Momentum Tutoring

My 17-year-old daughter, Grace, was inspired and encouraged through Momentum Tutoring Youth Entreprenuer Fair as part of "Discover Your Community" Santee this March, 2025. Terri and the judges' feedback was invaluable for her self-confidence and future career and business plans. We definitely need more amazing programs like Momentum Tutoring for our young people and teens!!

Momentum Tutoring has been a fantastic choice for my two daughters, the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, and making sure each child feels valued and loved. They go above and beyond to create a nurturing environment that supports both emotional and educational development.

More than just tutoring. I’ve heard about momentum for years but never had it on my radar because I only thought they just did tutoring.

This past year my daughter joined the youth biz club there and I’ve since learned about all the other classes and events they offer. It’s been a fantastic experience so far and my daughter is thriving and has learned more than I ever thought. She’s attended other workshops and classes that they put on. She’s made friends there and it’s such a welcoming and family oriented atmosphere.

We couldn't be happier with our experience at Momentum Tutoring! Our son, who is going into second grade, absolutely loved the summer workshops. They were both fun and incredibly helpful in preparing him for the upcoming school year. Such a fun place to work and learn!!! :D I’ve served as a certified teacher/tutor with Momentum for about 3 years. I like that students are matched with tutors who are confident, capable, & enjoy the subjects+grade levels we are working with. We also have tons of resources available to us to help meet students’ needs. Our kids have been a part of their kids biz club, and attending several workshops through Momentum. Terri have be a great supporter to all young entrepreneurs! She always come up with new workshops and club activities. We are so glad to be part of them!

We LOVE momentum!! Not only is my daughters tutor Rita the BEST, and she has helped her with her math skills so much, momentum has also helped my daughter grow her bracelet business and learn how to be a successful small business owner. They offer scholarships and free programs, and I have only great things to say about them! They are affordable and really care about the kids that attend there.

Momentum Tutoring has been great for my daughter. It's a nonprofit organization that only exists to help kids and encourage them in their learning. Terri genuinely cares about the kids and is very generous with her time. My daughter has developed an entrepreneurial spirit as a result of the work of Terri and her friendly staff. They put on great events that give the kids a chance at tremendous experiences. She is very creative and innovative with the programs that have been designed for the kids. My daughter has been attending the different work shops held by momentum and has enjoyed everyone of them! She has just recently joined the Biz Club and is beyond excited to become an entrepreneur! The team at momentum has help build her confidence!

Thanks to Terri I get the opportunity to volunteer and help the community. I got invited to GTS and the experience has been inspiring and has made me a better person. Along the way I get to meet new people, and they all have big dreams. With the help and encouragement from Momentum tutoring, children get strengthened to follow what they want to do, and even start their own businesses. Without leadership I dont think I would ever see myself the way I do now, a better person. After helping out in my community I realize that you have to believe in yourself, you should oversee those little problems and look bigger. My two daughters recently attended the science spring break camp at Momentum. Both girls had a blast! Each day featured a different theme (e.g., chemistry, geology) and included tons of hands-on and creative projects to keep them engaged and learning. I hadn't initially signed up my girls for all of the available days of camp, but they requested to keep coming and we added more days! Momentum creates a fun, caring, supportive environment for learning and building a sense of self-efficacy. We plan to continue with weekly tutoring and look forward to additional offerings in the summer.

Momentum recently partnered with Recess with Rover to bring service dogs in training to our k-8 school site once weekly for several months. Even though their last visit was about a month ago, I still have students sharing their experiences with me about how much they enjoyed having dogs on campus! I was lucky enough to observe Recess with Rover several times during the length of their program with us, and each time I was so impressed by not only the volunteers and their dogs, but by the impact these experiences had on students. We know how invaluable having a pet can be on social emotional well-being and I found that these visits, while brief, had a tremendous positive impact on students. It was incredible to see how thoughtful and engaged students were with the dogs and their handlers, and I feel that the school as a whole really benefitted from this experience. I would recommend this program to any district that is able to receive this programming, and I hope that Recess with Rover comes back to our campus next year!

Terri's enthusiasm and positive energy are contagious! As a Recess with Rover participant with my Future Service Dog, Rainy III, I appreciate how organized the time with each small group of children is structured. I get to meet each student, introduce him/her to Rainy, share about what a Service Dog does, demonstrate Rainy's skills, answer questions, and, of course, the favorite: petting! Overall, it is a positive experience for all!

I was invited, by Terri at Momentum tutoring, to share my experiences as a business owner with a group of aspiring young entrepreneurs. It was a wonderful experience to be involved in this visionary program and to witness the impact on the kids. Students shared an expanded view of what was possible for them, uncovering new ideas and imagining possibilities for the future while being guided by local community leaders. We had the amazing experience to work with Terry and the Recess with Rover staff! What an experience for our students! Students were eager to earn time with the pups, worked hard, we saw remarkable dedication to their studies, and an improvement in behavior. Students were excited at the chance to work with other students on campus as well as work with trained dogs in a formal setting. One of the biggest benefits of the Recess with Rover program with our students was the overall positive effect it had on our students' social and emotional health. We had the wonderful opportunity to have the program Recess with Rover visit our school. Teachers and staff were able to select students to visit with dogs during the school day. The canines were able to lift and brighten my students' spirits. I noticed my kiddos coming back with big smiles, a since of confidence, and an overall feeling of peace. Thank you for the uplifting time!

