Nathaniel Donaldson was my nephew. When he passed on His dad started this foundation in his name. Nate was a real strong boy, and i know in my heart having this foundation will help other kids.Keep up the good work Terry, Nate is real proud of you.
The Nathaniel Brock Donaldson Foundation was set in place by my uncle so that no child would ever go through what cousin and my family had to endure. My uncle's purpose is to simply make people smile. Nate smiled all the time and I know he would like to see other kids who share his illness to smile as well. If anyone knows how to put a smile on a child's face who is going through this tragedy it's Carol and Terry. They've had an up close and personal experience with all of this.
My name is Carol Donaldson and I'm the mother of Nathaniel in which this organization is named for. What my husband is trying to establish with this organization is such an inspiration in memory of our son. Hospital stays for young children can be difficult for the child and their families. To be able to put a smile on a child's face during their treatment of childhood cancer would be such a joy.
Carol and Terry Donaldson started this foundation following the loss of their beloved son. It is their great wish to provide support and comfort to other families who are experiencing the serious illness of a child. Their desire to lend support to other families in such a practical and helpful way tells you a lot about them - their strength and their compassion. Based on their experiences caring for their son during his treatments, Carol and Terry have a deep understanding of what families need and how to show care and support during difficult times. These are people of action and people with a stong desire to help others - I have no doubts that they will meet their goal to help other families. This is a foundation worthy of support.
As a parent of a child who has undergone treatments for illness, I understand all too well the need for support during those difficult times. Many times it is not what is given , but how it is presented that means the difference to both the child and their families. The Nathaniel Brock Donaldson Foundation stands to make an positive impact on both the lives of children and their families as well as contribute to the overall sense of camaradie in the community. This is a group that truly cares about the welfare of children and wants to make a difference.
No words can heal the loss of a child. I know, we lost our first grandchild. But this doesn't compare to Carol & Terry's loss because they had Nate for 13 years and he was a very special young man. He had a personality that bubbled and made you forget his illness. He charished his family and left them with wonderful memories that they will have forever. They had support from family & co workers but sometimes there are needs that can't be met. I think what Terry has done for other is a blessing to others who may need support. Awareness is the key. Very proud to be part of your quest and I hope to join your next 5K. Love to both Carol & Terry and thank you for giving us the oppurtunity to know Nate.
I am a parent of a child who suffered from Myocarditis and we spent many months at UVA Medical Center back in 2005. Even though my sons testimony of miraculous healing is being shared to all we come into contact with, the support given during that time in thought, word or deed meant alot to us. This is why I support the mission of the Nathaniel Brock Donaldson Foundation. They are adding a beacon of light into the lives of families who desperately need support at such a challenging time. Their efforts in providing care packages that are individually designed for the interest of each child helps enable the process of healing. My son still values the teddybear given to him by one of the Physicians at UVA because it reminds him of triumph over adversity. If you are reading this review, please take a moment to donate to this Foundation so that they can successfully complete their mission of putting a smile on the face of a child.
As someone who very nearly lost his child, I'm keenly aware of how precious the type of support the Nathaniel Brock Donaldson foundation provides truly is. Any ray of light is a lifeline to be clung to; just knowing that you aren't alone means everything. Blessings to you.
Foundation is just getting started plans and programs would greatly help and contribute to the cure for cancer and families support.
The Nathaniel Brock Donaldson Foundation is truly a vision inspired from a parent's love for their child and the journey they shared through an illness. As a parent, I know no limits to what I would do for my children. Terry and Carol are no different because they are honoring their son's memory and their own personal experience to help others. I know in working with Carol that this foundation will be an endeavor of healing, sharing and dedication. Many will be blessed from the efforts of the Donaldsons.
