Pegasus has been professional, helpful, and encourgaging throughout my transition from the military. I recently moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area after serving for 9 years in the military. The transition has been difficult, but pegasus has helped me turn my military training and experience into a strong resume for job searching. The representative provided hours of 1-1 consultation and provided encourgaging feedback. I recommend this service to all veterans who are seeking help with their career development.
I was a SSG/E6 in the Army and have been out of work since March of last year and being in my mid fifties walking with a limp I was very discouraged with my chances finding employment. I have gone through a couple of headhunters and worked with a local employment agency but still have not had much luck. A veterans group sent me an email about the Pegasus Resume workshop in November 2011 and I decided to go.
Ms Benson sat down with me and walked through steps to help get me out of my slump and boost my morale. She also worked with me to see strengths I possess and how to present them in an interview. We built my resume so that it would get noticed in private industry and developed versions to make it fit in different careers. I was worried that being in the holiday season that the work we did would not get any interviews until after New Years. I was wrong, since the workshop I have received six more calls with four second time interviews where I am a level one candidate for different jobs.
Thanks Ms. Benson and the good work you are doing for Veterans!!

Since attending the resume building and interview skills workshop in November of 2011, I have had much success in my job hunting. Before the workshop, I applied for over 150 jobs (within 10 months) but had no luck in call backs for interviews. With over 150 applications, I only received 2 interviews, one phone and one in person. Nothing came out of those interviews, but In only 2 months, after the workshop, I've applied for about 10 jobs and have received 3 interviews already! I have no doubt that my new resume, which I learned how to write, and with the help of Liza Benson, is the absolute reason as to why I have had success in getting interviews! I know that getting interviews in todays job market is very difficult, but I also know that a fresh resume and a positive attitude helps tremendously! The workshop provided me with both and I have been very hopeful! I am waiting to hear back from the employers this week or the next and can't wait to start the New Year off with a bang! All thanks to Liza! You are wonderful. I know that she can help anyone who is feeling the same way I did. There's help out there, and Liza can provide you with the tools you'll need to succeed!
I attended a workshop for resume and interview skill building. Liza is very accommodating, professional, and knowledgeable. She helped me with my confidence level and brainstorming on better ways to write my resume. I believe that her experience as a consultant and corporate interviewer has prepared her to teach this workshop to a high degree. It is obvious that she truly cares about veterans and their families. I will definitely be back next month to learn more! Thank you!!
I am spouse of a soldier who relocated to Texas about 10 months ago, but I have been unemployed for over a year now. I have applied for over 150 jobs, but have been unsuccessful in getting interviews. My confidence level has gone down and it has made it difficult mentally to apply for jobs knowing I probably wouldn't get a call back anyway. My resume has not changed since college and I had no idea as to what resumes look like these days. Ms. Benson showed me what a current resume should look like, as well as brushed up on my interviewing skills. She gave me the much needed support to boost my confidence. Just sitting there and listening to the valuable information she was sharing lifted my spirits and made me start working on my new resume as soon as I got home. Her generosity and compassion for veterans and their families is truly godsend. She is a blessing and her work needs to continue to help others like me. I have never met anyone who is willing to go above and beyond to help out a stranger, such as myself, but it is so GREATLY APPRECIATED!
As a donor, I can tell you the dollars I send to Pegasus are incredibly well used. Pegasus has used thier money wisely. All staff are volunteer, there is no overhead because it is covered by The Pegasus Group - a Dallas based consulting firm. Every dollar goes DIRECTLY to programs for military officers and their families, who then pass the training on throughout their commands. Pegasus respects the military culture and inherently knows change from within is always lasting.
My brother was not himself after coming back from Iraq. We didn't know what was going on with him. He went to the required PTSD treatment on the base only because he had to. We found out about Pegasus on the web and he signed up for one of their seminars. It made a real difference. We saw impovement in him in a few weeks because he finally went to a doctor that he chose and they worked out a treatment plan together.
Pegasus really helped me after I returned from tours in Iraq/Afghanistan. I could hardly think straight, much less try to work through the system. Pegasus helped me with a stategy on some of the basics of getting help, where to find doctors, and setting up some parameters for me to look for when choosing a doctor. The best part was none of this ever went into my jacket. Pegasus seminars are invaluable and every officer should have an opportunity take one.
Pegasus is great! They are really a staff of nice people. The Veterans are treated with such respect as are the volunteers. My schedule doen't allow me too much time to volunteer, but they always make me feel special with whatever I have time to give. It's an all volunteer staff and they rock!
I am a colleague of the the Executive Director and can speak to her personal commitment to the Pegasus Foundation and to helping Military men and women.
Pegasus referred a client to me needing help with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This Veteran had to wait several months to be seen through the system and "fell through the cracks." I was delighted to take this client on and help until they found a doctor at the VA. This is a much needed non-profit in two areas the public doesn't want to hear about: Post-Traumatic Stress and Domestic Violence.
I wanted to donate to an organization that worked in the area of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. These Veterans need help when they come home. I wanted to help but I don't have the professional degrees, and I don't have the guts to hear what Veterans went through. This way I know I can help them get the help they need with the mental health professionals that can help.
As a member of the Board of Directors, I can say that I am very pleased with the way Pegasus handles their charitable contributions. The Books are available at any time for individuals to view. Also, the staff is an all Volunteer staff, so you know your donation goes directly to meet the needs of our Veterans. The IRS said to Pegasus over the phone "We are doing a great job" concerning compliance.
I took Pegasus' course on "Post Traumatic Stress from an Officer's Perspecitve" and all I can say is Where was this information 4 years ago? The course instructor had PTSD personally and described EXACTLY what I was going through. The course covered a lot of material I didn't know, like how to get what you need from the medical profession from an insider's perspective. The course taught how to get professional help without everything going in your jacket. There is a middle ground where you can get help without looking weak.
I took Pegasus' seminar on Domestic Violence. The information they gave was very "hands on" information I could take home and begin using immediately. It was not just a bunch of statistics on Power Point. The Executive Director is an incredible speaker and had us role play several situations so we would get comfortable with the skills we needed to start changing our domestic violence problems. This nonprofit does really valuable work using their donations very efficiently. That's why I give to Pegasus!
I was really having trouble with nightmares, jumping at everything, drinking too much. All the volunteers and the Executive Director were great. They helped me understand why my mind and body were acting like it was. I thought I was going crazy. They helped me get a plan on which doctors to see and what to do if I freaked out at work so I could stay employed. Without Pegasus I probably would have been fired about 4 times. Pegasus's course should really be taught on all military bases. I wish I had had the information they gave me years ago. They are nice people, an all volunteer staff, and went the extra mile for me.
The Pegasus Military Family Foundation, Inc. provides such a needed service for our returning Veterans that have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Pegasus is committed to helping these Veterans readjust back into society in a confidential way.
One of my buddies was back from deployment and in a lot of pain with jaw and neck injuries. At the time, the VA had to put him on a two month wait to see a doctor because they were so backed up. Pegasus really went to bat for my friend. They found him a physician to treat him until his appointment at the VA opened up. Pegasus also got him an appointment with a pain management specialist to treat his pain, which was the worst part of the whole thing. All the people at Pegasus were really nice and cared about us as Veterans.