Momentum tutoring has provided valuable support to students and staff in our community through a variety of high-quality programs. They reached out to our campus at Rio Seco School to bring emotional support dogs to our campus as part of the Recess with Rover program. We found that students were highly motivated to attend and participation provided a noticeable boost to morale with students and staff alike. Our school had enthusiastic participants from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I would recommend this program across any grade level (and for the staff as well). The positive change will be immediate and obvious.

Momentum brought Recess with Rover to Chet F Harritt and our students could not have been more excited! These service dogs gave our students a sense of peace. Students came back from their time with Rover with big smiles and stories to tell their classmates and families. For some students, this was just what they needed and turned their entire day, even week around! Our students learned about service dogs and all of the support that they can provide, they were able to learn signs to command the dogs, and could not wait to show off what they learned. Each dog had an informational card, and the students wanted to collect them all! Momentum tutoring is amazing. I would first like to start by saying how great the tutors and staff are. They are so friendly and accommodating for all of my children. Also, they have a fun parties for the children during holidays and my children absolutely love these events.

Momentum Tutoring has been providing a weekly after-school science enrichment program for our students this year. The teachers are highly-regarded, and this time is a favorite of our students. The staff members are flexible, prepared and positive. I can't thank them enough for these services!

Momentum's new science enrichment program features a child-centered, hands-on science curriculum that allows students to construct their own knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Using everyday objects, students explore science concepts in a fun environment. Students learn the basics of the scientific method, how to think scientifically, and how to set up and create their own experiments. Momentum's leaders are responsive to the participants needs, scaffolding the learning experience for a wide variety of learners.
The smiles, the critical thinking, and the "wows" of the students are testimony of this powerful program!

Momentum's new science enrichment program or "Science Club" is fantastic! Momentum Leaders encourage students to explore phenomena and think like scientists. Students engage weekly in hands-on, inquiry based science lessons that allow the students to explore science concepts and inspire them to think critically and work collaboratively. In addition, it also offers older students leadership opportunities as "Science Ambassadors" as they take initiative, facilitate team work, and develop communication skills. The science enrichment program is a great experience for kids of all ages!

My daughter participates in science enrichment with Momentum Tutoring. The program is awesome and she has so much fun. She always tells me about the experiments that she gets to do and gets so excited when it is her day to go. Thank you for making science so fun for my daughter!!!

Our school is working with Terri and her staff at Momentum on a grant funded Leadership Club that is exposing select middle school students to understanding and enhancing their gifts, talents and strengths. Terri brings great energy, enthusiasm and truly cares for our students as the program introduces them to Inspirational speakers from the community and challenges them to share the lessons they have learned with their classmates as leaders. Love Momentum! My son was able to participate in the GTS Leadership program offered after school. The kids and guest speakers discussed so many great topics and brain stormed ideas on how to make a positive impact in the world.

My son has been coming here off and on at Momentum since the third grade and he is now headed to 8th grade this year! Each year we utilize this program and It really helps my son have better grades! I was honored with the opportunity to be a part of Momentum Tutoring this Summer during their Catalyst Camp. As a tutor, I was able to first hand see the growth each and every child experienced over the 3-6 week period in all aspects of education, from math to team skills. Momentum has filled the gap that social distancing and the pandemic created. I don’t know where we would be without momentum. I couldn't be happier with the tutoring that my grandson has been receiving from Ivy. She is wonderful! My grandson has Ivy as a tutor 5 days a week in a virtual environment. He is only 5 so I wasn't sure how effective these virtual sessions would be. However, Ivy is well equipped and knows how to keep my grandson on track and when to give him quick breaks to "get the wiggles out". His progress in school has improved dramatically. I would highly recommend Ivy!!

Momentum has been a huge part of my families education for the past 7 years. Three of my children have had the blessing of Momentum’s support during their school years.
Especially my youngest child who deals with some severe learning disabilities. When Terri recognized he was behind at the end of his third grade year, she immediately developed an individualized program to help him get caught up and at the reading and writing level he needed to be at.
For his entire fourth and fifth grade year she taught him in a homeschool environment and got him ready for junior high. By sixth grade, because of Terri, my son was ready to go back with his classmates and teachers.
Once Covid hit and our children were thrown into social distance learning, Terri again immediately rose to the challenge of making sure my son would have the support he needed to succeed and complete his eight grade year.
Now with our children still in social distance learning, she is still a huge part of making sure my son stays on track and again is successful for his first year of high school.
Terri and her team at Momentum have played such an instrumental part of my children’s education. I can’t thank her enough! For the last seven years, whatever educational challenge my family has faced, Terri has helped us through it all with great success.

Momentum has been a life saver!
We found Momentum my daughters freshman year, previously trying after school tutoring and friends helping, being unsuccessful. Already behind, frustrated, and overwhelmed with honors and AP classes - our tutor was able to bring her math grade up from failing, to a "B" as well as keep her on track with her other classes.

Momentum not only has the knowledge and resources to help with all my daughters difficult classes, it relieves stress and gives us piece of mind!!

She now feels confident in her classes knowing she not only has her teacher, but a reliable resource to help and answer questions every week. I can't say enough great things about Terri and Momentum tutoring they are fantastic. My son has been going to momentum for about 2 years now. He struggles with reading and writing. Momentum has been amazing in boosting his confidence and skills. Our oldest son has benefited greatly from all momentum’s services. Their staff has contributed greatly to his academic achievements, he is slowly cover coming his learning challenges. He could not be where he is without this extra support.

