I founded a volunteer caregiving organization in New Jersey; NVCN support has been invaluable to this organization. So much so, that I joined the governing board of NVCN.
NVCN is the best clearinghouse and advocate organization that I have found for volunteer driven programs.
The local Inter-generational Volunteer Caregiving Organization, Mutual Adoption Pact, helps my students make a difference in the lives of seniors. The relationships that have been developed leave a lasting impact.
“I believe that one of the major challenges facing long-term agencies is being complacent and thinking there is nothing to learn from others and that no further growth is needed. NVCN opens you to new ideas, new ways of doing things and gives you that little nudge to strive to do better.”
NVCN is the one voice that unites hundreds of volunteer caregiving organizations throughout the country!

As a member of the NVCN Board of Directors and Executive Director for one of the original pilot programs, it is a privilege and an honor to be a part of this national movement. We are so fortunate to work in this arena of social service where the value system is grounded in volunteerism and free services to people in need. In particular, the focus on the senior population is one that deserves our respect and attention. Thank you, NVCN, for continuing to champion our local efforts and bring attention to a vulnerable population that is so often compartmentalized and ignored. Your continuing support does not go unnoticed! ~Tammy Glenn, executive director, CAREGIVERS: Volunteers Assisting the Elderly, Ventura County, California
National Volunteer Caregiving Network is the guiding light for smaller autonomous member programs throughout the nation that provide supportive services to elders still living independently. NVCN unleashes the power of volunteers in service to elders and the value is inestimable. I first learned about the local program where I am when I was taking care of my own mother who had Parkinson's Disease. I signed her up for a friendly visitor. A wonderful lady came and they became great friends. It made a huge difference in the quality of her life. Much later on when I saw that an executive director was needed I applied for the job. Working for Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers of Greater New Haven (CT) and our affiliation with National Volunteer Caregiving Network has only increased my admiration for what can be accomplished through the power of mobilizing volunteers.
NVCN is a national non profit which supports 130 local volunteer member programs. These programs provide volunteer aid to seniors and disabled in their home, for those who cannot afford to pay for caregivers but do not qualify for government assistance. NVCN, with its heritage from the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation which funded the Faith in Action initiative from 1983 on, is the only organization carrying on the work started by that foundation. NVCN member programs are independently funded by contributions, deliver economic, social and human value by helping seniors remain in their own home.
NVCN is a great national organization that provides support and guidance to new and existing volunteer organizations throughout the US. Board members of NVCN have great depth of experience in volunteer work and provide strong expertise to member organizations. Many individual lives are touched in a very meaningful way as a result of the efforts made by NVCN and its member organizations.
The National Volunteer Caregiving Network provides networking, training, and other valuable support for volunteer programs nationwide. As a program supervisor, I have benefited from NVCN resources and our program is more effective because of it.
The Network provides resources which are helpful for Interfaith Caregivers and Faith in Action programs across the country. By sharing best practices, the Network encourage local programs to coordinate volunteer services for seniors and disabled. Rides, visits, chores and other services are offered at no cost.
Our program serves rural Polk County WI. As Program Director, I benefit from participating in the Network's national listserv to exchange ideas and questions.
The National Volunteer Caregiving Network supports our mission of helping people to maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life. By working together, we help people age in place!
The NVCN has been dedicated to serving the needs of others with volunteer services throughout the country for 30 years. The local program in our community began in 2004 and has grown to be a vital part of the county's senior services. Not only do the people we serve benefit but our volunteers have also shared how the experience has positively impacted their lives as well! The NVCN continues to support the local sites through websites, webinars, national conferences and a program coordinators' blog just to name a few!
This national charity has and continues to have exponential impact on virtually every community in this country. Starting 30 years ago, NVCN emboldened and enabled countless faith and other communities to start local programs to provide direct services to elders and others with disabilities by harnessing the power of volunteers. The value of this can not be quantified. Today is sets the standards and best practices. and provides the links to essential resources such as software and insurance. It also creates a national conversation between providers that is helpful to those operating NVCN affiliated programs
Our organization has participated in NVCN activities and have worked with them to establish new volunteer programs in unserved areas. They are wonderful partners in efforts to expand services to seniors. Our Board has received valuable training from their Executive Director and we consult regularly about needs in the area.
