Mission: The North Carolina Association of Free Clinics, formed in 1997, is a private, nonprofit, 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization that conducts advocacy, research, resource development, public relations, training and technical assistance on behalf of its 70 member free clinics and the people they serve.NC''s free clinics provide free health care services to more than 100,000 uninsured or underinsured patients. These community-based, volunteer-driven organizations recruit over 8,000 health care professionals, and community volunteers who donated over 200,000 hours of free care.
Programs: Every year the NCAFC sponsors an annual conference that provides the opportunity for administrative and clinical staff, board members, and volunteers from community free clinics to network, learn and collaborate in strengthening the provision of health care to the uninsured in North Carolina. Details about the upcoming conference are available at http://www.ncfreeclinics.org For the many communities interested in serving the needs of their uninsured neighbors, the association also sponsors a "how to" seminar on starting a free clinic, and on Medication Assistance Programs. In addition, a yearly Executive Directors' Retreat is held to give clinic administrators additional opportunities for networking and training.