We did the online summer program and Danielle’s Spanish class was phenomenal. My son loved it and he dislikes (no hate in this house) reading!!! Go figure.

Our family has only had wonderful experiences with Momentum Tutoring. Dimo has been helping my granddaughter 1:1 for a couple of years now with math and reading. She has maintained straight A's in elementary school and is now off to middle school. Paige has told me she would not have been able to do it without Dimo! My granddaughter is on a swim team and needs a flexible tutoring schedule. Momentum is always willing to accommodate us. The prices are very reasonable. We highly recommend Momentum Tutoring

My family has relied on Terrie and her team to fill in the gaps in our son's schooling since he was in middle school! In the 7th grade he was struggling with algebra - a friend referred us to Momentum and with the help of one of Terrie's great tutors, Noah, Dalton was able to understand his assignments, improve his skills, and succeed in the class. Most recently with the COVID -19 pandemic and schools unexpectedly closing Terrie and her team were there to support us. I was very impressed on how quickly they transitioned to online learning and had tutors availalbe to students. I was able to have Dalton participate twice a week between the time his high school closed on March 13th, until he started classes on April 20th. With being able to work with Momentum he was able to continue learning and moving forward - he is a freshman in an integrated II honors class - we were extremely happy with the support he received!! My son has been struggling in school since kindergarten. We have tried private and public. We have even held him back a year in first grade. He is now in 5th grade and testing really really low. So we called Momentum tutoring for help. After they read his IEP. We came up with a game plan. He has now been working with Mrs. Jessica since October. (We took December and some of January off). Issiac has jumped grade levels in his reading. With school closed he has been working 3 days a week with Mrs. Jessica. So instead of falling future behind with being out of school. We are taking this time to close the gap!!!! He loves her and really enjoys his time.
If you are thinking about tutoring here I would recommend it 100%. Worth every penny!!!

My daughter is in 3rd grade and has been going to Momentum for reading help for over a year. Her teacher, Jessica, makes the lessons fun and engaging. Now with the schools closed, her online tutoring help has been amazing! I am a middle school teacher myself but I feel so fortunate that my daughter is able to get quality, grade level instruction during this time. I highly recommend Momentum tutoring.

After finding out my son was falling behind in school I was desperate to find help. That is when I found Momentum tutoring. My son has been going there for a couple years now and has shown so much improvement in school. We started at first going to the main location which worked great at the time but now he is in so many more activities in the evening, that we have decided to have him do the on campus tutoring. It has turned out so convenient, he is able to go right after class and meet his tutor. He enjoys his tutor and loves going. I enjoy it as well because I have one less place to take him to.

My daughter had a difficult time in school and activities due to the fact that she was behind in reading level. I’m less than 7 months she went from a level A to a level D and has gained confidence in her abilities. Momentum has made learning to read fun and keeps my daughter interested. I can’t thank them enough. My daughter loves going to her tutoring sessions. I often have to force her to leave!

My grandson was really struggling in math. I called Momentum and talked to Terri. After talking to her we felt it would be a good fit for him. Now he gets A’s in math, but also gets A’s and B’s in all his subjects. Not only does he get good grades, but his self confidence is out the window.

I am a graduate student with the University of San Diego, MA in Nonprofit Leadership and Management program. Recently, our graduate school team worked with Momentum Tutoring on a project. Our team researched Momentum for the quality of leadership, commitment to the mission, and financial health prior to our first meeting. We selected Momentum Tutoring for their high quality. I met with Terri (Founder/Executive Director) during business hours and saw first-hand the quality of services and personalization the tutors provide to the students. As a nonprofit professional and as a parent of college students, I highly recommend Momentum Tutoring to provide additional educational support for students of all ages.

Where do I begin? I remember coming into the Santee Public Library to work on my reading and writing skills with Terri Bohzor, the proud founder of Momentum Tutoring. Before then I hated reading, but Terri changed my mind after our first couple sessions. She actively sought books of interest that appealed to me when I was a kid. From reading the Berenstain Bears to National Geographic books on marine animals (Jellyfish I remember mostly), I grew to love reading and learning. From then on, Momentum helped me with my math homework ranging across simple multiplication problems to algebra. I stopped going to Momentum around my freshman year in high school because my confidence in school improved. I returned my senior year in high school and became a tutor because I wanted to give back to the center that supported me all those years. Working there surprised me because I realized I still had lessons to learn. Time management, compassion, discipline, and mentoring -- these were lessons I had yet to master. Momentum was a big part of my life as a former student and tutor, but it continues to be a part of my life today. To Momentum, I thank you for all the progress I have made, and, as your name suggests, I will continue to keep my own academic momentum going.

Momentum saved my daughters grade and my sanity. My Daughter forgot to let her Dad and I know that she had a biography report due in 1 days. Now she knew about the report for 2 weeks, but we found out about it as usual last minute. So instead of freaking out this time, I contacted Momentum. It was our first visit, and Jordan the Tutoring Angel we were assigned, helped my daughter focus and complete the entire the report. Normally the night before a report is due would have consisted of frustration, anger and bickering, with me basically doing the report for her.
Not this time! My daughter came home happy and proud and I wasn’t stuck staying up all night doing the report for her. Whats really great is my daughter learned how to do it and now feels more confident, plus she just loves her new friend Jordan. I can’t recommend them enough, they are amazing.

