Mission: The corporation is organized exclusively for scientific, charitable, or educational purposes which will enhance, promote, and stimulate science and the research and development of transportation-related technology, including but not limited to the following: a) to promote and facilitate research and development of transportation- related science and technology by and among governmental entities and private industries; b) to solicit, collect, receive, accumulate, administer and distribute funds and property in such manner as to further such scientific, educational and charitable purposes; and c) to do all things incidental to, or desirable in connection with these purposes, and to have, enjoy, and exercise the rights, powers, and privileges which are now or which may be hereafter conferred upon nonprofit corporations organized under the tennessee nonprofit corporation act.
Programs: The center has received contracts during this reporting period with the research and innovative technology administration branch of the us department of transportation, the us department of energy and a commercial company to provide transportation technology research, development, analysis and demonstration projects.
