Peace of mind dog rescue is a good organization I came in contact with them when I lost my cat 5 years ago and then he was found and I found out he had cancer of the neck I asked peace of mind for help they paid his vet bill I am very pleased with the service that's why I'm giving them five out of five stars they're a good organization and I am composing a picture if I can find one of my cat that is passed that they helped
I became acquainted with POMDR a few years ago when I considered fostering a dog after seeing their booth at one of the events in Carmel. While my heart was into fostering, my 12 year old feisty schnauzer was not thrilled. Thus …I waited for a couple of years and fostered, and then adopted my two beautiful furry souls.
Somewhere in my journey of being an occasional volunteer, foster mom and now a proud mistress of two POMDRs dogs…and a business owner myself, I decided this organization was so well run by Carie, Monica, the board members and volunteers that I wanted to help in a more meaningful way.
After doing much financial research into POMDR, I concluded that this organization is working with the local community and providing such an invaluable service that can only grow and become a vital part of the community it serves. Carie and her group run a lean and mean (fiscally speaking) organization and do a tremendous service medically for the dogs in their care and finding them homes.
To that end, I decided to become a donor (we’re somewhat full up with dogs here) and what better way to serve this organization than to donate money to run their organization. Carie and Peace of Mind Dog Rescue are the role model for not only helping senior dogs living out their lives in a loving and caring environment but helping the community’s senior citizens keep their beloved companions, and when they physically can no longer care for their friends, to give them the ultimate gift of knowing their dearly – loved pets will be well cared for forever.
I would not hesitate to support Peace of Mind Dog Rescue financially or in any other way.
When my daughter (now 12) first learned about Peace of Mind Dog Rescue a few years ago, she immediately thought about her own grandmother's aging dog and what would happen to him if he had to suddenly leave his home. She was so moved by this organization's mission that she decided to ask for donations to POMDR in place of birthday presents from friends and family. She has continued this tradition each year, as well as dedicated proceeds from lemonade stands and garage sales to POMDR. We feel honored to support a program that has helped so many older pets and their owners. It really does give others "peace of mind" to know that their furry family members are in good hands if something ever happens to them. We have seen first-hand that POMDR is extremely well-run by caring and dedicated volunteers, so we know our donations are going to a very worthwhile cause.

OMG!! I can't say enough about Carie and Peace of Mind Dog Rescue.
The tireless work that she does to find loving homes and foster homes for these guys left behind from abandonment or the guardian has died or a lost soul on the streets is absolutely amazing!
I highly recommend Peace of Mind Dog Rescue!
5 stars!!

I just started volunteering with POMDR a couple of months ago and am so very glad I made that choice!! Told the woman at my Vet's office that I was wanting to do some volunteering with an organization that worked with mostly senior dogs and she highly recommended them. I am now fostering my second dog and it is the best feeling knowing that I am helping save these precious furry friends from a shelter or worse ( my current foster had an appointment to be euthanized ) What a joy to know there are organizations out there that specialize in the care and rescue of senior pups......the service they provide is outstanding! Though a newcomer to the group I forsee a long and happy future with them as these older dogs give so much more to me than I even realized they could. I have 2 dogs of my own and they are really enjoying this too!:):) I know when it comes my time to leave this earth knowing that there is a place like POMDR is a life changer......what a relief to know!!
peace of mind is the perfect name as this program has given me peace of mind. I have had the best experience. If I was a good writer I would write all the great things they do, I will say peace of mind never has turned me away they will always find a way to save lives and help people in need and I love how they do home checks and get updates not just get them adopted and forget about them plus all those senior dogs and cats get a chance. I am so grateful and will do what I can to help in anyway I can to continue with peace of mind saving lives.

I have been associated with POMDR for several years. I have been amazed with all they do for our little (and not so little) furry friends. The board members are very dedicated and sincere about the care of these animals. There is also a large group of volunteers who donate time, money and love to these cuties.

For several years now I have been living in Monterey County and have taken in many strays in my neighborhood. Depending on where I found them, I brought them to the city shelter or to SPCA. I have always wanted to do more for the animals in this area. Last year I decided to start fostering for POMDR. Not only have I met many great people that are involved at POMDR, I have met others in the community with invaluable resources that will help me in the future ! I am on my 3rd foster pup right now and have been so happy with this organization. In addition to all they do for the animals in this area, they have helped me personally when I found a dog in my town who was matted with dreadlocks. He was a mess ! POMDR took him in, got him seen at the vet, into the right foster home and on to a happy life ! I have no idea of his past but I know what his future holds, and that is to have a home and be loved thanks to Carie Broecker and all the volunteers at POMDR.