Momentum has been the answer to all our prayers. My son is in the 5th grade and has been struggling since day 1. We got him an IEP and having been working hard to help him in every way possible. I finally got tired of him calling himself a failure and felt so defeated and I was feeling like I was failing him as a mother. The school told me about momentum and got in contact with terri she met my son and that is all she wrote. My son in the last 2 months he has been with nolan his tutor 4 days a week. He was getting 1 out of 4s on his test or 2s if he was lucky but he has been getting better he came in with a 3 out of 4 on his math test today. 1st try didnt have to go back to fix his wrong answer to help his score. Junior absolutely loves going to tutoring and is actually sad when he cant go on Friday. He told me it's his favorite place to learn. Today is the 1st day that I haven't worried about his future

Momentum Tutoring has been an answer to our prayers.

Our son was in 2nd grade and had fallen behind in reading and writing. Homework had become a nightly struggle and he was worried about going to school each day. We knew he needed something else and that’s when we found Momentum Tutoring.

After the first interview we knew this was the place for us. The enrollment prcess was quick and easy and he was able to start right away. As of his first day with Momentum, his homework was done completely and neatly but most importantly he had enjoyed it.

Our son attended the summer program and he continued to work on his reading and writing. Their program was creative with special care to learning and creative aspects. And our favorite part was how excited he was every day to go to Momentum.

Our son has now started 3rd grade and has so much more confidence and his love of learning has been restored.

I am a credentialed teacher who was recently hired at Momentum. I have been substitute teaching which is okay, but I knew something was missing. When I got hired at Momentum, I rediscovered my love for teaching. I create lessons and am an active part of students' education. It is encouraging to see their growth and hear the words "you make learning fun." I am very thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in the community by making learning a positive experience for students. Working at Momentum has also allowed me to work with parents and help relieve the stress of helping their child be successful in school. Momentum is the greatest!!! My grandson was struggling in math. His teacher suggested I call them. After talking to Terri, we felt this would be a good fit for him. We learned about Momentum from a friend. Our son went to camp there this summer and I was a little worried because he's one of those people that doesn't really like homework/school. I can't say enough great things about Terri and Momentum tutoring they are fantastic. My 9 yr old son has pretty severe social anxiety and has a hard time with new people and places which makes some situations difficult, but everyone at momentum has gone above and beyond to help him feel comfortable. I started the tutoring camp this summer having to practically drag him to camp and now as the summer comes to an end he walks in no problem and leaves camp feeling proud of himself as everyone calls out bye as he leaves. I want to thank Momentum and Ms. Marianne for all the help they have given my daughter Sienna over the last 3 years. Her confidence level has greatly improved along with her mathematic skills. The student/tutor bond is amazing. Momentum provides such a positive experience that goes far beyond just academics.

We are a Neurofeedback clinic in Lakeside that works with a great deal of children with ADHD. We have noticed that some of our clients have been accessing services from Momentum. Our clients and their parents have reported to us that this organization is wonderful. They feel that their children are being supported and that Momentum really cares about their education and learning. They have also said that their children's grades have improved, they feel more successful with learning, and they are now taking school more seriously. My son has been a student at Momentum Tutoring for 2 years and his Dad and I couldn't be more happy with his progress. He was a whole year behind due to a non-productive Kindergarten year at a Montessori school. His tutor at Momentum was instrumental in getting him caught up to his grade level and he is now reading above grade level. Besides the academic tutoring, he also meets weekly with a Spanish and guitar tutor and always looks forward to his time at Momentum! This is the BEST place in East County for tutoring and giving your child one-on-one instruction.

My son, now finishing up his Junior year in high school, is in his 3rd year with Momentum Tutoring! The weekly 1:1 sessions with a private aide are invaluable in maintaining his 'almost 4.0' GPA. He's determined to get that 4.0. This is especially important now that we are *this close* to applying to universities. Though the tutors he's assigned to have changed over the years, Momentum always seems to know who will be the best fit. He's currently working with Jacob and it's going really well.

Hi, yes we would want to reserve a spot for Ryan for next school year; even as a junior in HS it's important to keep the GPA up. JEREMY HAS BEEN WONDERFUL! Ryan currently has an A in Pre-Calc. It is so cool to see Ryan make a connection with your tutors, not just academically but personally. Jeremy, Mark, and Matthew last year have really helped Ryan get the extra attention needed, keep him focused especially during baseball season, and in turn to keep his GPA up . I think it’s 3.92 last I checked.

I love the homework clinic right after school on the premises of Carlton Oaks, it makes it so much easier to get Cindy's homework done. Also the tutoring at the main center is great. Cindy loves going to Momentum Tutoring and doesn't see it as work, it is fun to her.

My son was struggling with reading comprehension. After seeing Bianca for about a month 2 times a week his AR grades began to go up. He now understands what he is reading and has learned how to summarize what he has read. Bianca is great with my son. She takes the time to get to know her students and helps them pick books that will help them succeed.

I would like to thank Terri and her staff they are always helpful. I'm a single father and its great to have Momentum close to my daughter Brooklyn's school. Since she is young they come over to the school and pick Brooklyn up. If it wasn't for my neighbor Jennifer and her girls I wouldn't have known about Momentum, both her girls go there and love it. I wanted to give a huge shoutout to Ms Lani and the rest of the staff at Momentum Tutoring. My son Trey started getting tutored about a year and half ago at Momentum. When he started he lacked confidence to read aloud in class, fluency and word recognition. He was having trouble obtaining grade level expectation. Ms Lani did such an amazing job with Trey. He now is one of the first to raise his hand in class to read aloud. His fluency and word reconition is amazing. He now has reached grade level for his reading and is already onto second semester reading level for next year. I can't thank Ms Lani enough for everything she put into Trey and getting him on the road to success. We will not think twice about returning to Momentum if anything else comes up in the future.

