We have lived in our home for 37 years and thought that it would be a good idea to have a professional home inspection to check for any potential problem(s) we might not be able to identify.
I cannot say enough good about our experience. The inspection was very thorough, noting all problems, but not alarming us. It was clear to us what was in the category of “best to do it now” and what was “look into this further when you can”. There were tons and tons of photos with ample, easy to understand descriptions.
The truth is, it can be awkward having a total stranger go through your home, but Justin was just so pleasant and knowledgeable that it honestly felt like a trusted and experienced friend checking things out for you. Also, while we let him do his thing, he didn’t mind a question or two along the way. In 37 years of owning our home, I think this might have been our most pleasant service call. Tom from nonprofit home inspections gave great inspection on my property for warranty coverage. It is easy to schedule using their system and coordinates all my request in advance. Also, we have communicated my wishlists in inspections easily when he visited. Most of all, I am really happy with Tom for his expert to focus on details, for example, slating on top of columns, no-staining finish on cutted lumber in exterior, which may cause water damage, and so on. His reports are clear with photos and guidance on how to address issues. I can communicate all issues with warranty service team using the clear reports. I am really happy with Tom.
Tom from Non-profit home inspection performed inspection on my new house. As a first time home buyer, Tom explained to me in detailed the entire procedure of inspection and made me comfortable to ask him questions and point of anything that I noticed (though anything I noticed was already marked by him in his report). He did an extremely comprehensively and thorough inspection and pointed out all the small issues with the house including thermal imagery so detect any issues not visible through naked eyes. Cody did very GOOD job, he is very professional, check everything very detail and provide nice report and video, seller forgot to open gas service, Cody came back to re-inspect the water heater, fireplace, furnace and stove, and he told us he will not charge us since it's seller's issue, really appreciate his hard work.
Russ adjusted his schedule to accommodate our emergency inspection. He was communicative before and after the inspection. His inspection was thorough. His summary following the inspection was very informative and balanced (ie. the house is generally in good structural condition but these are the areas of concern...) so the Buyer did not feel that everything was wrong with the house. Tom Walther did an inspection for us of a condo we were considering buying in Lake Oswego. He provided a very thorough and understandable report. While many of the items were not so serious as to cause us to considering declining to buy the condo, they provide a very helpful list of things to be aware of during ongoing maintenance of the unit. We appreciated his taking a good bit of time in a video conference to go over the report, which gave us a good sense of the significance of the various items and ideas about remedies.

What I really like about non-profit is that their website has profiles of all inspectors and their experience. We hired Tom Walther for our warranty inspection. Before the inspection, he answered all my questions, COVID-related and otherwise, over the phone and email. Overall, Tom did a great job finding minute issues which could have been easily overlooked. He found 2 issues which were missed by our previous inspector. He was also responsive to questions I had after I went through the report. We were very happy with his work and highly recommend him.

nonprofithomeinspections Tom W. inspected my home and wrote a report with pictures 94 pg. long in total. It includes all listed in state requirements. Many will get repaired or replaced before occupancy. He explained it in very detail with extra explanations such as cartoons or images. I strongly recommend this company and Tom W.. Sewer scopes and FLIR thermal imaging help understand insulation and sewer problems.
We were in the process of purchasing an old home, and Tom performed our home inspection. Scheduling was straightforward, with the option of advancing the inspection date if there was a cancellation. He was on time, professional, and adhered to zero-exposure guidelines during COVID. His report was exceptionally detailed, and the observations were supported with both pictures and embedded video. Tom was thorough and provided us with context for each item (e.g regular wear and tear, aggressive usage, age of appliance/utility in the home etc.). A lot of importance was paid to highlight the severity of the observation (e.g. cosmetic, structural, potential water damage, safety etc.). The reports were available for download as well. We highly recommend them if you are buying an pre-owned home, because their report can allow you to identify improper maintenance habits of the previous residents.
I'm a Realtor who previously worked for the Portland Rescue Mission, and when I first started in the business I had no idea what I should be expecting from a home inspection beyond my own previous experience buying my first home.

I have had very mixed experiences in the past with home inspections, often finding that inspectors noted minor, fairly irrelevant details, but missed significant problems (like dry rot or a major plumbing issue!). So I was astonished at the level of detail and the tremendous amount of information that came out of Reggie's inspection and is documented in the report he provided. He took more time than I expected and I think he went over the entire house (attic to crawl space, as well as the exterior) with a fine tooth comb. I not only know the major things that need to be done immediately, but a wide variety of smaller deferred maintenance items that I will want to take care of. Because of COVID precautions, we were not able to walk through with him, but he spent a long time talking with us afterwards, and the full report was available later the same day. I had a few followup questions afterwards, so I called. Reggie got back to me very quickly and told me what I needed to know. I would recommend his service to anyone.
