Mission: To establish and maintain shelter and related services for victims of domestic and dating violence.
Programs: The national domestic violence hotline is the only 24/7 national help resource with capability of connecting victims of domestic violence to more than 4,500 resources across the united states, guam, puerto rico, and the us virgin islands. Because every call is unique and each victim has different needs and challenges, the hotlines frontline staff (advocates) are highly trained to provide individualized support, understand each victims unique situation, help them identify options for next steps and directly connect them to immediate sources of help in closest proximity. We can connect with callers in more than 200 different languages. Loveisrespect, the hotlines project for teens and young adults, offers specialized services through prevention and intervention. In addition to the availability of a cutting edge, interactive website and a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week helpline designed to meet the specific needs of teens, we are also growing the next generation of anti-violence advocates. Loveisrespect mobilizes parents, educators, peers and victims to proactively raise awareness on healthy dating behaviors and how to identify unhealthy and abusive patterns. Through trainings, toolkits and curriculum, we are growing a community of educators and advocates to promote healthy relationships and prevent future patterns of abuse.