I love the way Terri and her staff have worked with my son's teachers to fulfill and excel at the goals we set in his IEP. Perhaps more importantly is the attitude that they all have, and how it has made all the difference to my son's attitude towards school. He has struggled for so long, I'm always afraid he's going to give up, but except for threatening me with eternal hatred if I take him out of Momentum, his attitude is wonderful. They under-charge for their services, know what they are doing and how to be effective, and truly love the kids.

Our son is a freshman at a local HS. While he was high-achieving in middle school, the transition to 9th grade (with 3 honors classes, a MUCH larger school, different technology for grading, etc. ) was a bit rough. Suddenly he was getting Cs in some classes and that had never happened before. His math teacher told us that several of the high-performing students at the HS were employed as tutors at Momentum; and we are so glad that we went and met with Terri. She aligned us with an excellent tutor, Matthew, and now our son's grades have improved. He and Matt are a very good fit and in addition to being a very good tutor, Matt is an excellent academic role model as well. Our son is no longer behind in Algebra 2H. With the combination of "at school" tutoring, and the 1:1 work with Matthew, his grade has gone from a C to an A in Math. And recently, he got his first A on an essay in English Honors. Matthew can provide alot of support not only in math but also English (the writing... !) and other subjects and better study habits and organization. Sometimes, to a high achieving student who has never really "had" to study... these things do not come naturally and extra help is needed. Our only regret about Momentum Tutoring is that we didn't find it sooner.

Their homework club is the greatest. When we sat down to do homework with our daughter Grace it usually would become very adversarial. We spent as much time arguing about her being able to do the work as getting it done. One hour of homework seemed to take all evening. Miss Marianne is the BEST. Grace almost always gets her homework done in the one hour allotted. Grace just loves the crafts and games on Fun Friday. We are so happy that we were told about Momentum and being just across the street from the school is convenient. We feel safe knowing that Grace can walk there after school and that they are looking out for her

My son is a junior in high school and had extreme difficulty in his chemistry class. He just couldn't learn from the teacher and was failing. He called me at lunch from school three days ago, Tuesday, ready to give up, sure that he would fail the class. He felt dumb and humiliated, and worried that he might not be able to graduate high school. His grades were suffering also due to missing several days of school and his ADD.

We called Momentum tutoring that same day, signed up the same night and our son was tutored the next two days, Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, he took a chemistry test and scored 100%, with 5 extra credit points. He understood the material, after being lost for six weeks! The teacher told the entire class his score, and it was amazing! He also got a B plus on his algebra 2 test,(up from a D on the first test) and had studied so well for his geography test that he aced the test and filled up the back page with extra credit information...

It seems like a miracle to go from an F to an A in two days... but it happened. Lets see how he does for the long haul. His confidence went from zero to fifty in two days. thanks so much Bree! Terri spent lots of time on the phone with us finding the most appropriate tutors, and we are so appreciative. WE can't thank you enough, and will surely bring our younger son in as well.

As a volunteer with Momentum Tutoring I have had a wonderful experience! All the employees/employers did a fantastic job training and helping me adjust to the job, they helped me through every step of the way with great kindness and understanding. At this job I feel like a part of a team that truly cares about what they are doing and how they are doing it. I don't have a single bad word to say about Momentum Tutoring.

Both of my daughters have been working with Terri and her team for almost two years now at Momentum Tutoring. One of my daughters has ADHD and has struggled in school and with her confidence in school. She has worked one on one with Terri and I have seen a huge difference. Terri treats each child as an individual and tailors how she works with each child to bring out the best in them.
This summer my daugher attended Momentum Tutoring Ripley's Believe it or Not summer camp. The camp was amazing. My daugther was so excited to attend each day that she wanted to get there early! Terri and her team put on a first class summer camp with an inspiring and captivating theme of Ripleys Believe It or Not. My 12-yr old girl and 10-yr old boy both attended this three week camp and I cannot express how impressed and appreciative I am for Terri and her team! As I flipped thru the work and evaluations (the workbooks the kids brought home), I was thankful and reassured in my decision to enroll them in this camp. I could clearly see the improvement in their work and their behavior over the three weeks and it's not often you, as a parent, are handed actual proof in your hands that a camp was worth the cost and effort! My second grade son was getting 40-50% on his math tests. A month after sending him to Momentum, he earned a 98% on the Santee School District Math Test! We were so excited, Nathan loved going to tutoring and excelled the rest of the year. He really enjoyed his tutor, Angelo, and looked forward to attending tutoring every Monday and Wednesday. our sophomore attended Momentum Tutoring for part of April and May 2013 to catch up her skills in Algebra 1 as she had recently transferred from another state and was a bit behind. The tutoring has helped her catch up and build confidence and she doesn't need tutoring for the rest of the year. She is open to attending in the fall when Junior level Geometry starts. Momentum Tutoring office on Cuyamaca was friendly and helpful, and an affordable helpful alternative. We are very pleased with this experience, thank you!!!

