I went for near 3 years to help with years of childhood abuse that was never addressed despite being in the foster care system. My 1st therapist at nearly every session would always spend 15 plus mins talking about herself and her meditation technique. Which I tried however, when I reported to her how I was do it cause I have a sitting still problem that has been on going since childhood based on reports from my mother since I lack memories from before the age of 8 and after that they are really scattered. I was focusing on my breathing, a smell, sounds, and how I felt in the moment while walking up and down my stairs outside. This was not good enough cause it wasn't her way. I requested a new new therapist when she told me I need to be my own best friend like I had been my whole life. My new therapist first question was if I made things up leaving me feeling like the child I once was. My abuser told me I was the problem in my teen years that I remember. My 3rd therapist was better and it did seem like I might be able to find the understanding I was in search for. However, recently after being taken off a medication for multiple sclerosis which at times cause walking n balance problems for me, I tried to do a appointment over the phone that was already scheduled and was denied and asked to reschedule my appointment. Which normally I would have done but I was leaving out of town to visit my grandmother who is 88 years. I informed them of this n that I would need to reschedule when I returned cause I do not drive and my ride had made changes many times before leaving so I couldn't guarantee exactly when I would be back nor could I tell how my walking was going to be when I got back. I mean I have not been on a long trip like this before. Despite explain this I received like 5 different calls about rescheduling my appointment. I am someone who struggles with not feeling heard. Ne who I didn't not find this help me in any way in fact it stressed me out. I did call when I got only to find out that I would have start all over. I am normally someone who suggests therapy however, not here. I am sure they help some however, how many do they leave feeling unheard when therapy is suppose to be a place you do feel heard and should allow an opportunity to work through your thoughts n feelings. I did not receive this from this organization. I am once again figuring it myself like when I was child cause the system is not designed to help people but exploit them for revenue with the guise of therapy when that is not what you get. Least helpful therapy I have had over the the years.

Stay clear of Peninsula Behavioral Health (PBH) if at all possible. The staff turnover is unacceptable and way out of proportion to what any community mental health organization experiences (28 children's therapists in just 48 months) are fact that have been reported to the Washington Health Care Authority. Their therapists are poorly trained and poorly supervised - persons with no relevant family and children's experience or licensure are supervising newly graduated therapists and students/intern. If you have WA Medicaid or other insurance, go elsewhere. You have the freedom to choose where you receive care - use that freedom to choose other resources. This place is a disaster, unless you want to frequently change your therapists, only do CBT or another trickster brief therapeutic model. Do not expect to have quality in-depth relational therapy here - skills training and out the door with you. Forget about family therapy - they do not offer that or have adequate staff trained n family therapy; nor do that want to treat families.

Finally, take a look at Form 990 for PBH - a public document. Take a look at the executive salaries - $200K a year for a small rural community health agency. They boast about their church and the service they are providing the community, laughing all the way to the bank, while enabling continued deterioration in the community.
