him up at the pet store where they were adopting out several other puppies. Lisa provided us with a bag of food to help transition Derby over to his new food once we got him home. Derby is a beautiful mix, and was clearly well cared for by the volunteers at PCH. He's smart as a whip and only having him here after two days, he's nearly already housebroken! We could not be more delighted. (Our two adult dogs are not quite as happy with his arrival, however, and, under our close supervision, they're teaching Derby to be more polite with his sharp teeth - he's learning very quickly!)
We saw a picture of this cute little face on the pet central helps page and we couldn't stop looking at her. It was their first set of rescues I believe. I got in contact with Karen and it all just went from there, they were very responsive and so sweet. They wanted us to meet kona, so Lisa brought her to our house for a meet with us and our beloved kitty. Needless to say Kona has been with us ever since! They are very informative and knowledgeable of animals. Not too mention some of the biggest animal lovers ever! They truly are saving animals every day, I call them angels, cause they really are their saviors and the fur babies voices. So to pet central helps I say this-keep doing what your doing and your crew is amazing!