Her tests improved dramatically within the first two sessions. What they taught her was how to take a test which you do not learn in school. The information was already in her, but she did not know how to use it until now. Without Dani, her tutor, who has really gotten my child to blossom in school, we would have had a horrible school year. I recommend that if you are not sure, try it out for a few sessions, you will see a change that will make you wish you had started sooner.

Our son has attended Momentum Tutoring daily after school for about 3 years now. We have seen our child go from high anxiety and unsure of himself to confident and outgoing. My daughter started Momentum Tutoring a year ago for Spanish. She immediately did better on her next test. Momentum has help my son stay on track with his school work. As a single mom, it is hard for him to wait until I return from work to get homework help. Momentum has good, caring staff members that are helping my son succeed.

My son has always struggled at school, and I've enrolled him in many tutoring programs, including SDSU, The Learning Center, Kumon, and Dyslexia-specific training. Nothing helped, if felt like I was pouring money down the drain. My son hated it too. But at Momentum Tutoring, my son enjoys learning, he is making measurable progress, and the cost is inexpensive. I have a 16 year old son that attended Momentum Tutoring. He didn't want to go, he tried everything possible to not have to take the time to tutor. I was promised that my son would be matched with a tutor that will work with his needs , and boy I'll tell you "The frown upside down" saying was what I saw in my son. He went in no smile, no confidence and especially no interest. My Grandson was struggling academically as he entered the middle of 2nd grade. We enrolled him in Momentum Tutoring 4 days a week and saw immediate improvement. His organizational skills were the first area of improvemnt, which helped the rest of his areas. His reading was the next area to improve followed by math. His tutors were great and my Grandson loved going to tutoring. He also went to summer school and loved every single day. I can't say enough positive things about the tutors and Terri B. How she knows each of the kids and their needs at Momentum so well but she does. She is very kind, knowledgeable and focused. My Grandson will be continuing with Momentum in the fall.

Where do I even start? First of all, Momentum Tutoring not only helps students with their studies in school, but this organization also fuels their self esteem and willingly gives it's all to help each individual student. I got involved with Momentum after volunteering for a month during the summer school and then was hired on as a tutor and it has been such a great experience. Right from the start I knew there was no other place that I wanted to work at because Momentum was perfect for me. The environment there really helps students feel comfortable and everyone who works there becomes good friends with the students. You can really tell that everyone just wants all the other people around them to succeed as well, and so each person helps others to the best of their ability. I would recommend Momentum Tutoring for every student, whether they just need that little extra boost to do homework and get a better grade or they need one on one instruction to be able to understand clearly how to do certain assignments.

My children benefited in the "after school homework help" due to our chaotic household (with dealing with cancer illness, having my inlaws living with us and having 4 little dogs constantly barking, and no quiet space for them to study). Both my kids raised their grades, felt confident going to class because they had completed their assignments, and it was less stress in the evening for me. We started with Momentum mid-way through second grade. My daughter was below reading level and was getting discouraged by her grades. Though she enjoyed going, we wanted to get her help before she turned away from school completely. We paired up with Marianne twice a week and by the end of the school year, she was at grade level. She would come home from tutoring chatting animatedly about her time and how wonderful Marianne was (and still is). We couldn't agree more. This year (3rd grade) we discovered my daughter needed glasses and once getting them, her grades have skyrocketed. Now she's reading 4th grade books. I have had great experiences with Momentum Tutoring two years in a row! When my son was in 8th grade, there was an hour after school before I got off work to pick him up. Momentum had tutoring sessions available on school campus, and a senior in high school not only helped my son with his homework but also got him planning his high school career in order to get into a college he was interested in. The tutor went on to Cal Poly. The following year, as a Freshman in high school, my son fell behind in his honors algebra course. Momentum paired him up with a college student as his tutor and after one month he made a huge improvement. My son started tutoring with a D- in his algebra class and now has a high C. My son is currently being tutored by Jeremy for Math at Momentem Tutoring. We were extremely worried that John was going to get a D in Math. A D is not a passing grade at the school he attends so if he didn't get a C or better he would have to retake the class. So I began the search for help. I called and I called to find someone that was reasonable to help. I finally got a call from Terri and she had workable rates. John started with one day a week then moved to 2, 40 minute sessions a week. Lord what an improvement. He now has a B in math. My son says that Jeremy (his tutor) is a genious. My son is in high school so he does not participate in a lot of the programs that Momentem offers like the Friday sessions for the kids. I firmly believe that education is the key to a better future and no amount of money should be spared for a better future for a child. With the way things are in the schools now days with the budget cuts and everything else every community should have access to a program of this nature with maybe some funds being given so people less fortunate can participate also. My niece (age 8) and two nephews (age 9 and 16) came to live with us after some family issues made it impossible for them to continue living with their parents. The last few years before they came to live with us their attendance at school was abysmal and this sadly affected their education. My niece was entering the 3rd grade when she began tutoring with Momentum. With the help of Terri and Michelle, we realized that 3rd grade just wasn't the right placement. They helped us make the transition back to 2nd grade and have been there every step of the way. When she began the school year she wasn't even reading at a 1st grade level and could not do simple math (2+3). She's now reading above the 2nd grade level and doing well in math and all of her other subjects. She's feeling confident in school and that I attribute to Terri and Michelle. My 9 year old nephew was in a similar situation. He'd missed at least 1/2 of the last two years of school. He was reading well below grade level and didn't know his multiplication tables although he was entering 4th grade. Terri and Jhann have surpassed our wildest dreams and brought him up to grade level and before 2nd semester started. My other nephew, who is a sophomore in high school, was struggling in all of his subjects and now is getting A's and B's. He could not have done this without Terri and Mallory. The most impressive thing about Momentum from my stand point is that the kids really like going! They are eager to go and happy about being there. That is half the battle. My Daughter is 7 years old, was struggling with reading when we decided to bring her to Momentum in December of 2010. Since this short period she has had a wonderful tutor!! Her tutor is very attentive to her needs, each day she will ask if there is more we can do. I feel even though I am not there tutoring her I feel very involved. Every time I come in to pick her up her tutor lets me know of her progress. My daughter isn't always super excited to go study but she definitely is excited to go to tutoring. Which is a good thing, she has shown great progress in her confidence level at school, great reports from her teacher and she is know reading in front of the class! Our 12 year old was beginning to struggle in school and needed aditional help. We heard about Momentum and gave it a try. It's been a wonderful experience. Our sons tutor's have been matched to him perfectly. He went from being a "C" student to nothing lower then a "B" and has stayed up at that level. The staff at Momentum care about their students and believe me, our son has responded to that. I am absolutely in love with Momentum Tutoring. The close relationships I created with my supervisors, fellow volunteers, parents and students is incredible. I am extremely grateful to have had my first job there. It has given me many leadership opportunities which has helped me in college among other things. We started using Momentum Tutoring when our youngest son was in 6th grade. We watched Chris struggle with math in the primary grades, but he was never eligible for help through the school district. Unfortunately, children have to fall at least two grade levels behind before they qualify for a resource specialist in the classroom. We had an I.E.P. from 3rd grade through 8th grade, but something was missing from his education plan. One day, the school librarian suggested I call Terri at Momentum Tutoring. She raved about this after school tutoring program. I thanked her and gave Terri a call. This is our 6th year with Momentum Tutoring. Our son is in his junior year in high school, and needs help with more advanced subjects such as Algebra II, Chemistry, and Spanish. Momentum's tutors provide excellent tutoring to all ages, from the primary grades through high school. The tutors are young, bright, enthusiastic, and caring. The tutors are able to connect with the children and teenagers in a way that a parent cannot, especially when it comes to helping with school work. The amazing thing about Momentum Tutoring is how affordable it is. Every child should have access to a private tutor when he needs it, and thanks to Momentum, that tutoring is accessible, affordable, and superior to any other learning centers out there.

