What a great school this has been for my children! Not only are the learning reading, writing, and arithmetic, but they are also developing their collaborative social skills in ways more direct than I've seen in any other school setting. Mountain Song Community School is successfully finding its footing as it moves from a start-up school to an emerging one.
After being a special education teacher in the public schools for many years, I found a dream school! My children started during the first year and although one child needed a different environment, both children had a wonderful experience. Our youngest has continued at MSCS and is thriving. She's bright and has a little ADHD so the kinesthetic approach and differentiation within the classroom has been perfect for her. If you are looking for a warm, respectful, child-centered, holistic school, this is the place to be!
My oldest daughter had been at this school since it opened. She is now is 6th grade and has had an amazing adventure here so far. She is truly enjoying her time in school now. I love that the topics are presented in such a way that really appeals to her artistic side. This school has given her the boost she needed to love learning. Coming to Mountain Song Community School has made such a positive impression on her that we felt like this is the perfect place for our now kindergartener. Both kids come home excited to tell us about their day and all that they are learning about. As a parent, I couldn't ask for a better local opportunity for my kids.
This school is a beautiful institution that nurtures my child in a holistic way. With agriculture and cooking classes, instruction in music and art and academics that meet children in the developmental stage they are in, my son loves going to school. I also love that MSCS is a hub of community and that it feels like a big family.
Inspired by Waldorf methods, Mountain Song Community School (MSCS) is changing the landscape of education in Colorado Springs, Colorado by offering a holistic education (k-8th) by engaging the children's hands, HEART and head in their educational journey. My daughter loves going to school where she is honored for all of her capacities and is encouraged to grow in emerging capacities. Through storytelling, art, agricultural & cooking arts and social consciousness, MSCS goes beyond the basics of traditional education and fosters a community of lifelong learners who will contribute positively to our world. I feel blessed to be a part of the MSCS community!
