Programs: Perinatal hiv enhanced case management, with crucial support from the illinois department of public health, provided services to approx 93women in 2017. Pacpi's services are designed to provide a high level of support to women living with hiv who are newly diagnosed, hiv positive and pregnant or recently delivered women navigating the complex healthcare system that does not easily address the intricate medical and healthcare needs of hiv positive women and their families. The services also address the co-morbid conditions that complicate childbearing including substance abuse, mental illness, homelessness, community and domestic violence, and other sexually transmitted infections. Chart abstractions of cases of perinatal hiv transmission, as well as missed opportunities which are reanalyzed and reviewed confidentially and anonymously by a community group to identify areas for systems improvement. In 2017, pacpi provided chart abstractions for 5 fimr, 95 pher, 1 cs case and 12 cases of maternal mortality/violence, as well as maternal interviews for the cases reviewed. The funds are used for operating costs, interview stipends, case analysis for presentation and support for community meetings.

the 24/7 hotline project received 220 calls in 2017 with an increase noted in the number of women who were rapid tested in 2017, and a continuing increase in the number of false positive rapid hiv tests. The hotline received reports of 79 of the 112 known hiv-positive pregnant women delivering in the state of illinois. These calls reflect both the reports of positive rapid hiv tests and calls requiring assistance linking known positive patients to care. Hiv seroconversions during pregnancy, while rare, continue to occur in illinois. In 2017, the hotline helped identify and coordinate support for four cases of hiv seroconversion in infants.

directly observed therapy was provided to three pregnant women and three newborns in 2017. Eleven women and two support people attended prenatal classes offered in 2017.