I've been employed at momentum tutoring for the last five months and love seeing all the children learn. The students are always eager to come in and work on their daily homework. We have kids that struggle of course, but we are able to help them prosper academically. I'm always pleased when I see their new accomplishments. It reassures me that we, Momentum, do our job. The one thing I wouuld change about Momentum is getting more supplies so tutors can use new ways to teach their students.

A teacher of my daughter recommended Momentum when she was in 2nd grade. I gave it some consideration and decided not to. When my daughter was in 3rd grade and still struggling with school and homework, I reconsidered my decision and enrolled her. She has improved her grades and self-esteem with the improvement of her school work. She is excited when I pick her up because of all of her homework being done and being able to play and do what she likes to do when she gets home vice sitting and doing homework for the night. Scott has been in Momentum Tutoring off and on for over one year. His tutor speaks Spanish and is able to help him with his homework in both languages. We sent Scott to Momentum to help with his English reading. His English reading has improved greatly and he is up to grade level. He attends 2 private tutoring sessions a week and the fee is very reasonable. The reward system Momentum uses encourages him to do his best. I like the classroom setting at the headquarters in Santee, it's a relaxed atmosphere conducive to learning. The best part is Scott really enjoys going!

I have worked for momentum tutoring for almost three years now. I have enjoyed working with the students and helping them achieve their goals. I would say the most rewarding part of my job is seeing our students faces when they accomplish a school project and go around the center telling each tutor what they have done.

I began at Momentum as a volunteer and i have loved the experience. I love working with the kids and it is amazing to see the students improve their school work and attitudes. One of my students improved immensely and even received the student of the month award. That was great to see how Momentum has helped and made a difference in this child's life. As a high school teacher at West Hills High School in Santee, I have observed the staff of Momentum do great things. Quite often, students struggle with the organization and discipline necessary to do homework and complete assignments. Since these factors are largely out of the teacher's control, Momentum steps in and provides structure beyond the classroom that is paramount to academic success. Quite a few of my students have made incredible turn-arounds as a result of Momentum's extra attention and high-quality staff. The change was both immediate and long-lasting.

I recently began volunteering at Momentum and enjoy all aspects of this great nonprofit. Before I worked here, I worked in retail where the entirety of the job consisted of folding clothes and competing with your coworkers for sales. I was pleasantly surprised when I came to know and understand that the small community of volunteers we have, are motivated to cooperate and make a difference in our community. Currently, I am I high school senior ready to attend a four year college, so becoming employed full-time was not appealing. Working at Momentum gives me the opportunity to effect the lives of our future, and do so on a scheduled that is flexible, and convenient for my teenage, scholarly lifestyle. Everyday I walk in the door, I am greeted not only by warm, smiling coworkers, but a comforting environment that undoubtedly fosters learning and a deep-rooted love for education. The most rewarding aspect of this job comes not from the relationships I have built, nor the friends I have made, but the look on a child's face when a concept they previously perceived as abstract, solidifies itself, and becomes pleasurable for the student to learn. At times, I will glance at the student doing their work, and hope that perhaps something -- anything I have said will impact or help that student in life; it is a unique experience and I thank Momentum Tutoring for giving me the opportunity to make a difference.

