As a representative of the City of Seat Pleasant and a board member of Mistaken Identity, it has been extremely rewarding to have a viable partnership with an organization that understands the needs of the community. The Mistaken Identity Foundation has taken the time out to give the residents of Seat Pleasant a platform to educate and empower themselves at their convenience.

The Mistaken Identity organization is absolutely necessary in these times. After reading, "The New Jim Crow," by Michelle Alexander, I was compelled to find some way to help remedy the horrible structure on which our country's prison system is based. The people in this organization are passionate and driven to help and I admire that. The work to help the children of the incarcerated is so important. Together we'll make a difference and I'm proud to help where I can.

Mistaken Identity brings back the original intent of our prison system: reform. The impact that they are having in the community is becoming more and more apparent with every project they undertake. I'm pleased and proud to support this organization and it's mission, and I look forward to seeing the great things that MI is bound to accomplish in the times to come.

Mistaken Identity (MI) is an outstanding organization that has stepped outside the box to meet the needs of the community. By providing an emotional intelligence component with their vocational training, MI is able to address key emotional (and consequently behavioral) issues that may otherwise inhibit participant success. As a board member, I am more than proud to align myself with an organization dedicated not only providing a second chance, but giving others the tools to take full advantage of the opportunity they have received.

From the moment you meet Sheri Green, Founder and CEO of Mistaken Identity you feel the compassion she has for helping and others less fortunate or those who have fell on hard times. She understands the needs of our community youth, and the responsibility of giving back. Rather it's developing programs to help with school uniforms or training programs to aid those who has not gotten their High School Diploma, the Mistaken Identity Foundation has been there to assist.

As someone who has served as chair and volunteered for several other organizations from Habitat for Humanity, the United Way, Volunteers of America, Chesapeake Bay Foundation and various local organizations in Howard County and Anne Arundel County, MD, I am energized by the holistic vision of this organization. We have a great need today to fill the many gaps in young lives so that they can become competitive and productive. I intend to devote a great deal of time to work with Mistaken Identity to help our youth become contributing members of society.

As a former employee of Mistaken Identity, I was consistently impressed by their drive to seek out socially concious opportunities to serve youth and young adults. They truly have their hearts and minds in the right place.

Mistaken Identity's goal to offer second chances, and thereby hope, to those in a population that is often disregarded as being unable to make valuable contributions to society, makes this organization much needed to our community. Its director/owner and facilitators are totally committed to helping these individuals to see themselves and their options in a positive light.

The Maryland Suburban/Washington, DC Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center houses a residential rehab program for adult males recovering from substance abuse and other social dysfunctions. A major challenge with our population is preparation for successful employment once men complete our program. Mistaken Identity has developed and is delivering a multi-week class and process to help our program participants successfully complete this transition. The class and process has had substantive impact in positively adjusting the mindset and attitude of the men involved regarding the employment aspect of their transition. Concurrently, focus is being given to the specific skills and steps needed to search for, attain, and maintain career employment. Mistaken Identity is giving our participants realistic hope and the practical support to turn that hope into job success. We have been greatly pleased by Mistaken Identity's efforts on behalf of our Center residents.
