Mission: Ohio river foundation is dedicated to protecting and improving the water quality and ecology of the ohio river and all waters in its 11-state watershed. Orf works towards these goals through environmental education and conservation activities that serve to inspire environmental stewardship for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens.
Programs: Through its river explorer and mussels in the classroom programs, thousands of students in ohio, indiana and kentucky were junior field scientists for the day experiencing hands-on stem learning in classrooms, community rivers, creeks and streams. The youth conservation team program completed more than 10 habitat conservation projects on public lands, providing a much needed boost to public land owners manpower and training the next generation of environmental stewards. The restoration program was active in removing the owingsville slate creek dam and creating the great miami river conservation fund. Ohio river foundation also led the creation of a 22-county cooperative invasive species management area in sw ohio, se indiana, and northern kentucky.
