In spite of the tremendous number of layoff in the coal mining industry, this small group of less than 20 volunteers managed to send to rescue last year alone 1289 cats and dogs. They do not charge a fee to 501C3 groups. All monies are from donations and fundraising. Only money given to volunteers is for reimbursement of travel expenses. Because of their persistence for three years, they were able to convince the county to construct a modern pound in 2016. The old pound had no windows, heating, or cooling. The new one is state of the art complete with individual runs and drainage for cleaning.
I am a long distance volunteer with this ultra small group. In spite of the many obstacles in their way they have managed to send over 7000 animals to qualified rescues since May 2013.
The majority of the group work full time. One of the volunteers travels from Man WV to Morgantown WV at least once a week (hundreds of miles). All the animals come with health certificates. Many injured and wounded receive vet care or boarding. Be sure to check out Lucky the Button puppy on his own facebook page.