I have worked for Momentum for almost 5 years. I have enjoyed seeing kids succeed and get the help they need. Momentum has given me the experience I when I become a high school math teacher.

I have been working as a tutor at Momentum for about three years now and can't even begin to describe the affect it has had on my life and others. Momentum has helped me find my path and discover my passion for helping others. I am currently a volunteer at Momentum, and witness first hand the academic growth of our clients. This program offers services to a large variety of ages; each tutor able to adjust his or her skills to best suit the student. Personally, I enjoy providing my knowledge and study techniques to children who are enrolled at the same elementary school I once went to. Students arrive to Momentum eager to learn and improve their grades. Furthermore, Momentum has given myself the opportunity to gain experience in a field wish to enter as a career choice.

I have been working at Momentum for the past three years and it has taught me just as much as we teach the kids here. We can help them academically, but I have grown so much since I started here as a volunteer in eleventh grade. I have learned the importance of dedication and hard work, as well as how to be more creative and think quick on my feet. As great as this has been for my growth, I cannot say enough how great our kids are. They all have their own unique personalities and I love connecting with each and every one of them. This past school year especially, I have got the chance to get to know just about every child in this center and I am so lucky to know them all! Seeing them grow and change is such a great feeling and it is even more rewarding to see them grow more confident in themselves and their abilities. Momentum really works for the community and I hope we can have a chance to share it with everyone!

It is difficult to find a good tutor, let alone a good affordable one. What Terry has done with the MomentunTutoring Center is incredibable. More inportantly, is the confidence her and the Tutors instill in each and every child. My child was on the verge of failing 1st grade. My wife and I would spend 2 to 3 hours per night trying to help her, but our efforts were not paying off. Thats when we found Terry. She got to know our daughter and paired her with the perfect tutor. My daughter is now in 3rd grade, and she is getting A's and B's. We have since enrolled our other daughter, who is now one B away from straight A's. I can not say enough about all the staff at Momentum Tutoring.

There are not enough words to describe the way that I feel towards the staff at Momentum for helping my daughter. The dedication and care that has been shown throughout the years has far exceeded any expectation I could have had. Teri and the tutors have truly become a part of our family.

Momentum has been a wonderful part of my son's life. My son has severe dislexia and with the dedication of Momentum and his tutor my son is now excited about reading! My son who is currently in 3rd grade went from reading beneath kindergarden level to almost a 2nd grade level. When I felt I was out of options Momentum came to my aide! My son was struggling in school. I had tried private tutors, in home computer programs and after school homework help. One day, as I was about to give up he brought home a Momentum flyer. I looked at it, thought about it and eventually called and left a message. I did not have high hopes. In fact, when Terri called back and left me a voicemail I already had a negative mindset and decided not to pursue this option. Another day went by and she called me again. I actually liked the fact that she was calling again and something inside me said to give it a try. When I met with her the thing I liked most was how caring and nurturing she was to my child. She smiled, talked to him, not down to him, and made both him and myself feel very comfortable. His tutors have been wonderful! In short amount of time he went from below grade level reading and math to grade level and above! I honestly don't know what i would have done without them! This is the most caring organization I have ever dealt with. I highly recommend Momentum Tutoring to everyone.

What makes Momentum Tutoring (MT) different is their caring attitude toward each student. Terri Bozhor and her talented staff care and it shows; when one little girl was too sick to go to school but wanted to go to tutoring. It is human nature to response to others that care about you.

MT carefully screens every tutor they hire. Most tutors are highly motivated high school and college students in the top of their class with sparkling personalities. These are happy and patient people who are fun to be around. MT is dedicated to make “learning” a fun experience that will last a lifetime.

Momentum Tutoring’s curriculum is customized for each pupil. The senior staff assigns the appropriate tutor depending on age and expertise required. MT has several talented college math majors on staff so whether it is calculus or remedial reading they have motivated tutors to meet the pupils need.

The student’s safety is a top priority at MT. Initially all our centers were offered in classrooms of four existing Santee schools. With the passage of the school bonds in 2007 no classrooms were available for 2008. MT then established their present learning center across the street from Rio Seco School. For the past two years, they have had after school classes at Carlton Oaks School and next year hope to have several more schools involved that will be convenient for the parent’s pick-up. The school has all the parent phone numbers so no child is ever released without a recognizable pick-up.

MT is an association of Tutors certified by the State of California and the IRS as a Non-Profit charitable association. Therefore the costs are 25-50% lower than the “For Profit” Learning Centers. Public contributions are converted into scholarships for needy students. MT has a unique “pay what you can” policy that has worked out very well for some students.

As a Non-Profit, MT is governed by a volunteer elected Board of Directors as required by law. The board is made up of lay professionals, certified teachers, PTA member, legal representative, tutors, and a Certified Public accountant. These generous board members donate their time and services to make sure the students are safe, have a customized curriculum, select the most talented tutors and the most affordable plan available.

Most individuals can remember the time in their life when the “light came on” and they gained confidence. Momentum Tutoring is dedicated to “turning on” that confidence for every student.

Momentum Tutoring is my dream come true! I have an intense passion for helping others see how awesome they are. I love "Ahha" moments when suddenly someone just gets it.
