Mission: MISSION The Old Colony YMCA is a charitable, non-profit Association committed to the development of strong spirit, mind, and body, guided by Judeo-Christian principles, to enrich the quality of life for everyone in our communities. BELIEF STATEMENT We believe that our Mission is to assist all people to develop to their fullest potential and to respond to ever-changing community needs with a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Programs: The Old Colony YMCA's programs include health and wellness, youth development, sports, aquatics, child care, mentoring, job training and leadership development, camp, and residential youth and family programs. The Old Colony Y serves over 103,000 people annually, with more than 70% of them under the age of seventeen. Our 30,000 members visited our facilities over 540,000 times over the course of the year. The Old Colony Y has become the region's largest provider of child care, providing child care and enrichment programs for 2,000 children each day at 41 sites across Southeastern Massachusetts, thus making the Old Colony Y the largest child care provider in Southeastern Massachusetts. Approximately 30% of the 6,800 children who attended camp and summer programs received scholarships from our Annual Strong Kids Campaign. In addition, as a result of the Strong Kids Campaign, over 4,000 families and children were able to participate in healthy YMCA activities including: 1,598 families who received membership assistance; 399 children participating in activities such as swim lessons and sports instruction; 533 children attending child care; 1,267 children having a great summer at camp or at one of our summer fun clubs.