I am such a supporter of POMDR and believer in the service they provide that I am a volunteer, foster parent, and client served. More on the organization below. First my story....
Since acquiring my first fur-children as an adult I would lie awake nights worrying what would happen to my beloved children if something were to happen to me. Moreover, I didn't even know what options were available for me to merely leave instruction as to my wishes for their continued care. This was a consistent worry for me until I heard of Peace of Mind Dog Rescue. When I did hear about them, I thought, 'What an incredibly NEEDED service!!'. To those of us who view our pets as our children this is a service of immeasurable value.
As an animal lover of all types, although I owned mostly cats while I rented, I wanted to volunteer with a worth-while organization. My friend had been a foster parent through Peace of Mind so when we bought a home with plenty of room and our beloved lab was diagnosed with an inoperable cancer I decided to foster a dog from Peace of Mind to help a senior pup in need and to selfishly help cushion the blow when our sweet angel passed away. We ended up providing a home for a formerly homeless 15 year old Great Pyrenees Golden mix named Trooper.
Trooper was blind, deaf and arthritic. Because of his age and impairments we were told that he would just sleep and lie around all day, which was true for the first couple days. After that Troop got a beauty treatment, started hydro and laser therapy, had two healthy and routine meals a day plus delicious snacks, a soft bed, stable home and unconditional love. This gave Trooper a new lease on life. Before long he was trotting alongside of us with a big smile on his face and followed us everywhere. Trooper brought tremendous love, joy and happiness to each and every day. His big happy smile, generous and powerful nose nudges and his uncanny ability to navigate around any obstacle and find us wherever we were (even several hundreds of yards away) by smell alone embedded Trooper more deeply into our hearts. We (and everyone who met Trooper) must have remarked at what a good boy he was a thousand times in the 420 days we were blessed with his presence. And he was the very best. We thought we were doing Trooper a favor by taking him the last year of his life when in reality every day we spent with Trooper was a gift from God.
Since Trooper we've continued to foster dogs through Peace of Mind Dog Rescue, often serving as a hospice home, providing love and care for their last months on this earth. We end up falling in love with each and every dog. As hard as it is to lose them, we are comforted that they lived their lives to the end in a home and in the heart of people who loved them and because of Peace of Mind Dog Rescue they didn't spend their last days in a shelter or have their lives cut short because of their age.
The organization is run by a group of very smart and caring professional and/or retired women and an army of volunteers who care about animals and the welfare of the often forgotten senior canine demographic. They provide whatever we, as volunteers and foster parents need, in the way of medical support, supplies, advice, even doggie care if we go on vacation. The opinions, concerns and needs of the foster parents are heard and decisions to important issues are discussed with the board of directors whose primary concern is for the welfare of the animal. Their events are plentiful and well organized. They are good neighbors and respected stewards of the community.
Peace of Mind Dog Rescue so gracefully provides the security and literally peace of mind to know that the most important thing in your life is as valuable to them as they are to you. To know your beloved fur child will be so sweetly cared for by expedient and caring volunteers and whisked into loving homes until they are adopted into a forever home, is a comfort beyond what words can express.

It has been my pleasure to volunteer with this wonderful organization as a foster parent to some wonderful dogs. The staff are always supportive and responsive, the care the organization provides for the foster dogs and foster parents is incredible. The organization provides a safe haven for seniors...both dogs and humans alike. It has been a joy to see these dogs placed in loving forever homes in which they can live out the rest of their lives.
My newly adopted dog is asleep on my bed snoring softly. He is now happy and secure thanks to Peace of Mind Dog a Rescue. As someone who worked for child welfare for twenty five years, I have seen a lot of nonprofits.Never before have I seen one that is this effective, positive, open and honest. With only two paid staff they manage 350 volunteers, who are supported, appreciated and provided ongoing communication.Dogs are rescued from uncaring situations as well as from folks who become ill or who have passed away. They are given foster care, medical care, and advocacy to find new forever homes. The director and her "social worker " are smart, hard working and kind.I intend to volunteer lifelong.

