Randy Moore, War Wizard Monster Truck, visited my son's school and spoke to about 800 8th graders. He explained to them that you don't have to do drug's to lead a fun and exciting lifestyle! He brought his monster truck, let the kids climb all over it, started it up and really got their attention. His message was so powerful that the kids still talk about it and last week during the 8th grade award assembly the school bragged about Randy's visit and reminded the 8th graders of his message! As a single parent of a middle school and elementary school boys, the last thing I say to them when I drop them off at school in the morning is that I love them and to make good choices. I find it to be a tremendous help to know that my message is being reiterated in my absence.
I have worked with this organization during a school event and both the administration and children enjoyed it. This experience was very rewarding.
I became aware of this program when my nephew showed me a handout he received. I then did some more research on the program and learned about it's rich history and the role it plays in helping keep kids off of drugs. I think it is a wonderful program and deserves what ever support it need to continue with the Race Against Drugs Mission Statement.
Race Against Drugs provides children, nationwide the opportunity to live a drug free life. I am proud to have served the community by distributing materials in hopes that at least one child will make the life altering decision to remain drug free. During the time spent at this event, I heard many individuals share their past experiences and I am thankful for organizations like Race Against Drugs that provide an outlet by which such a strong message can be distributed to those in need.
The RAD Racing Team is a program of NCPRS (http://www.ncprs.org) I have had the honor of volunteering at many RAD events across the country for 15 years. RAD is a unique program that works with motorsports enthusiasts to connect with young people and leave a positive impression through the association of behaving as a responsible team member, drug free. RAD has been fueling a drug free future for 20 years. I am happy to be a part of it and I have seen firsthand the difference it has made in the lives of children!
