Mission: The mission of n. A. M. I. -memphis is to improve the quality of life for persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and for their families/care givers, mental health providers, police officers, and the general public through education,support, research and advocacy.
Programs: N. A. M. I. -memphis education class. Taught whm (with hope in mind) classes for parents of mentally ill children. Taught bridges (building recovery of individuals dreams and goals through education and support). Taught presentations in our own voices. Printed and distributed educational materials about mental illness, medications, mental treatment, and advocacy for the mentally ill.
n. A. M. I. -memphis help line handled calls from mentally ill individuals, family members, treatment and other service providers, n. A. M. I. Affiliates in other areas of the country including teneessee. Provided information, provided advocacy on behalf of the person calling to resolve their problems or concerns.
promote cit ( crisis intervention teams) program and goals, and provided training to new law enforcement officers in the cit program. The cit program consists of specialized training for law enforcement officers who are selected by their departments for working with mentally ill individuals in the community.
grant for paying for individual's dental repairs with participating dentists at reduced rates.