When the founders first started POMDR back in October 2009 and I learned about their cause and mission, I knew I had to be a part of them! I live over 40 miles away but it so worth volunteering. The group is hard working, organized, polite and driven. Working with them on fundraisers is poetry in motion; everything has been thought of, planned for, and we always have fun. Recently I have been calling on our adopters to ensure that all is well and to see if we can help in any way. The responses have been heart soaring! I guess I cannot say enough good about this rescue. I volunteer a lot with different types of organizations and find this is the best!

Peace of Mind is an outstanding dog rescue organization staffed by an army of very dedicated volunteers. As a client who adopted a senior dog in November, I can say first hand they perform very thorough due diligence to guage the potential adoptee's level of interest and dedication in becoming a forever pet owner, as well as ensuring the suitability of the owner's home and environment. They actively advocate on behalf of senior dogs and other dogs left behind who otherwise would fall through the cracks! They perform wonderful work through the dedication of volunteers and sponsors.

we started volunteering with Peace of Mind Dog Rescue in 2012--> we are absolutely BONKERS about this group (the leadership and co-volunteers) because they are SO ORGANIZED but with huge heart & great results (> 400 adoptions since 2009). emails are sent out stating a need (pickup, dog walk, transport to vet) & we joke about it being like Jeopardy TV show, you have to hit the button fast to get the job, volunteers respond so rapidly to ANY expressed need. we try to go to all the fundraisers, take pups to some Saturday adoption events, walk dogs, transport dogs....good cause, FUN ORGANIZED LEADERSHIP & fun volunteers!

POMDR is my latest venture in volunteering for a NPO & has been by far the best experience I've had. My husband and I enjoy helping foster animals, but have found most NPO's completely fail in supporting their volunteers. POMDR gave us the perfect parring, offering us exactly what we needed to help.
We enjoy fostering, and were very happy to have supplies provided, as needed for the dogs in our care. Calls/emails are answered promptly, and the other staff are always pleasant to deal with. I feel like part of a special team, who's input and assistance is valued and appreciated. I am allowed to do what I do best and have never been forced to take on more than I can handle or left feeling completely alone.
The entire team has made our choice to work with Peace of Mind, one we wake up and look forward to each day! Whether we need something as simple as blankets or toys or something as complicated as transportation or emergency vet care, POMDR makes sure we are covered! I would highly recommend volunteering for this amazing rescue. Not only are the dogs worth it, but you will really feel like you're part of a team and family.

I can't thank POMDR enough for the help they gave a friend of mine. One of my Meals On Wheels client's dog stopped eating. My client was heartbroken and depressed because he didn't have the money to take her to see a vet. I contacted POMDR for him and within two days she was being seen by a vet. The speed with which his request was approved was amazing. Even though the diagnosis for his dog isn't what we'd hope for, he will be able to spend quality time with his beloved dog.
POMDR was so efficient and compassionate. I have nothing but praise for the work they do and the comfort they gave my friend.

My nephew died unexpectedly in 2013 leaving behind two older dogs with no provision for them. His elderly mother was unable to keep the dogs and the small Texas community where he lived had very few animal rescue organizations or financial resources. Valiantly we tried to find homes and/or shelters for them. They were either nonexistent or full. It came down to the last day and we had lost hope. Fortunately the dogs were taken by their vet until homes could be found. As animal lovers the experience for all of us was traumatic.
I joined Peace of Mind Dog Rescue as a result of my experience. When I read their mission statement about finding forever homes for older dogs whose people for whatever reason, financial, death, medical, relocation, could not keep them I knew this was an organization that provided a much needed service. So many of the older dogs have difficulty finding forever homes because of their age and medical conditions yet they have so many great years left and are just as loving and special as younger dogs. Peace of Mind makes sure they have all the medical care they need and foster homes until they can be adopted. This is done through our fund raisers and donors and our generous community of dog lovers and vets and local business who support our goal.
I have never been more proud to be a part of an organization. I cannot tell you how much effort everyone provides to make sure our dogs are safe and loved.
I truly urge anyone who is thinking about donating to an animal rescue group to consider Peace of Mind

This is a caring, compassionate organization of people who truly love dogs. They are especially good about helping older dogs. Their actions include accepting dogs of the homeless who are not capable of caring for their pet. When I made a pet trust for my aging Beagle, I searched all over for a reliable group to act as Administrator. Peace of Mind Dog Rescue stood above all other organizations for this purpose. I can rest easy knowing that my pet will be in good hands should something happen to me. I have great admiration for these people who unselfishly devote their lives to dogs.
